  1. Thanks Phil! Tank arrived safely in California! Working with shop here to get it coated inside and then swapped onto the Rossa Corsa! G’day friend!

  2. I must admit that I hate Aprilia for introducing the 660 twin at this time. As usual, it is cutting edge gorgeous, and has a torque plateau rather than a curve. In essence, the two front cylinders from the RSV4, but expanded from 535cc to 660cc, 270º crank w/counterbalancer, with a much lower redline. 10.5K peak hp and revs stop at 11K. Only teasers so far, but what a teaser. Bars above the triples, pegs slightly lower. Maybe 400lb all up. An absolute HonKawaYamaSuz killer. The AMA is probably writing rules to limit it as we speak. Price? Yeahhhhh...

  4. This current generation of smaller, less ambitious, hipster flannel Vs is the first out of Mandello del Lario that are genuine fakes. Intentional fakes. Costume bikes. Oh, one might point to the underachieving LM II and III etc, but it was not for lack of trying. Guzzi had zero cash, ever on the ropes as a seemingly endless succession of owners all pointing in different directions indifferently. Now that they have the money for a few diamonds, they are turning out rhinestones.

  5. My 12 year old Mana eats Burgmans like those shitty little biscuits you get at poncy cafe's when you buy a coffee. I also reckon it will probably beat a V85 in a drag race if anyone wants to play that shitty, pointless, game. Guzzi gotta change....

  6. Want. This is what Guzzi should be allowed to build. Not some sclerotic, wheezing, 2V air cooled shitbox.

  7. So Summer.. that's July 30 to August 3? Norwegian bachelor farmer describing the weather after moving to Minnesota.. "The Winters are very beautiful here.. I don't know what the Summer is like, I've only been here 10 months.."

  8. I have been researching R230's for a few years. Almost had a pristine 10k mile SL55 in my grasp but it had too many issues so I let it go. Ended up with a real nice 09 SL550 instead in retina melting Mars Red :-).

  9. It's the only chin spoiler I like on the V11. I've seen 1 other style and it looks horrid. I think the fasteners for the mesh on the Tenni spoil the clean look and are totally unnecessary from a securing point of view. Paint match here looks good although you can get away with quite a bit of difference in the shade with so much distance between the painted parts you cant really spot any slight variation in the shade. I think you can still order these from Ghezzi Brian. Ciao

  12. Two different color wheels? Meh.. maybe the whole bike would be good looking if one solid color like black.

  13. If we write enough letters, maybe they'll put it in a scooter. The Scarabeo 660! One could then hold match races with Suzuki Burgmans... Alright, enough depressing thoughts.

  14. This engine from Aprilia is mooted for a new Touareg too if you're into that sort of thing. 😎

  15. Simultaneously posted this... That would have made choosing the V11 much more difficult than it was. Just coincidentally, Morini is advertizing a "new 660cc twin..." But theirs is an Adv bike :-(

  19. We are on the fringe here. ""Most" of the small block Guzzi buyers are more toward the hipster mainstream, and that is what parent Piaggio wants. They are a scooter company and urban appliances are their forté. As I see it, the newer bikes have probably been subjected to focus groups and marketing studies. Homogenized 2-wheeled McDonald's hamburgers. Satisfying many but exciting (or offending) none. Guzzi exists and for that reason we should derive some satisfaction, and Aprilia had things moving in the right direction until they fell on hard times. If I had to guess, Piaggio bought the company with the idea of exploiting the name and. history, using that horrible business philosophy of "brand management." A certain American company has done the same, licensing their name to Ford, clothing manufacturers, glassware, jewelry - everything but better bikes. Alas, it seems that they are also in dire straits now, despite appearances. My proposal is to hire Erik Buell and allow him to offend a few and inject some lightness and performance into the current commuter bikes. Speaking of which and totally off subject: back when Buell introduced the Harley-powered XB9 and XB12 Firebolts, I examined one and sat on it at the international motorcycle show in Seattle that year. Despite the horrid engine, that bike fit and felt perfect - as very few do when subjected to the "fit" test. Daydreaming is satisfying - else we would not spend to much time involved in it. I somehow doubt that the board of Piaggio is capable of it.
