  1. Nope, not me. Still got mine here, friend not picked it up. Started it today. he best take it away soon or its getting a spring shakedown ride.
  2. Just for a point of reference, sold the V11 to a friend for 4k US. Likely I will be maintaining and riding it occasionally, so best of all worlds. Anyone got any good recommendations for wrench in Connecticut that is good with the electrickery? It,s all up and running well at the moment, but seeing as he is paying and I am coordinating for him, would be nice to get some education down the line.
  3. Just down the road from me, in fact was in New Milford yesterday. Hmmm. just agreed to sell mine to a mate too. Hmmmm.
  4. Thanks Bill, but if I still have it in May I'll probably be keeping it. Get to be a citizen then, traffic infractions may not seem so important. Certainly won't be getting ridden in this . Hows the weather in Florida ?
  5. Took a small crescent out of each of mine with a Stanley knife til tank fitted snugly.
  6. No Docc, not at all. One of the nicest bikes I have ever owned, and thats a few. 3 issues tho. Every now and then, a bike comes along that tempts me to ride repatedly beyond my capabilities, and this is one. Also am something of a luddite, and electrickery scares me. lastly, I have a natural talent for patination, and it will look like a 200k wreck within a few thousand miles. Always open to education and personal development, but ability to do either seems to be reducing by the year. Only advertised here tho, and haven't decided what its worth
  7. on a roll now, so for 80 cx and anyone else, go to the file with pics on it, go to view, click on content. click on relevant pic, right click on it to bring up menu, click on edit, which takes me automatically on to paint click on resize, click on pixels, and redo the 2640 or whatever to 500,then save. Hmm. If I hang around here much longer I will be building helicopters out of the scrap pile. Speedo reading actually about 60 miles low, cos it magically stopped working just as I blew past unmarked state trooper doing 90 so extra miles was slow ride home the back way.
  8. Shiny one would be fine too but it wouldn't stay that way long. wow thats twice in a row now, but with different methods . If I can do it again tomorrow 80 cx , I will pass on my magic secrets. Think go to view on pic file, then go to display and do content instead of icons, then right click, click on edit, and hey presto it says resize. Then you do that and it disappears off into the ether, and you spend ten minutes finding where its gone.
  9. Aha edumacashun. Head hurts now, will try and get some better pics tomorrow and see if I can do it again

  11. Jeez, if I could do that, I would compress the bloody pics and post em on here. Can't work out how to do it.
  12. Can't post, says too large to download. can email some if you call and leave message. text no good, as its a landline.
  13. 2000 V11 Sport for sale. Silver. Runs good, just under 5k miles. Not concours but not far off, very stock. New odyssey, omrons and fuel pump. Would consider scruffy carburetted Tonti +cash p/x. Bill of sale only, no titles in Ct for vehicles over 20 years old. Tim 860-482-9215
  14. My old boss would call that bronze welding, brazing being the sucking of bronze into the joint by capillary action, with old fashioned lugged joints. Either way, thats a damn nice piece of work right there. Thoroughly enjoyed that Phil. Gonna have to try and up my game a touch.
  15. Ok, here might be a good post to add this. Been playing with a 2000 v11 sport runs nicely, less than 5k on it. considering selling it, not because I don't like it, its gorgeous bike, but because I have difficulty controlling my right wrist on it for some reason and have just had my second finger wagging from a very nice state cop who could well have cuffed me and towed the bike. Not quite as concours as Brians bike but damned nice. Whats it worth ? Still sorting occasional gremlins, speedo packed up about 60 miles ago, and the old neutral light/sidestand chestnut seems to be occurring occasionly. ( Sometimes need to flick sidestand a couple of times, sometimes need to snick in and out of second and rock the bike to get power. Never failed yet but....... Its going to get locked away for the winter, but contemplating. Have enough trouble staying legal on the 1100 Cali.
