  1. When this mess is done, come out and let’s get our SoCal brethren and sistren together for a ride. I want to put a run together called “The Spaghetti Western”, for Italian bikes that ends with a great Italian meal. Maybe ride up to North Beach or Napa, or perhaps Mark would host a meal at MG Classics? Just kidding! sort of. Anyway, hope you make it out here soon, Chuck. It sucks being stuck in one place.

  3. I’d appreciate it if you could post or email me the details for your tail tidy. My sport came with the license plate bracket mounted on the inner fender in front of the tire. I’m too old to run that setup so I’ve considered going back to stock, but I like the look of yours.

  4. Earlier this year I foolishly sold my 2003 LeMans. I've regretted it. I offered to buy it back but the new owner declined. When a 2002 Champagne LeMans came along, I jumped. The color has grown on me over the years. It's a 1 year color and I think it makes an elegant GT bike. Especially with some carbon detailing. I want to repaint the tank as it is faded and stained by gasoline overflow. I can have my paint store attempt to match, but if anyone has a better suggestion please let me know. Or perhaps someone has a champagne tank they would part with. (the pic is not my bike .....yet) Mike

  6. All good now, and it was a fairly simple fix thanks to all of your advice. I took the neutral switch out to check its functionality. Cleaned it up and worked the plunger a bit. Everything seemed to work properly. The switch was below the oil line, but I had a bolt of the same size to plug things up and reduce the loss of that expensive new gearbox oil during my testing. This was the key tip, however: Finding the right seal washer thickness is what got the switch within the fine balancing act between recognizing neutral and turning off in the other gears. Thank goodness I didn't have to tear the gearbox apart again. And thank all of you for your advice and sage-like Guzzi wisdom. -Keith

  7. the whole thing attaches to existing frame bracket which you'll see when you get all the other crap outta the way. 2 bolt holes on the tab you bend down from the center of the license plate area

  9. Sure Bob. I thought I'd find a "Tail tidy" topic to place the info. This came up using a topic search. Maybe others can find it the same way.

  10. I think someone on WG posted there and was making them several years ago. I can't find any recent activity so I don't feel out of line posting this. I made a template of the two pieces. Pretty straight forward. Cut and bend. The main piece is s/s and could be made in different dimensions to fit different lighting. The smaller piece is thin alm and has 2 mounting holes. Slight bending to fit contour and only serves as a mudguard. All pieces attach to existing frame mounts. Looking up at the mudguard Sorry the other small hole on the mudguard is hard to see

  12. Another easy method , use a test light and test with it . put the test light from the neg battery bolt to ground at the starter housing . Try starting the bike . IF the test light glows , you have a poor circuit / start looking . same goes for the positive circuit . Go from the positive battery bolt to the positive terminal (stud) at the starter . If it glows , start looking . A good test light is as good as ALL my Fluke meters and a lot cheaper to replace !
