  1. Hi Plexiform I wasn't expecting to be sending it to CA , I hope you haven't paid too much for postage , I've only just started using the GSP on ebay and sold a few bits overseas now. I know for us buying from the US is too expensive, not just the post but import tax at our end, I don't think you pay any in the US, is that right? I doubt you'll get it before March 6th , I can't post it until Monday 1st , probably best to wait a few days to delay things and get it sent to your new address. You've got some nice bikes , I sold my Guzzi Cafe Sport as my knees just couldn't handle it , big disappointment as I loved that bike. I've just bought (last year) an 03 Suzuki DL1000 fully loaded with luggage and all the toys so hoping to do some camping /touring this year if we're allowed to. Thanks Steve

  4. It looks like all my photos have gone because the host must have changed something. (photobox.co.uk) Anyone got any ideas on how to get them linked back in?. They're still on the site but must have been given a new link or something. This thread needs the photos..I was really proud of it. UPDATE....I didn't realise I can still edit these old posts...It'll take some time and working out which photos to use but I think I can get it all done soon. 10 mins later all done! ENJOY
  5. It is with huge regret that I have decided to sell my V11 Cafe Sport. My knees just can't deal with the riding position and I need to thin my bikes down a bit too. Here is a link to how I got the bike... Cafe Sport from Czech It is a cracking bike all UK registered now and MOT'd. I'll add some more photos once the weather improves. I had the Ohlins steering damper rebuilt I have changed the KMH ITI speedo for an electronic MPH one featured in this thread...   8. I saw this a few months ago and can't believe it hasn't sold. Moto Guzzi V11 1100cc £6995 for what is a new bike and not likely to come across one ever again quite like it. When you think a Ducati Sport Classic would be £20k , If I hadn't bought my Cafe Sport then I would surely buy this. Not sure about those cans though, they look very long, might just be the way it's photographed.

  10. I have an Ohlins damper on my Cafe Sport and it moves just like that. I've just had it rebuilt by BG Motorsport, Silverstone and I wondered about that but I suppose it needs to move freely in all directions.
  11. I have a 1000 Supersport and love it. Engine above 5k is sublime , brakes , handles very well indeed. Also very comfortable for me. Same engine as the Classics but with far better suspension for a fraction of the price. I paid £2200 for mine and it's mint.

  13. So the backlight issue was my fault of course...didn't read the manual that came with the speedo. I hadn't powered up the backlight (I thought it would be there with main power but you are supposed to connect it to the light switch, which we don't have) Anyway I powered it from the other bulb wire and it all works fine. Thought I would take another photo of the speedo in the bike with the cover removed. You can see the wee rubber damper things. The ends of those need to be 82mm from the back of the bezel, it's easy to adjust using the thumbscrews and a small spanner.
  14. Just been out for a quick ride to test it and all seems good. I think the speed displayed is near spot on. I totally love this bike..it handles so well for a heavy lump..definitely a keeper.
  15. I think they would Scud. He mentioned it to me when I ordered mine but I think they would need to do quite a large number (50-100) to make it work. I'll ask when I speak to them next week. I might be sending mine back as It doesn't illuminate, I've gone through all the functions and have it set at 100% brightness but only the LED gets brighter! I would have thought it should have a back light don't you? " Nice work. I think that's the most elegant speed sensor I've seen so far."..I think so too . Also with the speedo, there is no holes to drill etc in the cover.
  16. So it's all finished, not difficult really, I reckon I could do the whole job in an hour now having done it once. This is the cover back on and the 3 wires on show, the purple is for the button. Yellow (Daytona) - Yellow (speedo) Yellow (Bike bulb) - Green (speedo) - Red (Daytona) Black (Bike bulb) - Black (speedo) - Black (Daytona) Then just push them carefully up into the void. You could (and I might) cut the bullet connectors out and do a neat solder job with heat shrink for a neater , albeit permanent job. All done! I noticed the Speedo doesn't illuminate , might have to send it back , ETB are on holiday all next week so it'll have to wait. (It does now that I powered up the cable for it ) RTFM! Probably get the matching tacho too. This is how the Daytona sensor looks, no need for anything here, it doesn't come into contact with the FI linkage at all. I hope this has been useful, it really was easy to do and should be good for a long time. Can't wait to test it out once I get the bike back together. I noticed my tank rubbing on that plastic shield thing and found the rubbers to be either worn or "modified" I turned them so the cut part is not being used by the tank and it no longer rubs.

