  1. That is a kind and thoughtful offer Paul. I once was a member of a now defunct local vintage moto forum in which one thoughtful member started a "pay it forward" thread where members could give away items that were say, not of particularly great value, but too good to throw away. In the vintage scene all sorts of bits and pieces were utilized for all sorts of applications. The only requirement to claim the free item was to, shortly thereafter, continue to "pay it forward" and offer up something else. Value was not relevant. Cool idea. I took advantage of the first offer, a book of the history of Harley D advertising. I then offered up a motocross helmet I had got in a parts purchase, and on, and on it went. That particular forum later started a Facebook page and completely lost all semblance of a moto forum. Too bad.

  2. Well, I perused the site, did a search and failed to see any thread about it. But I know you guys are aware of the Moto Guzzi 100 years celebration. I suggest that you get yourselves one of these, as it looks like an incredible piece of work... I have ordered mine from Amazon.IT; if you do a search on Amazon.com, it does not appear. note: Amazon.it and Amazon.com are separate entities. I have ordered from Amazon.it in the past, and had to use Amazon.com to meddle. Here's what is said in Italian: -Book dedicated to the 100 years of Moto Guzzi. In a large format volume (30 by 23 cm) with hard covers, 160 pages printed on high quality paper. I paid 68.24 EUR (20.69 shipping charges). The book is not yet available, although released on October 1st, 2020. I also give another site's URL: mandellofactory.com; there is an option for English language.

  4. I've no idea to be honest I'd think the main things to check would be rod length, deck height and stroke but there is also the matter of weight and balance.

  6. Pretty sure our treasured Aussie friend, @pete roper , has this expertise. I'm not certain, but I think Bungendore is in the future. As in, it's tomorrow there when it's today here. In the meantime, we can kick this around on this side of the Date Line . . . Welcome to the best place in the world for the care & feeding of your 2001 V11 Sport, Brivmora!

  8. I'm waiting on parts, USPS evidently very slow getting my order from Wisconsin! Ordered a sump plate [thanks docc, pressureangle] now sitting around reading posts and FAQs, will my 2001 need a shifter spring or is that the later ones? Can higher bars be mounted without having to change the throttle cable/brake lines etc. I've got some single bolt handlebar mounts that can go in the convenient, rubber plugged holes in the upper triple clamp and plan to use superbike bend bars with them. Sort of the poor mans LSL kit.

  9. I've got a set of the original Scura lollipop mirrors in case anyone wants one or the pair. Small donation to the forum requested and you cover postage and they are yours. Thanks, Paul

  10. Thanks Footgoose! Nice history there! Indeed...I just did a major garage overhaul (sealing the floor, painting the walls and installing some overhead racks) and now going thru a few hidden pockets of items, I may even find a few more "goodies" to offer up...although some of them will be for other Guzzis not just V11's. Happy to help these items find a good home for items I am sure I won't use. Cheers and Merry Xmas all!

  13. Yeah, I was always told "stone cold", but I did some careful measurements using guzzidiag to monitor engine temperature and checked the valve lash over a period of time. I was surprised that the motor cooled 90% and the lash returned to the "stone cold" spec after just 40 minutes. A Very Experienced and well respected Guzzi owner/tech told me the same at this recent Spine Raid. More detailed post here: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19137&p=205658 The great thing about this discovery is that it removes the hassle of having to wait overnight to do this procedure. The six steps above can be performed in a couple hours tops.
