Thx very much for that …...Made a few calls to some of the suggested vendors for repair of said gauges and was told they would not be interested in working on them?? Does anyone have a failed unit that could be dissected to show the proper area of the gauge that needs surgery? At present I don't but if there is a failure which I'm sure there will be one day I will donate to the cause if needed. Thoughts? Dale

It can drop right down to 10 PSI or less while idling hot but should sit around 60 at 2,000 revs. I had a gauge mounted on the steering damper bracket, you can hard pipe it there with copper. You also get full pressure from either of the head oil lines. What really gets your attention is the pressure dropping to zero under acceleration if you let the level get too low on the dipstick. If you don't run a Roper plate you must have a gauge IMHO, the light would likely not catch that event like a gauge.

They are quite similar. Early Tonti's are the same, as far as I know, up to the LeMans 3, which had a longer swing arm..from memory.. always dangerous with me. Then the steering neck was longer from the Cal 2, I think..swing arm length changed again, maybe other changes like a wider swing arm on later models. As far as I know, though, the frame rails stayed consistent, so yes, the frames are similar. Take all this with a grain of salt if you are planning on making an early LeMans out of a Tonti frame, though.. the information is out there with enough research.

From memory.. always dangerous with me.. it is the metal gear that fails. Back in the day, Greg Field posted a method of cutting a window in the case, lubricating the gears, and closing it up. It supposedly fixed it. There used to be a tutorial on WG, but it left with a server crash..
