Going through the worst cold spell in 35 years. Not expected over freezing for a week-v10 days. Been in the teens and 20s. Wind, snow spit, freezing mist. Can't get on the road. This is usually good riding time 2 years ago I purchased my Duc, rode it 200 miles from Dallas in nice 60-70 weather Since prediction of this weather, we've purchased indoor paint and supplies. Been painting and fixing ceiling cracks, smoking ribs, fireplace going, and had a few nice drinks. Friday will rent a rug shampooer after the gym provided the roads are passable.

BUNA-N, i.e. Nitrile. The "garter" spring indicates a seal which can take some heat and pressure. Ya' know, you can get 15-26-7 double BUNA-N sealed ball bearings. A thin film of RTV to seal it against shaft and housing. The only problem is that shifting might be so smooth and effortless that there would be an apocalyptic, horrific reaction in all of nature.

Recently all I've been doing is pushing the Guzzi out of the way so I could work on the other bikes. I still manage to sneak out for a ride the other day between rain showers.

Good man Dave. I just don’t have the heart to do the 1/2 mile of gravel road between me and the tarmac with the goose, since the gravel/dirt/lignan mix they use for less dust in summer turns into super-glue mud in winter.... don’t want to be trying to scrub that off the MG. I used to ride year-round on my old oil head, and when i sold it a few years ago it had baked-in “stuff” from the winter road here in many crevasses that made it hard to really clean up for selling. Need to get out to the shop soon and do the winter mx on the MG, as spring is coming! Do the oils, and then working out why (what little part is missing or messed up) the red V11 has a goofy, loose attach point for the fairing, though it looks all in order with just a quick inspection.

Full disclosure: I'm not sure my seal is really leaking at all. I removed the sideplate to inspect the gearbox when my Sport failed to move under power and made an awful noise from "down yonder." The problem was not the gearbox (split front driveshaft yoke), but I installed the the Chuck-designed/Scud-made Super Spring and performed (most of) the Lucky Phil Shift Improvement. I didn't get the sideplate sealed well and it weeps blue blood (RedLine Shockproof Lightweight) to a very slight, but annoying degree. So, I need to try and seal it again. Once off, I can finish the Lucky Phil Shift Improvement and install the McMaster-Carr roller bearing to replace my notchy original. Figured I might as well refresh the shifter shaft seal and be done with it. One can hope . . .

Read up about the Joe Bar Team if you never heard about it; It is a cartoon about bikers in the 70's; this is hilarious and it talks to most of us from the "old days" because we have been in these situations depicted in the cartoons. Here are a few examples below; you can purchase the cartoons in English, and some of the stories don't even require translation. There are some Moto Guzzi in the stories, but I could not find any available from the web. I used to have all these cartoons, but they were lost.... If any of you have read or heard about the Joe Bar Team, please let me know. They also have a complete line of biker's wear.
