  1. I heard BMW stood for "Big Money Wasted" I like Italian Engineering! Especially in Red (I have two red Alfas from the 80's)
  2. I am hearing "save the Mk III no matter how personalized it is"
  3. I was riding my Quota in Ohio Amish country a few weeks ago, it seems the Amish ladies have embraced electric bicycles, so you know that this is the future because the Amish are trend setters!
  4. Thanks Pete! This is what I was looking for. I rode a Mk III a little while ago, about the only thing original about it was the owner, but that bike only seemed happy with half throttle and above, but I am not sure of what all was done to it besides the obvious things I could see. And that has me looking for a mid/late 80's Guzzi again.
  5. They are fun, mine gives me that special feeling like the RC30, hard to put a finger on it. I perfected the 4 wheel drift in mine by staying late at work in Atlanta. Back then traffic would clear out by 7:00pm, I would take the downtown connector south to the International Blvd. (I think it had a different name back then) exit, two lanes banked to the left, with no other cars you could go as fast as you wanted, not sure how many times I took that curve, but it was always worth the extra hours at work. A lot of Alfa folks would say the Alfetta was better balanced with the 4 cylinder engine, but the V6 up front and the Transxale in the rear, the car had beautiful balance, you could make steering corrections mid-corner with the throttle.
  6. Just another Alfa. ALFA = Always Looking For Another, but I feel the same way about Guzzi's.
  7. It was mine too, I bought this one in '95 from Spruell in Atlanta with 120k miles, it was my daily driver for a number of years, I would work late just to let traffic clear out so I could enjoy the commute home. The Alfasud was a cool car with the flat four, but they were known to rust, sometimes before they left the dealer....
  8. I know, right? I do keep spares just in case....
  9. Thanks doc! To further the inquest, is the casting the same between the heads so just different valve sizes? Or, can I turn a medium valve head into a large valve head by swapping valves and a little machine work?
  10. Very close, the V6 version of the Alfetta, '86 GTV6 with almost a quarter million miles....
  11. Is there a source that talks about the different Guzzi cylinder heads? Looking at a 1000cc (square head) bike with broken fins, just wondering what options are for a replacement head if I move forward.
  12. Already have one, they are special motorcycles, these are racing motorcycle with lights and mirrors, not production bikes made to go fast. First gear is so tall, but the rest of them are so close. Still ride mine from time to time, but with values going up, just one more thing in the back of my mind during the ride. I did spend a day at Barber on mine, I did the Class motorcycle school the first year Barber opened. The bike was more at home on the track than I was, but still a fun day, even getting passed by Reg while he was two up. I do miss my Greenie...
  13. Love the Little Feat quotes, one of my favorite bands! Now, if we could work in lyrics from a Fat Man in the Bathtub.. Hay Mama, hey, let me check your oil alright?
  14. Home! Had a lot of fun! Good to meet everyone, and if you are caravaning down the Interstate pulling trailers, Adam is a heck of a Wing Man!
  15. Not far out of the way, I can drop it, I come down 23, seems a short detour down 123 to get there, when is the package showing up? Driving down Wed and then back the following Monday.
  16. Where in GA? I'll be in Monroe next week so I can bring it down to you, I come from NC through Dillard, Commerce, Athens, then Monroe, so if that is not too far, I would be happy to help.
  17. I'm an hour away, see you in the morning, trailer was slick this morning...
  18. I got a little last minute maintenance done today, I will load up tomorrow and stay in Lenoir City tomorrow night and be there bright and early Friday.
  19. They told me no breakfast at this time, not sure about coffee, I might bring my own (coffee), but a group breakfast at a sit down place sounds good.
  20. If I had a bigger trailer I would bring my RC30, but I'll stick with the Italian theme (this year).
  21. Lucas, the Prince of Darkness? Are you sure it is not the wiring smoke issue?
  22. I'm going to have to order a Bosch off the interweb, might get a blue Bosch coil at the same time just to have, but... SUCCESS!!!! Chased my tail for a $10 part that I can't test... I just bought what they had on hand, made in Taiwan, maybe better than Mexico or China, not sure, but after putting the right end on it, she fired up and ran great. Let her run on the lift for a while, sounded good, I think the idle has picked up a little, after about 10 minutes of that, out on the road. Last time it was the second climb up the hill where she started to miss, this time she did fine, even rode down to a buddy's house and then back, maybe 5 miles, but that is 4 more than last time. I will keep a spare condenser with the bike going forward and a small slotted screwdriver and an 8mm wrench, which may be in the tool bag. Now, about 2 more hours for the Boston Butt and all will be right with the world, at least for me!!! Thanks for the help!
