  1. After a little time and work, Bobby D’s 850T3 is cleaned-up and running. I flushed everything out and got new gas and oil into her, cleaned up the plugs, charged the battery, and fired her up. I had Mark give her a good look over and dial in the carbs, and she runs pretty good. What a different animal from the V11. What a difference 23 years makes! (1978-2001) Nonetheless, this bike is very fun to ride, although we’re still getting to know each other. The clutch is real grabby, but the 5 speed tranny shifts crisply, but neutral is a little elusive, and the faint dash light doesn’t help. I wonder if Bob had Sean F do any work on the tranny, cause it sure feels tight. This bike is a testimony to the the rider and the bike. Bob put 178,000 miles on this bike, but he was constantly advancing it and keeping up on its needs.....up grades to the carbs, the ignition, the brakes,....he took good care of this Guzzi and at close to 200k this bike still performs and is a great ride. *Glenn Morgan has taken the money raised from the sales of Bob Dickman’s bikes and has created the GuzziBob Rally Fund to help fund rallies. I believe more info on this can be found through MGNOC. I thought it would be fun to ride this to the upcoming Susanville rally as people there no doubt knew Bob and this bike. It’s kind of a long shot for me, but we’ll see.

  3. well she is tarped up and behind my mother's shed - be back up in a couple weeks and the parts should be in and I can take it on. the issue was this time- I was coming up to work on our family friends old cabin so instead of working on the bike, I was battling rat turds and piss after 10 years of neglect- 4 days straight of just cleaning shit. I made one heck of a burn pile for when winter comes. next gonna put in a septic tank, LED lights, (got the generator) need to get a new regulator for the propane- stove and refrigerator don't work- both rat infested so probably just need replaced. , need to get a pump for the creek to get water. the Roof - shingles from 1971 was growing ferns and small trees. so ... got to do that. outhouse has fallen over, lots of rotten logs and slugs inside- makes the guzzi issues seem less serious.

  4. '.030'' is the recommended air gap . You should have an assortment of gaskets to get the right gap .

  7. Hi All, I have a Dr John in storage that I plan on bringing out to France and restoring. I believe it was 18 of 20 but I can not locate the paperwork. Does anyone have a list of engine / chassis numbers for the Dr Johns? Cheers Peter S

  8. The powder coating process took longer than expected as half the old bubbled crappy 02 paint practically fell off but the other half didn't want to come off at all..Then after much effort finally the powder coater said he was afraid to turn the pressure up on the sand blaster any higher for fear of doing damage to the cases..so We took the cases to another guy in LA that he recommended who does a special chemical paint removal and after 2 weeks there it was ready to go back to the powder coater and be coated..He did a great job of masking and painting..very happy with that! So now the motor is on its way back together, sort of got sidetracked ( as always happens) as there was some light scoring on the crank bearings so we had to redo crank and bearings, and the timing chain gear didn't want to come off so we had to cut the chain off to get the gear off..so we replaced all of those parts...then we decided to put in some new valve seals since we were there and seemed like the opportune time..the valves and pistons looked very good, we also replaced the old one and powder coated a new sump pan as it was starting to crack where the side stand bolts go in..they were loose from when I got the bike... ..but now at last Progress!!

  9. It would be nice to see a collection of high resolution images of that V11 Sport. It looks largely original, but not entirely. Those are not the original mirrors and the rear fender/tail light/ tag light assembly has been changed. Images of the smorgasbord under the seat would be telling . . . If the tires are truly original, they will be Pirelli Dragon Corse with DOT date codes from 2000-2001. My original tires certainly never made it to 4,200 miles . . . (2,772 miles! )

  11. heh. i have gone through the cycles of not super happy about it. but I don't blame the bike- mostly me for not properly maintaining it. So its now in oregon in the back of my brothers old truck- which luckily DID make the trip. reason I was traveling up is my mother and brother finally got vaxed - first time I have seen them in 1.5 years. I just booked a flight back to SF as i have to get back to pick up my daughter by tuesday- I ordered a new sensor from MGcycle and the bike will stay here until I come up later in July. I may work on it a bit today but also may just take the day to enjoy - my childhood friend is coming down to meet up etc. anyway, bike trouble aside its a good trip - and at this point coming out of the pandemic--- any experience that is not me sitting at home in front of a computer is actually a good one... even if its pushing a Guzzi down a freeway. at least I know I am alive!

  12. I had them custom done by Todd at Guzzitech. The cans started out as M4 carbon that were shortened. They were inspired off the Giannelli high mounts that were discontinued long ago.
