  3. I've had 2 x Deka ETX14 AGMs in the Le Mans. Each lasted 8 years so I got another one.

  4. Yes, but he is talking about multiple tightening of that fastener. Bolt thread stretch and fatigue come into play at some point...

  5. Hello, V11 aficionados! This thread is about me and my Greenie. Good days and bad days. A steep learning curve, maintenance, and later on some tuning and styling. I bought the '00 V11 Greenie on the last day of August 2019. A friend drove me from Gausdal to Stryn, and I drove home on the bike. My first trip on a Guzzi since I sold the V65 Lario in 1995. 300 km in cold weather, rain, and sun. I enjoyed every moment, every curve. Right now I'm doing the long overdue winter maintenance. There are quite a lot of things to fix, inspect and enhance. I have a long list. I will be grateful for every comment. Flickr album is here

  6. I’m actually renting this, mine is in the shop getting the cam box gaskets replaced. The old N-14 Cummins Engines all start to leak oil around these cam covers. There are three of them on the left side of the engine and you have to strip everything off to get at them. Fuel pump, ECM, Air Compressor, Power Steering Pump.. It’s a rather lengthy and expensive repair. Considering this week is the annual “DOT Inspection Blitz” I’m certainly not running around with leaking cam covers. This is a Freightliner Coranado, quite roomy and it has a Detroit Diesel in it, straight 10 speed. Not so bad, although the cheap plastic interior is signature Freightliner.

  8. I agree with docc, verify the throttle bodies are closed. If not, check that cables are seated correctly, including the fast idle one, and you may need to back off the adjuster at throttle grip as there should be a slight amount of slack before the throttles actually open when you twist it. After doing the "decent tune-up", I had to back that adjustment out because it idled at about 3k, seems the PO used it to adjust idle instead of the t.b. screws.

  9. Perhaps an intake air leak? Spray some solvent, like throttle body cleaner, around the intake connections while running to se if it affects the rpm anywhere. Also, visually confirm that the throttle body linkage is seating back against the idle stop(s).

  11. like many here I am not a young person at this point- but I still can stan a proper bop. heh. most kpop is pretty terrible but Mamamoo are actually amazing singers- arguably the best female vocal group in the world right now- if you listen further you will see even if its not your style. that song is not super representative as is a bit of parody of themselves as they complain about not being able to go 'drink like a fish' and hang out as 20 somethings going nuts shut in during the pandemic.

  12. I saw that post back when Roy made up that stand. I realize that the spine frame is fastened together and loosening the fastenings on a regular basis isn't ideal, that's why I wanted to confirm the correct value. I'm hoping I come up with a better method for getting both wheels off the ground; my scissor jack under the sump for the front wheel is great, but this Becker Technik I got included in a bike deal, for the back wheel is not bad but it's not perfect, still working out the nuances of working around this spine frame. fwiw.

  13. Raz was always been a reliable poster. The charts I was looking at were based on thread pitch (and hardness). I doubt that Threaded Pin is more than 8.8 hardness, and not the finest pitch. So, I'm seeing 79 Nm for a 1.75 pitch.

  14. It actually wasn't from a manual (the manuals I'm looking at don't have a value). It was actually from a list of torque values from various sources compiled and posted by Raz on 31Dec2018. He has the Side Plate rod beneath the swingarm @ 49 nm Side Plate lowest/frame to gearbox @ 78 nm In his included chart of standard values for 12 mm he has @ 80 nm

  15. That works out to approximately 58 ftlbs... looking at standard torque charts, that’s in the ballpark. I didn’t bother doing that. I went by feel and a dab of medium lock tite on those bolts when switching plates. I would say that I don’t think those 18mm nuts were designed to be loosened & tightened back up regularly. Have you seen this?: Griso Shop Stand Mk I

  16. So, I keep looking, but am not finding a specification for the "Threaded Pin" that is nutted from each side at the bottom of the frame side plates through the back/bottom of the gearbox. The Threaded Pin looks to be 12mm, but the manual doesn't list a standard torque for fasteners above 10mm. Where did you find the 78NM value, @80CX100?

  17. The V11 combustion chamber is somewhat more advanced than radial aircraft engines - but not all that much. Therefore, pre-ignition is an ever-present threat as we are in the pre-knock sensor world here. Lucky those who live near a friendly airport, eh?

  18. @Chuck You were correct, it is indeed a '97 titled as a '98. Well, its a Centauro....That's about the only truthful statement made by the dealer. It's in poor condition. Got to give them credit for the expert photo's that failed to show the flaws. After fiddling with it and a new battery, she does run. Looks like it fell into disrepute the last number of years which is a shame really. It looks better in person. Flushed the tank as best i could and filled it with high octane and a can of Berrymans. Bottom line is i needed this engine for my project and it runs and drives. I've rode it about 50 miles? Strange bike, certainly if this was something i would keep wholesale change would take place. Convert it to a Daytona... I see now why it was controversial, not really a cruiser nor sporting bike. Hmmmm..... Custom cracked crossover Does have the upgraded chip This was especially annoying... Ohh boy......at this point I'm just happy it runs and goes down the road. Certainly paid waaay too much for it. Live and learn........

  20. I bought my first V11, which is a 2002/03 black frame, but with the earlier “short” tank only 4 years ago as an alternative Guzzi to my Griso, I’d always liked the classic look of the V11, and IMHO they were the last “raw big blocks”, as much as I like the Griso, the CARC bikes just feel smoother. Then around a year later I bought a V11 Le Mans, then another year on I decided I’d quite like an early red framed V11, I found a fantastic Silver 5000 miler in great condition, bought that. Then only a month or so after getting the red framed V11, a Ross’s Corsa came up for sale, and it was too good an opportunity to pass, so I bought that. Then earlier this year I was seriously looking at an early carb 1100 Sport, but I couldn’t get on with the riding position, so I passed on that and shortly afterwards spotted this 1999 greenie for sale. For various reasons I felt it would be a great purchase, even though I already have a near mint silver 1999 red frame, and here I am with 2 red frames, 3 black frames and Griso. I do plan to downsize & sell the V11 Le Mans this year, since I bought the Rosso Corsa, so I’ll be back down to 4 V11’s

  21. It suffices to just copy/paste the URL (http://www.etceter.com/etcetera) in the message and the clip is embedded automagically. Make sure the Enable HTML option is checked. Sent from a clever thingy with a microprocessor and an interweb connection
