  2. Rolling out after everyone meticulously selected their preferred routes, destinations, and derived riding partners . . . . . . our small team was fortunate to encounter a "need." I heard Josh say, "Let's try to fix it ." Having benefited from the "ideas" about the area and the lunch spot (and the lake overlook), we navigated back to The Lodge with little precip. Josh noted that our small team represented four decades of Moto Guzzi and suggested a photo op with SIX decades of Moto Guzzi at the SSR: '70s; 80s; 90s; 20s; 'teens; and 2020's . . .

  3. Many of the small towns in our region were built along the railroads. Quite a few have an old caboose on display honoring that heritage. I put together a day ride that took in five cabooses (plus the BBQ Caboose Café ), 215 miles, 8 counties. . . . and 2 happy Guzzisti on their romping Sports . . .

  4. Decided yesterday that I'm pulling the pin. As of 21st of Feb this year I'll be handing off Motomoda, the company I've been running for 30+ years to Michael, my offsider. He's spent the last five years absorbing Guzzi knowledge and is more than up to speed on everything built this millenium. Most of our work in the last fifteen years has been V11 and CARC bike related and that will likely continue, although it'll be his business to do with as he chooses. Im 67 in February, I don't have the time or the strength to learn another whole generation of bikes and my health has been declining rapidly. I have no desire to die in harness as it were. I'll still be around as Michael can't ride or move the bikes around but the roles will be reversed. He's the boss and I'll just be the hired help! Please patronise him for parts and service. He knows his shit and will need customers and your support to keep the wheels turning. Cheers guys. Pete

  6. So my buddy Mike has been filming a series of interviews at his Cul De Sac. It's a way to socially distance and still get a motorcycle fix during this wee pandemic. It's mostly British bikes because, well, that's what his channel is about but that doesn't mean there can't be some diversity. Some of his viewers have been clamoring for some Guzzis so I rounded up my friend Terry and gave them a double dose.   9. I came across these old personal images I had posted on the internet years ago. I had forgotten all about them but when I went looking for images of brake reaction rods etc there they were. This was my Bimota DB1 with its custom alloy fuel tank (hidden) its Racing Campag wheels ( hand cut slick on the back) Staintune mufflers made for me by Sandy that owns Staintune, four piston Brembo calipers and other mods I cant remember. In the background is my lovely modified Hailwood Mille that I smashed to bits,sigh and the fairing for my TT2 Ducati race bike just peaking out there. Here is our race bike after finishing the the 86 F1 TT. back to camera brown jacket Axle the owner of the bike, facing in the leather is Pete Muir our rider in the blue jumper is an English race whose name I have forgotten but we got friendly with and he assisted us in our pit stops when he wasn't racing. Next to our bike is the winning factory Honda of Roger Burnett, or Roger Hairnet as we called him. Here's Aussie superbike Champ and also successful WSB rider Mal Campbell at Sydneys Oran park for the 87 swan series on the Factory NR 750 oval pistoned race bike Honda sent over for him to ride that year. Mal was a factory Honda rider at the time and Aussie Champ as well if memory serves. ten years later I was mechanicing for him at the Aussie WSB round on a Privateer Ducati 996. Still racing now Mal and still way faster than most at Phillip Island on Post Classic bikes like Suzuki RG500's. 86 TT and David Tardozzi's Works Bimota that he later destroyed at the Glen Helen section. We went and helped pick it up and it was a molten pool of wreckage in the middle of the road as it had caught fire. Totally destroyed. Bathurst 85 and the late great Roger Freeths Macintosh Suzuki, note the Monocoque Suzuki Superbike in the background.( https://amcn.com.au/editorial/monocoque-master-steve-roberts/) Also note the unpainted bronze welded frame on the Mcintosh so he could keep and eye out for any developing crack in this prototype frame.Macintosh built beautiful bespoke frames for all sorts of stuff back then and we could buy road kits of this exact bike. Roger was actually and Astrophysicist and part time racer who was very very good and used to win this yearly race regularly and was also Mulitple NZ champion. He also was a keen rally car navigator at national level in NZ for Possum Bourne and was tragically killed in a rally car accident way too young. Totally fast and safe bike racer though. Swan international series 87 Oran Park and factory Yamaha GP racer Rob Mcelnea. Our working arrangements at the 86 TT sharing a house with Steve Wynn's crew. Our bike in the background, with back to camera is rider Pete Muir, partially hidden in red overalls is the bikes owner Axel and in the foreground is Wynn's bikes. None of the Steves bikes finished a lap in anger that year, we finished every race and practice session. They weren't amused at the time. The others are visiting German spectators that dropped by apart from the two Pete is talking to who were Aussies visiting. My TT2 race bike. I built this from factory parts and a second hand engine brought up to factory specs. I had a perfect example to follow as Axles bike was a genuine factory bike.My first attempt at 2K painting as I recall. My old 888 race bike with sump extension and home made rear brake disk and carrier. I didn't like the Brembo rear caliper at the time and decided to use the Nissan. factory frame, Ohlins GP forks, no brake torque arm, Marchesini wheels carbon tank and fairings, Corse radiator.   11. The bike is in mint condition. Its based on a 2004 Canadian imported Ballabio Sport. I have the full documentation and official paperwork from Guzzi to verify this. V11 SPECIFICATION DATE of manufacture: 2004 UK REG 1-1-2020 MILEAGE: 6786 MILES (may rise as the bike is used) MOT: Will have 12 month MOT dated from 31-8-23 MODIFICATIONS: New Ducati 900 classic fairing fitted with custom built brackets New LED halo headlight New LED taillight fitted and frenched into the rear bodywork New LED micro indicators fitted front and rear. New steel mounting bracket fabricated for rear indicators and license plate. Stock airbox removed and twin cone filters installed. New battery fitted New rocker covers fitted with vapour blasted / polished finish. New stainless exhaust fabricated with cross over and stainless Delkevic stainless silencers. Front and rear brake calipers stripped, powder coated graphite grey and fully rebuilt with new pads Wheels stripped and powder coated graphite grey. New bearings fitted. Silver rim decals made and applied. New stainless steel infill panel with Guzzi logo fabricated for top yoke. Full professional respray in Kawasaki candy burnt orange, graphite grey metallic with silver pin striping and off white tail panels. Guzzi logos airbrushed in. Various hexhead bolts replaced with new stainless items. New bar end mirrors fitted. Alternator cover refinished silver MECHANICAL- all worked carried out by Jason at 1921 Moto, Guisley. All fluids changed. Bike fully serviced. Ignition system, injection and timing set up. New clutch, pressure plate and release bearing fitted. Front brake hydraulic balance hose relocated. Brake calipers rebuilt with new pads. The bike runs beautifully £6999 UK sterling

