  1. RIP, Bob. He was my riding buddy, and we rode all over SoCal (and central Cal once) for years and years. Going out to Redondo Beach to ride hasn't been the same, since. Mark did most or all of his maintenance, btw.. We didn't know it at the time, but this *may* have been our last riding day together..

  2. Awesome on your clutch!! The tachometer is electronic. That collection of failures = Relay#2. Install a full compliment of High Current OMRON, Accept no substitutes. Use Caig DeOxit® on the contacts.

  3. Hot off the presses. That Grohl is really amazing. Saw him and the Foos at the David Letterman show with Tony Joe White. Seen the Stones a few times too. The last time here in OKC in a smaller arena.

  4. Took the Rosso Corsa out this morning a nice 150 mi round trip ride from San Francisco North up the coast on Hwy 1 to Bodega Bay and back, she needed to get out and run a tank of gas through her and stretch her legs.. ....she ran beautiful, the weather was sunny and in the low 70's...almost no traffic all the way up!! I'm breaking in some new gloves though...my thumbs are numb...!!

  6. The 8mm bleeder from motion pro worked like a champ for me on the clutch: https://www.motionpro.com/product/08-0482 The 10mm ones were a disaster for the brakes...and I did the clutch first so can't point at a learning curve issue. Wound up using an earlier version of this which got the job done. https://www.motionpro.com/product/08-0143

  7. Some gorgeous country! Had to race past central cal on last trip north a week or so ago, and it truly hurt to be on I-5 instead of over on hwy 1.

  8. Thanks Bill - the McMaster-Carr homepage is awesome! Will start to count fasteners and hopefully place an exhaustive order (yeah right!). I'll probably end up with too many fasteners or too many shipping fees - or both Will give it a try. Thanks! /Jens

  11. That's a great record. Mark's one guy I'd like to see. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. All this about pilots and planes reminds me of yesterday. I'd just epoxied that damn broken turn signal on my EV. When I wired it back on, none of the tail lights or signals worked. I was yelling mad. I checked the fuse, good. Put it back in, everything worked! Sprayed everything with contact cleaner (no CAIG $$). Damn fuse block. So I'm still bitching about it with my neighbor. He's a double retired Lt Col, B-52 pilot and FAA guy, always working on his BMW track car. There's a thing about engineers, pilots, doctors, they're always experts on anything. So Steve tells me to use dielectric grease. I told him that it was an insulator. He disagreed and said it was a conductor. That's when I mention some of Guzzi discussions. He replies that everyone on the internet is an "expert". Somehow I bring up Chuck from Indiana, then Brad, my last line of defense. Anyway this morning I'm dropping off the trash, I'm in my gym shorts ready to go and it's cold and just been raining. Steve comes up to me and says that it's true that dielectric grease really is an insulator. Before I was going to be roped into another 20 minute conversation, I told him I was cold and going to the gym. As he left, I "invited" him over for Pabst later in the afternoon. That'll keep him away for a while.

  12. Great, nice one docc, we got there in the end! Hope it’s useful to you fine gentlemen (and ladies- are there any lassies on here?) P.S. I’ve also done a coloured V50/Monza diagram if anyone needs it.

  15. If you host it somewhere like smugmug or another photo site you can link it here. Please don't use Photobucket. That way you can use the full resolution without reducing it to fit in here.

  16. I would hope anyone going so far as to change pistons, cylinders, and camshaft would have addressed both the known engine paint and flywheel issues of this model. So many significant changes make me wonder about how the tuning has been done....

  17. Thank all for your support, I'm going to see the bike on friday. Clutch issues are well known on this bike, I'll check this thing and the cylinders question when I'll see it anyway. The owner says literally "mounts cylinders and pistons D.95 and special camshaft". I only found on the internet d.95 pistons kit for Guzzi griso/norge 1200, so probably it's something similar but (at least for me) unusual on V11s. I just hope this bike has not been messed around too much. Now I'm going deeper into clutch/flywheel topics and hope to come back with good news on friday.

  18. When I was younger, I thought, "after I make my first million I'll find a staggerwing and rebuild it. It'll be my traveling *and* antique airplane." Then I saw one uncovered. "Nevermind.."

