  1. I posted this after some members were wondering what ecm model was in their bike because the ID tag was no longer visable.  Kevin T stated that it can be found with Guzzidiag so, I posted a GD snapshot of my Lemans.  ECM type can be seen in the lower left corner.

Did you need to extend the cables, to fit these?

No but I'm right there if you know what I mean...front brake hose almost has no slack with forks fully extended and the start/kill sw wiring had to be rerouted slightly.  I don't think I can bring them back any further without replacing hoses and lengthening wiring.  Also, it might cause interference issues with the fuel tank.  The forks are about a 1/2" higher in the clamps with these risers vs the oem clip ons, i don't notice any difference in handling but the bike sits more "upright" on the side stand because of the risers.

  3. Hi Tom,

No problem!  I went to the GutsiBits website and didn't see anything in the way of bar risers for the v11 Lemans.  I reached out to MPH to see what their risers look like from the riders viewpoint.

    Thanks,

  4. Nice!

I've got a HF venturi action vac bleeder that works well and a homemade job that'll suck gear oil...they're great.   I had to open the system on my '87 LMIVSE back in '10 when I got it, to refill the system,  I connected a 2 foot line to the bottom oriented caliper bleed and gravity fed through the caliper up to the reservoir or maybe I used a syringe to force fluid up into the system....I don't recall exactly how I did it now but a positive pressure bleed would have definitely been helpful/quicker/cleaner.

  5. Hi LP,

What's up with the axle pics?  I see the "newer" looking one weighs less??!!  The axle that appears like the wheel bearing had spun on it....Is that normal?  My rear axle looks like that, I can feel a slight steps/ridges on mine.  I attribute the wear to the misplacement of the large washer that normally goes between the rear drive and swing arm being improperly place between the wheel external drive splines & rear drive internal drive splines.  Yep, you read that right.  I'm just glad I caught it befor eit ruined the any splines since the washer only allowed partial spline engagement.  Anyway, back to the "stepped" axle....to me, it obviously looks worn due to a bearing spin.  I'd like to replace the axle if I come across a good used one but haven't been successful at that yet.  Maybe i should get off my wallet and buy new, if available??!!   Thoughts?

Oh, my wheel bearings feel ok and I couldn't detect any unusual wear with the bearing i.d.

Vintage car leds is working very well in 3 of my bikes, 3 years now.

    Cheers Tom.

I believe you!  I may have to put my thriftiness on the back burner and get off my wallet for something that has great longevity...darnit!

  7. The above is a partial view of two timing cover gaskets I bought for my Lemans.  The gasket on the left is an aftermarket item that does not line up with bolt holes, when dry fit it distorts and will not lay flat on cover mating surface.  Since I wasn't confident about using this gasket I bought a "genuine" Guzzi gasket (#05001231) on the right.  The gasket on the right fits, lines up with bolt holes, lays flat when dry fit, etc.  Now the question is... should this be installed with or without gasket sealer???!!!

  8. Tom,

How much rise did you get from your bar risers?  I have DAS Mototec risers on mine.  If I could get a little more rise it would definitely be more comfortable for me.  Replacing the OE hoses & cables wouldn't be a problem.

Also, the bike had lowered pegs on it when I got it.  I swapped back to the OE pegs because I'm barely 5'8" anymore and while I'm far from being a hot rodder, it was very easy to grind the aftermarket pegs on pavement.

  9. Hi Tom,

The original owner told me the bags & mounts are HB's.  I hear you about the cruise control, I've got cc on my Wing and it is one of the deciding factors in possibly getting my hands on a v85tt.  The my V11 has a very light throttle pull imo and I really haven't seen a need for a throttle lock, cc on it.  My V11 has bar risers that are as high and rearward as possible without longer br & clutch hoses & wiring mods.  Although this bike is great at burning up interstate miles, the most I've ridden it in one day was 450 miles in 2007 when my buddy still owned it.  I got it from him in 2015 and the most I've ridden it in one day since then has been about 300 with breaks in between.

  10. Docc,

So based on the "Breakdown by Model Year" I think I have the long tank, long frame '03 Lemans.  It has the black face gauges, internal pump, exh cross over pipe, no pad on the tank, satin black non wrinkle, non peeling paint eng/trans/diff.