  14. For my son Landon. I know the gasoline ICE purist will not like the fact that its an electric bike, but that's the world young Landon grew up into. The EFTR Jr is a replica of the FTR Carbon, capable of 7mph in low and 15 mph in high settings. It has front and rear brakes with rear adjustable suspension. Learning battery charging management will probably do him well in his lifetime. My first bike was a smoking(literally) Italian made 50cc two stroke, Indian badged import from the 70's, I loved that bike and its still in my parents garage today.

  15. My Sport has passed the 22 year ownership point, nearly 128,000 miles/ 206.000 km Needless to say I have sourced some parts. On another recent thread I listed a few of my current sources and said that I had parts on the way from six of them: MGCycle (Wisconsin, USA), CadreCycle (Ohio, USA), TLM (Teo LaMers, Nederlands), Agostini (Mandello del Lario, Italy), Harpers (Missouri, USA), Stein-Dinse (Germany), "ebay", "Amazon", and so many others . . . Not the least of which are the generous members of this fine V11LeMans.com community. You folks rock! Three or four years ago, a South'n SpineRaider handed me white face, Veglia tachometer and said, "Pretty sure you will find a home for this." Last year it got mounted to a member's LeMans. Several years ago, I got a PM from a member who said he had sold his V11, but wanted to send me his spares pile. I've been handing them out ever since. Recently, I was reminded that AliExpress (Chinese "amazon"?) is a resource, as well. When we find alternative sources for specific parts, please post in @Scud's Encyclopedia of Compatible Parts. Otherwise, I just wish to report that parts, spares, and alternative sources remain available. No V11 should be laid-up for lack of functional parts. Having the Parts Catalog listings/part numbers for your exact application, and knowing how to search specific source sites, along with exactly what to order is, perhaps, the greatest challenge.

