  1. PERFECTION . Today my bike attained perfection . I finally got my injectors back from RC Fuel Injection and finished the installation & adjustments . After two days of no-starts I realized I had a f'd up PowerCommander . Removed the PC and the first cylinder that came up , ZOOOM . It started like it never started before . I let it warm-up and took off to get gas . 1/2 mile before I get to the station , I ran out of fuel . Laid the bike over to get as much fuel as possible on the left side , restarted and on to the gas pump . A full tank of fuel and the long way home made me smile . NO hick-ups , nothing but perfect throttle response and perfect stop sign take-off and acceleration . 16k miles and a lot of sitting had me a clogged injector on one side and a poor spray pattern on the other . For anyone on this site w/any drivability or performance issues , please remove the throttle bodies and have your injectors serviced . This was NOT an easy task , be sure and take 1,000 pictures to know how things are supposed to come apart / go back together .

  2. I wasn't too bothered by the bubbling paint, but I did take advantage of the motor being out for clutch replacement to strip and paint it. I did not do the transmission as it did not seem affected. If the motor is not being removed, I would touch up with brushed flat black hobby enamel. The rest of the bike showing is pretty clean, how many miles on her?

  3. This was a JOB . I purchased rubber boots to try them to fix my misfire , popping , running like shite , crummy performance , etc. I got no advice on how to swap them out & decided to DIY . I separated the throttle bodies and pulled them out of the way and took a razor blade and split the boots . I realized I wasted my time with them and got to looking at the fuel injectors \ throttle body walls . The l.h. side showed flooding and the r.h. side was ultra-lean . Then it was X to do something . I just started taking things apart . short term memory loss ( I bought/lost 3 of the 3mm sockets while doing this ) and the fact it took way too long on the injector travel time made it an adventure on reassembly . When you do this you will need an empty fuel tank , a 2.5mm and a 3mm (stubby) SnapOn allen socket & a 45 degree external snap ring pliers , picks and regular tools . Do not ever go cheap $ on tools . I will come up with a procedure when I do the red frame injectors and get them done . If I ever get smart enough I will learn to transfer phone to computer photos. If anyone wants to PM their # I can send ( today ) a pic of the throttle bores to see WHY I did this .

  6. G'day again. Update # 2 Well headed off into the gloom Friday morning to get the GT11's fitted.About 70 kays away. The forecast was for MISERABLE but was hoping to get away early and back before the worst of it. Well got there before the front came through and got them fitted.It took Rob about an hour and it was good to chat, also met the Pirelli rep whilst there. I also got to meet a bloke with a new v7 Milano who is very impressed with it after downsizing from his Aprillia.He had the luxury of dropping his bike off there and being driven home by his wife! Well now for the moment of truth, I get to find out what these things are like. Of course the weather decides to take a turn for the worst at this stage but hey temp has crawled up to 8 degrees.Yay. Wow these make the bikes steering feel lighter and quicker.At the first roundabout I was reminded of the time I got off my 900 Honda rolladoor and took my brothers Honda 250 wet dream out for a spin and nearly threw it on the ground at the first roundabout.Wee bit of a weight difference between the two. Anyways by the time I had 20 or so kays on them I was getting used to that. I can't give much of an impression as by the time I'd gotten to the 40 kays of fun and interesting the weather was pretty shitty and there was mud and cow shit over the road in parts making life on new tyres a lesson in concentration. They never gave a moments concern though, no slips/ slides, plenty of feel and grip! I reckon the Pirelli rep is right in that they are an improved version of the original ! Got the feeling I'm going to love these and looking forward to more riding! Cheers Guzzler Ps that weather system got quite a lot worse later in the day too ( it's lasted the whole bloody weekend) but by that stage I'd gotten home had a hot shower and some lunch ! The glass or three of Shiraz by the fire at wine o clock just made a bloody good day all the better.

  7. Phil , this is where the word SnapOn comes in . Mine had factory sealant on them . Do you have a heat gun you can use to warm up the aluminum around where the screws are in the throttle body ? Be careful , this is similar to a self vasectomy w/o sedatives . It either works or ooops . The hardest were the screws holding the fuel injectors to the throttle bodies . My motivation was , I had nowhere to go but up !

  11. There's a Harley Davidson textured paint that is meant to be similar. I bought a touch up pen some time ago after someone recommended it, but I haven't tried it yet. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

  13. "Gravelly" is a good word for the 2002 black paint! Seems it would be hard to just touch up those areas without finishing the whole cases. I hear (from Scud and @footgoose) what a big job that is.

  16. Maybe . The owner needs to watch the throttle linkage and make sure the throttle plates return to zero . The air cleaner housing to TBs can be loosened and pushed away to verify there is nothing keeping the throttle plates from working properly .

  17. There are a multitude of "things" you can use on the ground strap . I would use a serrated washer along with Contax . It is a grease electricians use on ground connections . The bottle I have is a catalog # CTB8 . You need a complete circuit for things to be perfect . W/O witnessing your problem , I don't know what you need to cure your bike .

  20. I recall, when so many hands pitched in to make a new valve cover gasket for Goofman's 1200Sport at a SpineRaid, the impressive amount of oil that came gushing from an unsealed valve cover . . . (Don't forget this requires copious amounts of "gasket-making fluids" in bottle or can! )

  23. Ha ha sounds like we're all a lot alike eh! I first saw a road test of a mark 3 le mans in Two Wheels mag about 1980 ish and fell in lust then! You never saw any Guzzi's in ChCh ( NZ ) in those days! Anyways fast forward a bit after travelling for a few years and lobbing into Oz, and getting back into bikes big time ( big jap sports bikes ) I test rode a mark 5 LeMans in 89! I didn't buy it as I was seduced by a Black and gold limited edition Zook GSXR 1100 instead, but bloody hell did that Mk 5 leave a lasting IMPRESSION ! Like many got out of bikes, married house etc ! Then about 10-12 years ago when the disease reappeared I thought, THIS TIME IT WILL BE A GUZZI. I couldn't make my mind up which one at first but circumstance and the universe brought a GREEN V11 SPORT into my life!! Love the bloody thing and I too will not part with her .   24. I just test rode the CalVin with my "homemade Laminar Lip" yesterday. The buffeting and the wind noise is a bit less but I could not feel a difference to my test-setup with tape.
