  1. Yeah, I was never able to quit my day job. And I was lucky that my friend was willing to spend a bunch of money to go racing, as I never would have been able to afford what we did. One of our favorite sayings was "How do you make a small fortune racing motorcycles? Start with a large one".

  3. G'day folk's Well despite fates best attempts to thwart our escape... ie in the middle of a dose of the lurgy I break another large chunk off an already damaged tooth which was just starting to abscess and turn VERY PAINFUL!This being Tuesday I thought best get this sorted so can getaway at the weekend.Emergency extraction on Wednesday wouldn't stop bleeding so possible stitches...?Thankfully it did stop! Come Thursday of course the weather hasn't improved much and get drenched heading to mechanic for last minute check up ( bike not me this time ha ha ) but hot shower afterwards and no more pain from tooth cheered me up quite a bit. Friday weather begrudgingly on the improve and forecast is for a window of opportunity from Saturday with more crap Monday arvo...! So with accommodation already sorted from the other week and spirits running high, come Saturday morning..... We got the hell outa Dodge before fate could reconvene and have another crack at us!! To be continued... Cheers Guzzler

  5. Not Guzzi's (and many here have already seen these two), but my girls live on cork flooring over top of oak flooring (the cork is cheap flooring to protect the solid oak flooring). And glad you found such a sweet V11, FuelCooler. The red frame V11's are my favorite.

  6. This issue has closed quite a few tracks over here. Tracks built and run for 40 years miles from any housing then the developers move in build housing and the people that buy them in full knowledge the track's there then get together to get it closed down due to noise issues. As the old song go's, "Money ruins everything" Phil

  8. Motorcycle racing in the USA has very little money in it. And motorcycle racing here is not a primary consideration for most race tracks. And most race tracks here don't have much money unless they are involved in NASCAR. And what money they do have is mostly spent with a slant towards car racing, because that is where what money there is is at. Petrucci's version of his crash is less than accurate. There were and are issues with the corner working at that and other tracks. But Petrucci's version of what happened to him was not what happened to him. What actually happened to him was not unacceptable in my opinion. There was no reason to risk others given Petrucci's situation.

  9. I watch racing from every place in the world. Irish, British, WSB, MotoGP, Aussie Superbike and Moto America. The thing that stands out to me considering the amount of money sloshing around in the US is how "amateur hour" US racing seems to be. It's like club racing really. It's the same here in Australia but we have the excuse that there's not much money about. The US tracks have almost always the worst looking track surfaces I've ever seen. White bitumen and usually bumpy with patchwork everywhere, they look like they haven't been resurfaced in a hundred years. Then we have COTA and the complete mess they made of the original track and in previous years the total farce of MotoGP bikes riding through a cloud of dust from "track grinding" to remove the bumps just before the event. Couldn't even be bothered to vacuum up all the garbage after the track grinding exercise so the first 2 days looked more like a desert race on the back straight. Not sure whats going on over there with regards to racing. Some beautiful track layouts but poorly surfaced and appointed it seems. As I said money abounds but where it being spent? Petrucci was right to be annoyed after his crash at VIR. He lay on the ground for 35 seconds or so then got to his feet and wandered about for god knows how long before assistance. After a big off a rider being unattended for any amount of time greater than 5 or 10 seconds is unacceptable. Just because the rider is on his feet and walking doesn't mean the incident is over and the situation is under control. A rider can get to his feet and be concussed and confused and wander onto the track and get hit by another competitor even on the cool down lap. I remember a superbike race in the US about 10 years ago where a rider crashed and ended up off track and then actually ran back onto the track and lay down on purpose to bring out the red flag! Probably the most crazy racing thing I've seen. Ciao

  12. Good news. Thank you. The bike came with a Teo Lamers centerstand, and I have a block of wood for the rear tire so as to make the stand usable.

  14. Protest songs and political statements in songs are as old as the road to Rome. And everyone is free to agree or disagree. Hell, I don't agree with everything Bob Dylan wrote. But as you all know, a political discussion is not allowed on this forum! My suggestion: Everybody is free to post music vids. All I ask of you is to think carefully what you post here. And for the people who disagree with the content of some of these videos: just don't react. It's not that hard. Thanks!

  18. Sadly, the oak floor is just an illusion. What you see is vinyl plank flooring……over concrete! It’s actually pretty nice and durable. We all know that the possession of a spine frame is the best indicator of being a true gentleman! My wife would never let me park on a real oak floor………

  22. Here is a video of a V11 going from Christchurch to Akaroa in New Zealand. This is a popular trip around here This seems to be the guy's first ride on a Guzzi, and he has some charming commentary about the bike. https://youtu.be/E3us8tjJRTU And here is my bike at a bay near Akaroa

  23. I seem to recall that the markings are further forward than I expect. Pretty sure TomChri's TDC indicator comes in shy of thirty bucks . .

  24. Iirc one of the letters appears just after that arrow crops up. My eyes are quite good still, but it can be a struggle to see these markings for sure. Especially if the bike isn’t raised up! When i’m tackling the job I find myself on hands and knees, torch in gob, spit dribbling down my chin, squinting like James finlayson and cursing as I glimpse the letter scooting past the window again. If you’ve located the arrow, try going ever so slowly onward and hopefully you’ll spy the letter.
