  1. Well, Mr gstallons was kind enough to contact me and suggested I also check the battery under load. (Genius ! Yes I said it. And I'm embarrassed for not thinking to check it.) Having 12.69 v at rest I ASSUMED the battery was okay. It turns out it was registering 5 to 7 v with the ignition on. Lesson 1 here; never ASSUME. Cover all the bases. Lesson 2; There's a great group of helpful people here in the V11 world. Thank you all. Lesson 3; gstallons is just plain, old, smarter than me. Damn him ! Hats of to you gstallons, and thank you again !

  2. Yeah, the PC925 is way too big. I had one in my Daytona, really it was too big for that as well. Not sure why Odyssey lists it for some Guzzi's. I suspect it fits in certain Guzzi's, perhaps the Cali.

  4. Highly unlikely. Personally I'd be doing a simple compression test before I got into a head removal. Ciao

  5. Yeah, I'm sure Scud has some. Don't worry, be happy. It was always on the back of my mind, too. It's *possible* to change one on the side of the road, but I'd hate to try it.

  6. Hey Guzzimax nice collection of V11s, I've owned Cafe Sport and Ballabio before and they don't really ride any differently just more comfort and the frame mounted fairing seems to work better because its further forward

  7. I describe the Ballabio as the red-haired step-child of the Guzzi family and that's not far off. By comparison, the '99-'01 Sports have a more integrated, compact (is that even possible?) look at the front end. The fairing is the subject of discussion. From straight on, it's not my favorite, but from the front 3/4 view, I think it looks rather nice. It does block a fair bit of wind at my favorite 120km/hr riding pace. The rest of the bike is standard '03 and onward OEM stuff. Is it possible that the reported instability of the short-framed bikes was compensated for by the longer frame, slightly more conservative geometry, and frame-mounted rather than fork-mounted gauges and fairing? I recall here the infamous tank-slapping early Kawasaki police bikes, said problem resolved by frame mounting the fairing. For a bike named for the hillclimb victory, I can understand the high bars, but you'd think the suspension would be upgraded. As well as something stating, proclaiming, even boasting Italy - but no. A little script on the tailpiece and that's it. However, nothing in the Guzzi lineup makes perfect sense - nor should it, nor should we expect it to.

  8. I just wondered how many Zep songs started with a Bonzo beat followed by a Page riff? Even if it was an old blue's song.

  9. Yes I thought as much but asked the question anyway as someone may have come up with a miracle. FWIW your strategy is perfectly reasonable but not practical insitu. There is I believe a better way. Your burner doesn't produce enough high intensity concentrated heat. What you need for maximum effect is a fine tip in an Oxy torch. I'm going to machine up a cylindrical shroud so I dont burn anything around the throttle body and hit it with the fine tip of my Oxy set right on the head of the fastener. But before that I'll test my process on the other set I have coming and see how long I need to apply the heat to get the desired result. I mentioned once before it's best to avoid separating these things but sometimes you don't have a choice. Ciao

  10. Not a lot of information in the CT ad, but from the photo is appears to have about 21k miles on the clock. Based on the various fading and corrosion one can see, it looks like it has been put away wet ... or maybe just lovingly ridden in all weather It's only 60 miles from me, so tempting, but I don't need another project.

  11. It does feel good to savor a bike ride . To listen to the pathetic racket of the clutch sounds , feel the short (now) throw of the shifter , the crazy MG sound , the odd looks and enjoying exclusivity .

  12. Finally reunited with my LeMans! Have not seen nor rode it since last October! I had done an oil and filter change last fall so the fluids were ok. Tires needed a bit of air but still look good with just over 5k miles on them. Put a good charge on the battery over a couple days. Rolled it out in the driveway, pushed the go button and it fired right up. Rode the long way from Hiawassee down towards Helen, Ga. Immediately after tuning south on Hwy 17 had to wait for the traffic jam caused by a loose steer. Luckily the steer moved into someone's front yard allowing traffic to clear. Continued down 17 , then onto SR348 and Wolfpen Gap over to Two Wheels of Suchess. Low and behold amongst the crowd set TWO MORE Guzzi! A Balibio and a new 850. Chatted with the guys for a bit then headed back to the house via SR60, Skeenah Pass Rd. and Hwy 76. One hundred eighteen miles of great roads and an awesome bike!
