    V11 wanted

Welcome from the land of evil spirits! Nice Rosso. Low mileage, I would suspect. The good news is that you have dodged the pesky problems of the early bikes. The "rest of the story" is that these bikes have loads of personality - even if that personality is bi-polar at times, passive-aggressive at others, and occasionally, what I refer to as "improved French" The transmission has a neutral but no owner does.
  2. This is the later flat crank model.
  3. BUNA-N, i.e. Nitrile. The "garter" spring indicates a seal which can take some heat and pressure. Ya' know, you can get 15-26-7 double BUNA-N sealed ball bearings. A thin film of RTV to seal it against shaft and housing. The only problem is that shifting might be so smooth and effortless that there would be an apocalyptic, horrific reaction in all of nature.
  4. Once you know the size, they are cheap. Material is the second qualifier. The "$1.00" + S/H seal is BUNA-N, with a garter spring.
  5. The long frame V11s seem to be so oversprung in the rear that it is not really needed unless two-up.
  6. For those so inclined...I just received this tank sealer special from KBS Coatings. Coupon code J121 will get 15% off. They describe fiberglass tanks in their instructions, but it seems that nylon would also be treatable.
  7. Yes, very cool, that. Will have to pull my tank to see how they messed up (designed) the black frames. Ugh. Well, it ain't running anyway. Say, any room for a 12V computer fan atop that rectifier? I know that on Kwackers, they die a lot from heat.
  8. OK, frame spuds on an eccentric. Or spring-loaded fore-aft spuds. Don't want the tank loose, but don't want it to "banana" from being squeezed. I have a 1982 650 Seca with a tank I coated in 1983 (new replacement) with aircraft tank slushing compound. Fuller-O'Brien used to make it. It's still there. Still rubbery-tacky. Chuck will know.
  9. Spring-loaded pucks would be nice, but I'm dreaming.
  10. Welcome from the land of evil spirits! All of my cylinders are either straight up or at a 45. Can't do that lay down thing.
  11. There is also lubricant/preservative sprays to fog the cylinders.
  12. Flip the aluminum washer over next time and use a thin coat of wheel bearing grease on both sides. Never had a leak.
  13. Sadly the pair on eBay is in the states.
  14. Beard is too short for a boxer rider.
  15. Was no M/C endorsement when I got my first driver's license. Couple of years later, non-biker legislators decided that they needed more money and invented a M/C endorsement. Was grandfathered in, so have never taken the test. Oh, at renewal, they ding you for the M/C "endorsement" alright.
  16. Machine the V11 fins round, removing a minimum, and retrofit to a Tonti frame.
  17. Christmas is intended to be a time of both joy and peace. Two things that seem utterly lacking these days. May all take even a moment to slow down and give thanks for what we have and what we are promised. Merry/Happy Christmas/Fröhliche Weinachten to all and may 2021 not actually be worse!
  18. I'll certainly e watching more of it.
  19. This popped up on my YouTube feed and it's a rather nicely done Tonti - well, 3/4 of a Tonti anyway, as he explains.
  20. Fellow on eBay - someone here may know him - has various clearance Ducati stuff. Also some Guzzi, Triumph, Morini etc. bits. Seems like he shops at the factory or??? The 2000-on Monster CF fairing might just fit with some mods to the mount kit. No windshield screws. Faux Scura anyone? Or a new 748 head for $24.99? Nice coffee table or garage wall conversation starter. New 600 Monster Marzocchi forks for $99.50 (caveat: both are right side). He also has some Duc speedos and tachs - was there any interchange with Guzzi?
  21. Well, so much for that idea. On my TX650 Yam, the oil breather dripped constantly. So, I bored a hole in the left case just over the primary sprocket. Rode 15k around the US one summer and the chain was fine. Guzzi. Well, that's quite another story.
  22. After a rocker ate the intake cam in my Kawi 500, I installed an oil drain plug from GoldPlug. Made in USA even. No listing for Guzzi specifically, but they surely have one to fit.
  23. What an absolute horror. Despite the enormity of it all, having some experience in the cancer realm, I can say that children are amazingly resilient. They can tolerate levels of treatment that we cannot, and tend to bounce right back. Sending prayers heavenward!
  24. Have any stichery skills? A black nylon bandoleer of magnets wrapped around and velcroed in place would give you that 24/7 tactical all Molle all the time look.
  25. It is said that there will always be an England. That aside, there will certainly always be an Italy - their disorder has become such an ingrained structure that it cannot collapse upon itself.