  17. What a great thread!! It is so important to recognize the visceral nature and emotional impact of the bikes. I was immediately attracted to the V7 Sport, but did not own a Guzzi until 1977, when I purchased a T-3. I rode that for a year and then traded it on a 1978 Lemans 850. That may have been the best motorcycle I have ever ridden, but sadly I crashed in 1979 and then took a wrong turn toward BMW ownership. 5 bikes and 20 years later I returned to my true love when I purchased a V11 Sport in 2000. I put 60,000 blissful miles on that bike until a women yacking on her cell phone ran a stop sign and totaled her out. I spent the next 10 years searching for a replacement and luckily last year I found her in Missouri. I am once again experiencing motorcycle bliss and I intend to ride this incredible machine into the sunset!!

  22. My Griso 8v and V11 LeMans. Both are amongst the best sporting Guzzi’s of recent years. The demise of the big block Guzzi’s is why I cannot get excited about anything in their current line up. Bobbers and small block Adventure bikes just don’t do it for me I’m afraid .....

  24. This is the second time I ran into @activpop at the Portland Cars and Coffee. Last time he was on I believe his Stelvio? Anyways this time he brought a proper Guzzi. I had the kiddo with me so no riding. We had one of those sneaky warm days (high was about 75F later in the day) in the early Spring. They are always welcome. The bike looks and sounds fantastic. The Titaniums are definitely not as loud as Mistrals but not everyone has to be a hooligan. One of these days I'll unbury the V11 and bring it out too.

So because of a huge house renovation, I have not had a lot of time to ride my Italian bikes However, the previous car was increasing in maintenance (and a diesel, which was not the right choice anymore), so I wanted something else. And well, the Italian blood was already there, so I bought my 4th Italian vehicle, this time with 4 wheels.

  26. "Sold the V11, bought a different bike". Really? Well sort off... I have always admired the look of the V11 with the higher mounted Titanium exhausts, and once came very close to buying a pair, however they were damaged and I liked the look of the original carbon-fiber ones on my Mandello Rosso better. So when a member on here offered a set of carbon high-mount Gianelli's for sale, I went for it. He also threw a Stucchi crossover into the deal (thanks Crazyhorse!). Mounted them last Tuesday. Oh my, what a sound! Not much louder, but a whole lot deeper. But, did I imagine it revving much quicker between 3000 and 5000 rpm? Went for a ride. I'm not sure how much is to contribute to the Gianelli cans or to the Stucchi crossover, but WHAT a difference in mid-range pull! From 3000rpms onwards she just goes and goes. Like I bought a different bike.

  30. Fantastic ride out of around 150 miles today to a Buell & Guzzi meet at Sywell Aerodrome. I rode down with a group of 4 bikes; my V11, 1100 Sport Corsa, Cali 950 & a Triumph Tiger 800. My V11 and the 1100 Sport were the only spine frames there amongst the masses of V85’s & V7’s, even 2 new V100’s. The ride pace was “brisk” with many miles of winding B roads covered with surprisingly high velocities for old school air cooled Guzzi’s

I never liked the look of Guzzi’s when I was a teenager riding Yamaha & Suzuki two stroke twins & triples in the 80’s & 90’s, I used to think the proportions were all wrong on Guzzi’s of that vintage. That was until one day I saw a Daytona parked in a car park, I had to go over & take a closer look, “wow” I thought “ that’s a Moto Guzzi,.. they can get it right.!” I loved the muscular stance of it & walked away pretty impressed. A few years later I was looking for a bike & was intent on a Ducati 1098, although after a test ride I thought, “I’ll lose my licence on this for sure”. A few days later I spied a Coppa Italia in the window of a local Guzzi dealer, I had to go & check it out. I was quite smitten but unable to afford it, the dealer did however have a 2004 Cafe Sport for sale which I could afford, I took it for a test ride & loved it, I thought then & still think now that there is no better sounding motorcycle, particularly with the cat removed & some nice pipes fitted. Mine has a mistral crossover & nice pair of Australian made Staintunes, & imho it sounds like a symphony!. I’ve owned it for the last thirteen years & the more I ride it the more I love it, dropping it deep into a bend scraping my boot off the road & opening it right up on the exit is just the best..

  37. It's been 5 years since my Corso passed away. I miss having a dog. I picked her up a couple weeks ago, she's a 2 month old "Blue" Cane Corso. My God, I got a refresher course on what Hell Raiser's little puppy's can be :/