  16. Hi Fred, just been playing with my V11 sport, had been asleep for longer. Initially ran on rh cylinder only. Left hand more clogged due to sidestand ? New fuel, pump , gas etc, and a healthy application of throttle over a few miles, and it cleared up and ran pretty well. I now have 500 miles on it, and am still getting a very intermittent misfire on the left, at lower revs, particularly when cold, which I suspect may be a partially blocked injector, stupid me, didn't change the fuel filter, so may be part of the issue. Also, not run injector cleaner, figured new nasty gas may be enough, and was worried about cleaner and plastic, but will follow advice above and try it . Also doesn't seem to want to tick over initially on start up now the weather has dropped a few degrees, where as it did fine two weeks ago. If this tweaks a link in anyones brain, please chime in. Also, will try to work on exact figures , but 140 miles yesterday from full to reserve coming on, which seems a little juicy to me.
  17. Tank on the 2000 I just picked up had been off the bike for several years. It had stretched by 1/4 of an inch. just trimmed a little of the rear of the rubber tank mounts pushed it forward a little. Jim at hamlin cycles recommended draining the tank totally dry over the winter and refilling with non-ethanol fuel, and said it would shrink back. Fits and works fine at the moment. Will see if there are any other issues that appear.
  18. New battery, new fuel pump, new relays, first ride, second ride, third ride. Funnily enough, relevant to posts above, took advice off here to buy omrons, and tried to start it with new fuel pump before I put them in. Could hear bosch relay clicking away, but pump not working put new ones in and all peachy. Took a while to clear injectors out, but a tank full of clean gas and some gentle throttle and it soon cleared up to steady tickover and smooth running thru the rev range, after about ten minutes all the stutters gone. Was going to put it away as paperwork etc, but it was such a nice night I had to take another spin to make sure clean fuel thru, then thought I should take it out again just to make sure. First impression, surprisingly flat at low revs, but stonking over 5k. Rolling chassis is gorgeous, quite shocked I am, at least the gear change is kind of notchy going into first to remind me what I am riding. Reckon the Cali is going to be getting jealous.
  19. Thanks Phil. Went with this one, arrived today. http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2491
  20. Thanks Doc,thinking that way too, but may go for the cheapest option first to keep as a spare for other things. That way I can have a play with bike this week, will see.Interestingly, the bike came with a PC545 of unknown age, the two previous owners had been having major issues with no power. Putting it on charge with a smart charger, the battery looked to work fine, but kept topping up. Left it on and it nearly exploded, blew up like a football. Battery guy tells me that that would indicate a bad cell, possibly from new. The bike, which had been a non runner for three years, started right up when hooked up the the larger Odyssey out of my Cali 1100. Again, interestingly enough, I bought the Cali from a friend who had spent 1500 bucks chasing an intermittent total loss of electrical power over two years, I replaced the (red dog? mad dog ?) battery with Odyssey pc925 and it hasn't missed a beat in 20k miles.
  21. Ok guys, battery quandary for the 2000 Sport. New bike , replacement fuel pump arriving today, and a US wide shortage of Odyssey batteries. One local supplier says he is getting some next week, so do I wait out the week/ten days to take new bike for a ride, or go for something cheaper ? The options are 15L batteries, one Powersonic, one Dekka, both AGM, both offering higher CCA than the PC545, both 1/16" wider, both way cheaper than the Oddyssey.
  22. Ok, 7 years on, link no longer active, anyone got any other sources ?
  23. Hi all, new bike arrived today, 2000 V11 Sport. Low miles, non running ( electrical) . Runs now no idea what the issue is, expect I will find out, but first issue to deal with is fuel evacuating itself THRU the left hand terminal at the front of the fuel pump. Anyone had this happen before? Any idea what caused it ?Will order a new one from MG Cycle in the next day or so, unless anyone has any better ( cheaper ) ideas ? First of many dumb questions until I can navigate round the site better, have a few Guzzi miles under my belt, but I thought my 94 Cali 1100 was modern. Hoooweee. Guess I need to sharpen up my electrickery.
