  2. That's amazing, at least to me. Very nice to find original documentation for a vehicle like that. Do you know if it sold new in Alaska through a dealer? There are no MG dealerships here, but I have dealt with dealers who are willing to be a hub for the shipping of a marque they don't sell. Did the other two owners live in Alaska before being shipper to TX? We have a short riding season so low mileage machines can be the norm. Thanks for the post. Really enjoyed it.
  3. Wow. That's unexpected for Sitka, but we cycle addicts are all over. I was in Sitka for two weeks back in 1992 or 1993, but didn't see any MGs. Way more boats and airplanes. I see you're from New Westminster. I've been through there 8 times driving from Alaska to the U.S. East Coast, including this summer. Are there many winding roads for you to enjoy your bikes?
  4. Yes, I've seen where minimum would be to replace the cam belts and all fluids. Depending on how it's been stored it would probably need many seals and the tires. It doesn't seem smart to buy it, spend even more money on it to ride it, where it would most likely be worth around half. They do look beautiful, but I have never seen a Moto Guzzi on Alaska roads, let alone a Daytona.
  5. Chump change notwithstanding , I'm leaning further from this purchase. $25K could buy something just as special that I could feel positive about riding, i.e., the normal and expected depreciation. Alaska is a tough place to own a Moto Guzzi (no dealers). I like the Aprilia marque, but the only dealer here is known to be shady and has a bad reputation. A lot of good info has been sent my way and it is greatly appreciated. And the $25K is just the asking price. We haven't had a chance to discuss the final numbers as yet.
  6. Thanks for your post. That was a lot of info and I can see why you would love your Daytona, especially considering it belonged to a friend. Hate to hear why he decided to sell. Seems as though you have some history and experience with Moto Guzzi, which I do not. It's the reason I have asked for input. My heart can't really speak to me about this bike. I know it is a unique opportunity, I love motorcycles and am gaining a lot of affinity for the MG brand. Again, thanks for your post. I have a decision to make pretty soon!
  7. I know what you're saying. Degenerative Disc Disease in my neck and back. Two lumbar surgeries and two neck surgeries. Riding upright on my HD hurts my back and helps my neck. My sport bike riding helps my back and hurts my neck. I love riding and motorcycles so much that I do ride through the pain because the thrill is greater than the pain. I know most die hard riders are exactly the same. Just being around bikes is enjoyable. Maybe I'll take up the luge!
  8. Thank you, guys, for the input. Seems like your opinion is that it wouldn't be much of an investment monetarily, and since I am unfamiliar with the ecstasy of riding an MG I agree that I really won't miss what I don't have experience with. I'm leaning more to the "not buying" side of the argument. It is a lot of cash and I could buy a new MG or other Italian sport bike and ride for a while, gaining some more memories to reflect upon. Again, much obliged.
  9. That makes even the normal Guzzi depreciation look easy! Truly. I don't see this bike being like a really rare Ducati or Bimota. You could start here. I understand some people's aversion to "private museums". Not a big fan either. But I have a spinal disease that may prevent me from riding sport bikes (maybe any bikes) in the future. I still love these style bikes and will buy whatever makes me remember how it felt. So I could have been more specific, but just really wanted some ideas about the marque and this model and it's desirability, which you definitely responded to. Thanks. BTW, I posted the same question on Guzziriders.org as I wasn't aware of this one as yet. Many comments are about how I should go ahead as it is a rare bike for that year. Thanks for the posts so far. Love to hear straight-shooters.
  10. Hi. I'm new to the Moto Guzzi forum and the marque. but an acquaintance has offered me his never ridden or titled 93 Daytona. Asking $25K U.S. and here are 2 of the 4 pics I have so far. Will get more detailed photos later. Any advice or info about this model would be greatly appreciated.