  19. Wow, that looks like it's going 100 while standing still.. Sweet! Drooling over the Quat D exhaust too. I would want to know if it has the possible exploding clutch issue before buying.

  20. Oh, boy ... a fastener thread! I like those more than oil and tire fests. And. I somehow missed this thread in its original incarnation. That said, having all sizes, types, etc., of all fasteners makes me -- almost certifiably OCD -- feel near normal. While not sure, Jens (and congratulations on your new moto-acquisition! ) about their OCONUS shipping co$t$, I have yet to have a need for any fastener that McMaster-Carr doesn't have and can't get to me ... the next day without surcharge! Besides, what a great website. If I were a better planner -- maybe in my next life -- I can bundle my orders so I don't spend more for shipping than I do for the item. Bill

  21. The Scura R was never imported here, and I've never seen one. That said, it wouldn't have the 02 Scura "issues." I would be on that like a duck on a June bug..

  23. Just bought a V11 beauty and ready to show it all my love This forum is a gold-mine of knowledge Ti fasteners seems to be the thing. Any advice on where to buy them? And do they come in kits or suitable assortments?

  24. Guzzibob Dickman’s 850 T3: I’m sure that many of you knew Bob and may be familiar with this bike. Bob must have really loved this bike as it’s seen a lot of road time. I know Bob was a meticulous steward of his steeds, and while she has been still for a few years I have faith that she will rise again. This should be a fun and very rewarding project! Cheers!

  27. I have the HF, and saw pix of the mojo lever and mojo blocks, so naturally I converted the horrible HF lever to a mojo lever. (I have *lots* of Delrin, and a lathe.) Made something that looks like mojo blocks, and have changed *many* tires. I like the mojo lever idea..

  28. I've been using the Harbor Freight tire changer, with the Mojo Blocks and Mojo Lever. It's mounted on a pallet. It's been pretty good, but there was a learning curve. Having recently bought 6 motorcycle tires (a pair each for the Scura, Stelvio, and 701 Enduro) I decided to get the No Mar tire changer with the hitch mount. I did the Scura tires yesterday and I really like the convenience of the hitch-mount, and I'll probably figure a way to mount it on the wall or hang it from the ceiling when not in use. The wheel mounts much more securely to the NoMar than it did to the Harbor Freight. The wheel did not spin at all while removing or installing either tire. On the Harbor Freight unit, I had to use strap to tie a spoke to one of the arms. The bead breaker was a puzzle at first, because it is not compatible with the hitch mount and I didn't mount it to the floor (can't drill into a post-tension slab). I managed to get the front bead broken with some effort. For the rear, I figured out how to position the bead-breaker under my hitch, then used an adjustable height hitch and some wood to sort of jack the truck up on the bead breaker to keep it in place. That worked great. As for the levers and lubes, I had plenty of RuGlide tire mount lube so I used that and didn't try the NoMar stuff yet. I did try their mount and demount bar, but I like the Mojo Level better. Maybe it's because I have so much experience with the MojoLever, but I really struggled with the NoMar lever. I can probably figure it out, but I think I'll just stick with the one I know. FYI - my Harbor Freight unit is for sale on Craigslist for $75. But if anybody here wants to come get it, I'll gladly take $40.

  34. Stainless Steel is a poor choice for fasteners on a motorcycle esp one that vibrates a bit. The material is too hard and so has minimal stretch which leads to loosening fasteners. they were made for the marine and building industries not for automotive use. I hate the way passive cad plated steel fasteners dull after a while but I wouldnt go SS. The Daytona engine I have just completed and the gearbox I have apart on the bench have been converted to all Titanium external fasteners including the washers. I guess the engine cost around $230AU or so to do and the gearbox around $140AU. Ti fasteners dont weather, stay tight and look great for the life of the bike or car. All my bikes have gradually morphed over to Titanium fasteners including the chassis bolts and nuts. The cost is up there I know but I think its worth the money in the long term. Ciao

  35. Only if you are going into the same metal. SS to SS and you better get your anti seize out as it has a higher risk. I don't think there is an SS on a V11 Sport. https://www.fastenal.com/en/72/galling