  18. The wiring is very simple too. I took power and earth from one of the two bulbs that came out the ITI unit. The green is power for the ETB speedo so I doubled that and put a male bullet connector to connect for the Daytona sensor. Same for the Earth. The Yellow Signal from the Daytona sensor plugs into the ETB Yellow which makes it easy. That's it! There's a hole load of other wires for various inputs into the ETB speedo. I just tied these up. The little button I am going to put up through the left handlebar hole in the tope yoke (this is because mine has had clip ons fitted so the original handlebar holes are still there). This will mean I don't have to drill that lovely dash. The M4 dampers arrived today so I'll get on and fit the speedo now. £5 from eBay.
  19. Well this does fit..It took me about 10mins to do, it's very easy. You just need a 9.5mm drill bit and a way of holding that collar, i did it in my press. It's a 3 core cable coming out , it's 5mm diameter, very easy to manipulate out the way of the linkage. The actual unit is tiny, look at it in my dirty fingers, it's about 30mm long. No need for machine work or adaptors. I'm thinking of going forwards with mine so under the FI unit.

  21. I drilled the collar out to 9.5mm, enough to let it slide down the sender body but stop at the end flange..picture explains it. Fits in now This is what i've done with the speedo. I cut a plastic disc out using a 79mm hole saw ( I had one amazingly) from on old 3phase junction box I was going to chuck out. Then mounted it to the ETB screws and after much messing about managed to mark and drill the holes for the Guzzi cover. Just need those M4 dampers now.
  22. Ok so I've been and had a look at things and I've come up with a plan. I decided to remove the rubber casing/jacket thing around the Daytona/Acewell unit, I did this very carefully with a new blade in my scalpel not going right through just part way and then tearing it. This allowed me to slide the M12 Cap up the cable and one at a time over the bullet connectors so we end up with this. The cable can now be carefully bent down very easily and kept out the way of the throttle linkage above. Next was to remove the old speedo cable from the bike and cut the end off so I could remove the large cap and collar/insert thing. The plan is to use this to slide down the new sender unit and use it to fix to the bike ...only small snag is the collar/insert needs drilling out from 8mm to 9.5 so it can slide down the body of the unit and get held by the flange. I might saw the very end off the small cap as it was made for this. I'll carry on later after a cup of tea. Everyone keeping up? If there is anything that doesn't make sense please shout up and i'll have a go at explaining better.
  23. So i've hit a big hurdle.. I was under the impression the Acewell S4/Daytona speed sensor would screw straight onto the boss coming out the gearbox...well it doesn't! the male thread from the gearbox is much larger, maybe M14 not M12 like the Acewell. What's more you can't get a sensor that will have an M14 female end on it so it looks like some fabrication work is required. The good thing is that the sensor has no resistance at all so with the knurled nut removed somehow it could be held in another way, I was thinking heat shrink tube or something like that. It's very tight in there too, very close to the throttle linkage.
  24. That's pretty much what I will do only these ETB gauges have 2 posts not 1 like yours. So I will fix another blank plastic disc to them and then drill new holes to fit the M4 dampers. I'll put some photos up soon.
  25. John at ETB already tested it and said it worked fine..I sent it to him for that reason. Hoping to cover the gauges back up, very easy to install if you don't as you can use the two angle brackets supplied with it but you can't use them and reinstall the covers. I'll take some photos and post what I do tomorrow.
