  2. Title says it all, I'm interested in a center stand that will fit my bike. Not sure about any cross compatibility between bikes but if the price is right I might take a risk. Let me know what you have and what you'd like for it. Cheers!
  3. Permanent fitted center stand.
  4. Nothing much to it really, was in a round about (likely going a little too fast/low for my well being) when a car on the inside of me veered and cut me off. I low sided and slid till I hit the curb launching the bike and myself on to a grassy hill. It hurt and awful lot but the bike sustained more damage than myself. Handle bars were tweaked pretty good and the exhaust hanger broke when the can was bent till it faced forward. I tore the ligaments between several ribs and got some pretty good rode rash but didn't break anything.
  5. Hi all, A while back I was in a bit of a low side and as a result my kick stand was thoroughly tweaked. I've been getting by alright but have always wanted to clean up the lines a bit with a center stand. I can't really justify $200+ for a new one but if a cheaper used came along I would probably jump on it. My question is, are the center stands from other makes/models that have been adapted to a 2000 v11 sport? Thanks, Kyle
  6. I'm going to look into having the original cable either copied or repaired, I don't like the idea of modifying my throttle housing with the possibility of messing it up. Thanks for the input all.
  7. Their website was updated after a few emails were exchanged with their customer services. It wasn't a goof I don't think... just not sure what to do. I can't seem to find the older cable anywhere. http://www.mgcycle.com/product_info.php?products_id=45&osCsid=904f80aaa3f1f6e2be0bd7a9a2da5e87
  8. Hi all, I've got a 2000 V11 Sport on which the throttle cable has started to fray near the throttle bodies. As a precaution I ordered a replacement from mgcycle.com. The part number I ordered was 01117530 however the part I received was 01117590. Obviously this wasn't going to work. Upon inquiry I was told that this was the updated part for my bike and that I could either return it or force it in. I'm pretty sure there is enough material in the throttle to tap out a larger hole to screw in but my concern is that there is not nearly enough free cable extending beyond the sleeve. I just wonder if anyone has dealt with this and could chime in. I have done a good search of the site without any results. Cheers, ~Kyle

I ride my bike, and sometimes stop for pictures :)
  10. Thanks, that's about what I imagined there being in there. Maybe I should stop jumping my bike so much.... NAH! oh well. I'll try to figure out how to get that piece out tmrw, but I've been wanting to do something more dramatic with the exhaust for quite some time now. I really like what those motobox chaps have done with the undertail on the daytona, I'll crunch some numbers and see what I can do along those lines. I sure hope no one minds me posting this pic.
  11. I wonder if anyone might have found the cause of this. I noticed in my 01 v11 sport that there is definitely something loose within my crossover. Whatever it is, its not coming out easily so I don't suspect it went in easily. Whats actually in there that could have broken loose? I've been meaning to upgrade my exhaust system anyways, maybe this is a sign. BTW, I love this forum. I don't post much at all but I always seem to be lurking, and recently diagnosed a bad RPM sensor from information I found here. Thanks Everyone!
  12. Yeah, I had a feeling I ought to get on it pretty quick, I'm gonna try to get it over to MGC later this week and ride it as little as possible in the meantime. Thanks, I'll post again if this is the source of my woes.
  13. I've got a 2001 Moto Guzzi V11 Sport. The love of my life. So for the last 3 or 4 weeks my bike seems to be running hotter than usual, and has gotten to the point recently that it will backfire a lot and die at idle. I don't know if these are related but I think so. About 3 months ago I ran the bike from Austen, TX to Irvine, CA about 1400 miles... I think without a hitch. But after I attempted the changing of my own oils it stated going downhill. I've heard a good deal of speculation from some friends but will most likely take it into the pros at MGC in a couple weeks anyways for a good once over but in the meantime I'm interested in what anyone has to say. So far it has been suggested that it may have been from all the riding in the rain I did this winter (I'm no fair weather rider) and I'm currently running the pod-filters. I was also told that I need my valves adjusted ... or maybe timing. I am a noob so any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks, ~Kyle
  14. Thanks for all the helpful advice. I've decided to proceed with black anodizing the aluminum sheath from the exhaust cans while abstaining from the valve covers for the very clear reasons discussed. When they are returned to me I will be glad to post some pictures for anyone interested. At this point I may be stretching for possibilities, but since this topic seems to have the attention of some very knowledgeable persons I would like to inquire about plating, in particular copper plating. I've done some very rudimentary google/wiki researching and have some idea as to the process involved however I'm having trouble finding info about some of the specifics. It seems that any metal that can conduct a current can be plated and as a result there is an increase in the thickness of the material. What I'm most concerned about however is the temperature and whether there is any precedence of this process being used under similar conditions. I've seem Triumph valve covers with what appears to be copper plating but I haven't had the opportunity to ask if it was the real deal or some sort of powdercoating sham. I plan to call around to some local places in the next day or two but I thought I would throw the idea out to you guys since you've already helped me out so much already. Thanks again, ~Kyle
  15. Here's the low down, I've got an opportunity to get some parts black anodized and I have a few in mind but I'm not entirely sure they are all possible. (by the way, my bike is an 01 V11 Sport) I'd love to do something with my head covers, I've searched the forum and there were several topics describing powder coating which from what I understand can be done with any material. Black anodizing, however, is specific to aluminum I believe so I guess my question is whether the head covers are pure aluminum or something mixed or if anyone has done this before and can comment on the results. I know they are coated with that greyish paint which I will need to strip off (I suppose I would use a sand blaster) before the process can be done but I don't want to proceed if it won't work. My second idea involved the exhaust cans which from what I can recall have an aluminum sheath that covers the actual can. Same thing, I wonder if anyone has had any experience with this. I was told by the contractor that the process takes place at 72 degrees so there should be no risk of warping and that the finish shouldn't dull in any way due to the heat. I realize there are benefits to the powder coating and that it is tried and true, however, free is free and I'm interested in the result. Thanks for any help!
