  1. Believe it or not, the maximum speed limit in the whole country is 80 km/h. In Port Vila, the limit is 50 km/h and in some of the villages, even less. However, there are no radars, speed cameras, speed traps or even pursuit vehicles - but any big bike is easily recognised. The ring road is about 160 km so if there are no stops, a bit over two and a half hours if you stick to the limits. A TT? Perhaps with Stelvios or equivalent - but you'd need a lot of people to ensure the pigs and dogs stayed off the road.
  2. I've only been here for 15 months and the bike was in a container and storage for about 10 months - which didn't do the battery any favours, hence the curiosity about LiFe units. Prior to that I was in Australia (Darling Downs, Queensland) and the Le Mans was my daily ride to work and weekend tourer. Corrosion is a big problem, particularly as I live right on Mele Bay. I've had to tidy up a few switches and terminals but I keep wondering what is going to happen next. Normal lead acid batteries in vehicles here usually have to be replaced within 2 years. I have no doubt that AGMs would last longer. The prolonged storage, and perhaps the crappy roads, has affected the battery and I need to ensure it's charged before riding it anywhere.
  3. Sorry for the late reply, I don't check this site very often. As far as I know, there is only one other Guzzi in Vanuatu and it's a 1993 model California. Apart from the ring road around the island (Efate), the roads are generally awful. After heavy rain, pot holes are common and it's like riding a slalom course to dodge them. It also takes a while for them to be repaired as the funds allocation for road maintenance is abysmal. Sorry, no photos of roads.
  4. I've had 2 x Deka ETX14 AGMs in the Le Mans. Each lasted 8 years so I got another one.
  5. It's closer to 1200 miles. Parts for lots of things are hard to come by Docc. It will hopefully be easier once the borders open. We have no active covid cases here.
  6. Acknowledge the prep, clamping and curing times. I used to follow the Australian Bush Pilot's group on Facebook. It would be great if they flew over here. A bit out of their range though

  9. Thanks Chuck. I thought about Metalset or J-B Weld. Not sure if they're available here. As I wrote before, I'd prefer to get a replacement but I'd like to ride again this year.
  10. Ah, so you understand the mail service. It's worse since the covid issue. We probably speak similar language. I've been a fixed and rotary wing maintainer, supervisor, logistician and engineer during my working life. Retired to Vila last year.
  11. Unfortunately Phil the mail here is practically non-existent and even if it does arrive in country, it has been known to 'go missing'. I've checked out eBay etc and would much prefer to get a replacement but waiting 6 months (typically) for mail is a bit beyond a joke, hence the post.
  12. My bike is a 2001 V11 Le Mans. Has anybody had any experience with re-gluing the magnets back into the Valeo starter motor? Specifically which adhesive to use. I've cleaned out the assembly and the magnets, I read on a BMW forum how to place and hold the magnets but getting a particular adhesive could be a problem. The BMW forum didn't specify the adhesive but I'm fairly sure it would be an epoxy. By the way, my nearest Guzzi dealer is Tom Newell in Brisbane, Australia and, as far as I know, there is only one other Moto Guzzi here in Vanuatu, a '93 Cali.
