  1. Wow; I guess I better go out and polish mine again!

    E3 plugs

That's funny; the only running problem I've ever had with my other bike ('05 Hayabusa) was when I ran Denso plugs. After a couple thousand miles I began experiencing misfires at low throttle settings with the bike jerking along when riding at slow speeds through town. Switched to NGKs and didn't have another issue for the life of the plugs. Will never use Densos again!

    FUUUKC! SCHYTE!

I agree with CharlieB; call your company and let them work with the other driver's company. I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago ( guy drove into and knocked over my Hayabusa at night in a motel parking lot). In my case the driver would not admit guilt even though there were several witnesses. My insurer (GEICO) went to work directly with his carrier and I got full coverage for all the damage from them. Took a few weeks but I was just an informed bystander through the process. I feel your pain; nothing worse than your baby damaged. Just make sure you have a complete and thorough estimate done and you should come out alright money wise. Lee
  4. tmcafe, I took mine apart and greased everything a while back and mine also has about a 1/4" of shiny shaft showing. Was like that before I disassembled it also. Not to worry.
  5. With several reported spring failures on '04 machines that have the proper boss size it sounds like it might be wise to at least have one on hand. Does anyone know of a current source for an upgraded spring if I decide to do a preventitive replacement? Thanks.
  6. Eureka! Thanks for the reference Gary; that finally did the trick. Using a propane torch I was able to put enough of a bend in the pipe to slip it over the zirc. Didn't have a flex tube so ended up coupling two rigid tubes together to give me some room to get the gun positioned at the right angle. Thanks again to all of you for your suggestions. Lee
  7. Thanks for the quick replys guys. To answer your question SH, the bike has about 7K miles on it and has been ridden mostly in dry conditions. I don't believe the problem ins crud blockage as I get the same result when injecting grease into the zirc on the rear part of the shaft connected to the bevel box which should pose no resistence to the flow of grease when disconnected from the front part of the shaft. Indeed, I can replace the needle with a normal grease gun fitting and freely inject grease into the open area where the forward splines normally fit when the shaft is together.
  8. Hi All, Have read all the threads dealing with this lubricating this joint but so far have been thwarted with a workable solution. I have the back wheel off and the bevel box removed so the shaft is accessible. Have tried a swivel tip extension even ground down and still can't get it over the zirc. Just tried an injector needle; got it into the zirc but the grease just squirts back out the zirc when I squeeze the handle rather than entering the joint. What am I doing wrong here? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  9. I'd suggest you give Greg a call at MI in Seattle. I bought my Cafe Sport from them this past summer and they have a nice set of aftermarket cylinder guards that I got at time of sale. About $55 as I recall. Their number is 800-949-6686.
  10. Thanks for the heads-up John. I checked mine yesterday and sure enough, the wire was clamped hard between the frame and fender. The wire had been crimped so hard it left a sharp impression in the insulation but had not yet severed it. I moved it to one side and slipped a small tielock around it to prevent the wire from migrating back if it was so inclined.
  11. Thanks for your thoughts guys. I think I'll probably go with widening the lift point on one side so as not to change the the basic cofiguration of the stand. Good suggestion about padding the contact point - Ive already put a scratch on one porkchop trying to use the stand as it is.
  12. Hi All, I'm a relatively new Guzzi owner having bought an '04 Cafe Sport in late June from Moto International. I'm really enjoying the bike and have already gotten my hands dirty replacing a couple parts under warranty (speedo cable, cracked headlight) in addition to a valve adjustment and TB sync. After a longish wait ( shop stands are scarce as hen's teeth these days) I received my unit today from MG Supply only to find that the stand is seemingly about 1/2" too wide to fit the lower nuts on the porkchops. Placing it properly on one side results in the it the opposite side resting on the very edge of the other nut. My question is; are these stand made in a jig? The folks at MG have offered to send me a replacement ( probably after another wait) but I'm assuming this would probably be for nought. Has anyone else experienced this problem? The only thing I can think of is to have an additional piece of steel welded to one side to increase the lifting surface on that side. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
