  1. I'll be bringing my steady date over in August to see the IOM GP. It'll be our first time there. We're really looking forward to seeing some of those three legged cats.
  2. Thanks Paul, really appreciate the information. I hadn't found these lights in my wanderings.
  3. Paul, can you tell me the manufacturer of that rear light, or how I can get my hands on one? That's what I've been looking for! Thanks for the info and links on the headlight, I don't think that scooter model comes to the US.
  4. Do you have any information on the supplier(s) of the lights?
  5. My steady date and I are planning to go to the Manx GP in late August this year. Would any of you with knowlege of the place care to make suggestions about where to stay, watch the races, have a pint? We've never been before so anything will be appreciated.
  6. I don't really want to reveal any indiscretions I may, or may not, have commited to get this done. The plate belongs to this bike, and it's titled with the original engine and frame numbers. There are a couple of loopholes in the DMV regs. Just to be safe, I'm on my best behavior when riding it on the street.
  7. OK, finally got around to getting some pictures up here. Piaa driving lights and dinky winkers Lots brighter in use than they look here My idea was to keep this simple, easy to remove, and make no permanent mods to the bike. The tail lights operate as brake and turnsignals also. These are KuryAkyn lights with their run/brake/turn controler. I can also connect a center light for just tail/brake, but haven't really found anything appropriate yet. People I've ridden with tell me that the rear lights are very visible. The head lights are real bright blue at night, they put out more light than a traditional headlight but, being driving lights, are very directional. After removing the bodywork, I can have the lights and plate bracket off the bike in about 15 minutes for track days. Another 10 minutes to take the main light wiring harness off and you would never know it was there. The driving lights probably restrict some airflow through the oil cooler, but you have to ride pretty hard to keep the oil temp up, so no problem on the street. Wiring is totaly isolated from the rest of the electrical system. At low engine speeds the alternator won't keep up, so I leave the headlights off if the bike has to run below about 3000 rpms for very long. At normal speeds charging is not a problem. I'll probably play around with this setup as improvements occur to me, a center light for the rear, and maybe revise the wiring to use just one driving light for 'low beam', but not much otherwise, I think.
  8. Seen many years ago on a loggers pickup in Oregon, "I hope all you environmentalist bastards freeze to death in the dark". Parked in front of a cafe that advertised "Spotted owl burgers"
  9. There's not very much room under there when the forks are fully compressed. It would also be in the way of the intake air duct. Not that big of a deal maybe, but still no clearance.
  10. That's a pic of the MGS-01 street version that was never produced. The proposed engine spec was about the same as the Griso and Breva 1100. That headlight is unobtanium and would require the oil cooler to be relocated, too. I managed to tuck a pair of Pia driving lights in there. They are unobtrusive and really bright. I don't have pics on this laptop that I'm travelling with this week. I'll post a couple over the weekend.
  11. Yep, it's registered and plated. I'll collect some pics and post them here when I get a chance. It's a simple setup but was accepted by the DMV and the California Highway Patrol.
  12. My VIN ends with 0051, so it would appear that there are that many anyway. Jim, if you're interested in the light installation I did, let me know. I can send pics and component info.
  13. I'd be up for a spin around Laguna Seca. Sears point or Thunderhill too. Probably have a little trouble making it to Willow springs. Need a little advance notice of dates and so forth. It'd be nice not being the only Guzzi rider on the track.
