Thanks everybody!! Still working on the machine: experiencing “option overload” as too many chores, projects, and essential duties keep getting in the way. :)

Just wanted to say Thank You for this thread.
Changing my rear tire and I figured I’d lube the driveshaft and flush out the clutch line while I was at it. The clutch bleed nipple if freaking innaccesible— looks like removing the starter motor is the way to go.Anything else I should look at while the tire is off?
Thanks again.

So, I guess this fell through?
I need a cover for my starter, old one broke. Anyone know a good source for a replacement? Thanks. -

My favorite piece of bike gear by far, is my magnetic Givi tank bag, particularly because I'm old school and use hard copy maps, so I love a tank bag with a clear map pouch for a quick visual reference.
The V11 with it's plastic tank presents a challenge, I do have an OEM MG strap on tank bag, that was designed for/ & included in the deal for my Griso. (I've never used it)
Has anyone experience in using the MG Griso strap on tank bag, and adapting it onto the V11s? Yea or Nay?
I'll probably just try it sometime, but I'm afraid of damaging the delicate paint/decals on the plastic V11 tank.
If there's any feedback out there, I'd love to hear it BEFORE I do damage, lol.

I have the factory strap on tank bag for my V11. I put some black electrical tape under the straps to keep them from abrading the tank. Works OK.
Thanks everyone for the feedback on the tank bags. I appreciate it.

The owner just sent me a text. He will let me have the ruins for $1500; I politely declined.
Since the bike is parked in front of his house, I am going to monitor how long it takes before he manages to find someone to purchase it.
Unlike others here, I like airheads. Easy to fix, reliable, good parts supply and, god help me, I like the looks of them.
I have no illusions- they handle terribly and do attract the human equivalent of undescended testicles.
And those humans do tend to overvalue the bikes when they are in a shit state. $1500 is too much.

After the short frame bikes they got fat, porky, and ponderous. Real men with big balls ride the "short frame". Old codgers tend to go for the fat lardy long frame version.

Sold the Jackal today to a very nice man from Baltimore.

Thanks for asking but the Eldo's not for sale at the moment.
Sooner or later I'll get tired of looking at the Eldo and either complete it or sell it. But not yet.

In Indiana, easy. It's an endorsement "M" to the drivers license. Once you get the M, you keep it.
I moved from Pennsylvania to Indiana. PA used the M endorsement to indicate a need for corrective lenses. which I need. When I went to the DMV in Indiana to switch my Pa license over, the cute girl behind the counter looked at my license with the M endorsement and said, "Oh, you have a motorcycle endorsement?" I said yes.
Never took the test.

Sorry to hear that, Mikko. People have weird ideas as to worth sometimes.

Acerbis made the tanks. I don't expect Guzzi to be expert on plastics. The blame for this, if there is blame, rests on Acerbis and not on Guzzi, Ducati, MZ, Aprilia, etc
I wonder if it's helpful to run a ratchet strap circumferentially. around my tank when it's stored empty in my attic to help the shinkage?
-
Sorry can't hear anything over the road noise. Did you find the MZ?
-
Thanks Footgoose. I have the problem with the resin tank on my MZ. Draining it and leaving it empty in the garage over the winter did not help. I'm glad that the Guzzi tank "shrunk' back for you. I'll probably take it off right before it goes on the stand for the winter and put the tank in the attic to dry and shrink.
Kane: pretty standard stuff for these plastic tanks of a certain age. Some of the MZ guys report paint cracking but there are no reports of the actual tank cracking as far as I know. I just don't bolt the MZ tank down anymore.

I would like to take the tank off of my 2000 V11 Sport to tidy some things up and replace the plug wires but I'm wary of tank expansion and not being able to get the tank back on properly. How many folks have had problems with tank expansion and how bad was the expansion/distortion?
TIA John

Aye, that's the man his own self. I'll let him know that he's missed.

I've sent this to our man Dave in Belfast but I doubt he'll take this bait. Man seems to be quite fond of his 1200.
