  1. Anyone used the motogadget? Any other, more correct, fixes than epoxy/JBWeld? I can't do that. Far too AR for that, I'm afraid, and I'm (still) considering a Guzzi in need of odo replacement. No means of fabricating one like slug's done. If I take the Guzzi to FBF, what would they do - anyone know? I'll call them shortly. The price doesn't kill me, though I wonder how well it fits? How right it would look to have that sans eagle on a Lemans? For the price, it needs to be perfect mostly in fit and function, but also in finish.
  2. I edited the unecessary comments in my prior post. I agree negative comments can be inflammatory, though it may be useful to potential customers to have an alternate viewpoint... as it is with the bikes we're all concerned with, glowing reports sidestepping any flaws can get the unwary into unwanted trouble. All that said, I WOULD buy a bike from Speed's without hesitation. I got a good deal and fair treatment during the purchase of my last bike. And the Great Googley does return a shop in Beltsville, though I know nothing of them, and they seem to have no web-based presence: Precision Cycle Works‎, 11323 Old Baltimore Pike, Beltsville, MD‎ - (301) 937-5783‎
  3. I feel a bit badly about my comments regarding a particular shop, especially because I genuinely like the owner, and the new(ish) manager seems OK, though not badly enough to lose sleep. Is there a shop in Beltsville, Maryland that works on Guzzis? I'll be embarrassed if so - I work in Beltsville! Are you referring to Heyser in Laurel, maybe? I didn't think they did Italian machines. Next nearest place is Battley's in Gaithersburg, who were Phenomenal (!) with my Ducati. I didn't think to ask them about Guzzis.
  4. Guzzimoto - is that Europa Meccanica? I saw your other thread about finding another dealer because of the poor service at the local shop. I have a feeling we have experience at the same "local" shop. I also appreciate the tip - Europa is a little closer than FBF (not much - I live on the Shore) and having that service option makes potential Guzzi ownership a little more comfortable.
  5. The dealer is asking $9500 firm. There's no way I can justify that - it's this simple: if I buy a used bike, I better be able to sell the same bike with the same condition and miles within a reasonable timeframe after I've bought it for the same price. I don't see anyone willing to drop $9.5k on a Lemans regardless of the model variant. If it was NOS at a GOOD dealer who could work through small known issues pre-purchase I would... but not for a 7 year old bike with 4-5k miles and peely paint. To be fair, No. 137 is listed right now for $9300 IIRC on Craigslist. I'll do some searching and see what it looks like... but it's moot unless the Tenni deal sweetens. The other Guzzi I'm interested in seems to have a more reasonable owner/seller. Thanks again!
  6. The dealer tells me it's a $2700 exhaust - titanium, includes MG computer/chip/whatever it is. I like the exhaust - it's an additional draw to a Tenni. The engine peeling bugs me. My Ducati's engine paint peeled and it was just a blemish; it could be a long term problem, but mostly it's just an aesthetic issue... but it bugged me, rational or not. I've always thought on the resale market any used farkle/goodie/extra is valued around 1/2 original value. Even if the exhaust is $2700 new I'd guess it's valued around $1300-1400 now. Anyone know what the paint peeling fix costs? I got an estimate for the Duc at "$1500 minimum". Thanks again. Maybe I need to pass. I can't justify more than $8k considering the paint, and I would need to buy cases anyway, the location (well... it'd be fun to fly-n-ride but...), and there's a Nero on my short list, as well. The dealer's much higher than $8k and "firm."
  7. There's a Tenni for sale. At a dealer. Bike has a very nice MG Ti exhaust. It also has engine peeling. No other extras, and around 4-5k miles. Seems to me the uncorrected engine peeling and lack of extras cancels the value of the (used) exhaust system... Making it closer to book value. I'm aware the engine paint isn't a mechanical issue and is only a longevity issue; however, it's a permanant/expensive blemish on a bike which, to me, is interesting in part for its aesthetic value. Thoughts, suggestions? yes, I'm looking at a couple of different LeMans... they all have issues - either bad odometers, peeling, etc... The odometer seems like a "simple" part-swap and the bikes do come with new replacements... but if it were that easy, why not repaired yet.
  8. Sorry for the spelling... coffee + laptops = malfunctioning keyboards...
  9. Thanks for the input. I found the V11 good years ago; I tested a Norge last year / late 2007 and was comfortable except the footpeg was really cramped. I couldn't fit my boot in there to shift w/o doing the contortionist thing. I had a Multistrada for 4 years. Loved it. Always wanted 2 things: a LITTLE more wind protection, and a seat that wasn't a weapon of ass destruction. I sold it for a few reasons - including a desire to try another motorcycle. Just something different. I know they're different... that's the point. Joe seems like a genuinely nice guy; though, to be honest, [i miss Speed being directly involved. I have found Battley Cycles up in Gaithersburg to be simply phenomenal for service for Ducati's. I'm unaware of any other "local" shops for Guzzis.] I understand entirely abot no ride, but I may ask for a chance to just try ot the ergos to see if it's what I remember. [edited to remove unecessarily subjective opinions and such... ]
  10. No one knows me here; I'm aware of that, so this is a long shot request. I'm looking for "the next bike." What a wonderful decision to have to make: it's down to a LeMans or another Multistrada. The LeMans I'm most keen on is 2000 miles away. It's been 4+ years since I test rode a V11. Loved it then, but I was inexperienced, and we all age (my aging included minor/major injuries to back, neck, 1 ankle, both knees... ). I'm ready to pull the trigger, and while I've thought of the V11 since late 2004, I'm hesitating to buy a bike I haven't been on in years. There's an absolutely gorgeous Multistrada that even includes every single farkle I'd want, and even some I'd sell off, within an hour of home... for a very fair price. Anyone in this area (let's just call it Maryland/Delaware/Nova) who might be crazy enough to let a stranger ride (even just a sit-on would be helpful) their V11? Possibly? In the name of Guzzisti propagation?
  11. Then I effing hate you.... LOL / just kidding, That said... they told me it "just sold" back in December when I inquired... oh well. I see a couple Tenni units for sale, but the Nero Corsa is my first choice. Anyone (savagehenry?) interested in selling? Styling aside, and I know abuot the Ohlin suspension, what (any) other differences are there mechanically? I've seen Tenni models can have engine case paint peeling, any other known issues with either Corsa or Tenni models?
  12. Any Nero Corsa owners in the mid-atlantic (or further afield for the right bike/ price) interested in selling their beloved? Someone bought the NOS Nero Corsa from FBF right before I got things lined up... Anyone? Interested buyer for the right bike.
  13. Anyone have a 2004-2005 Nero Corsa in good-excellent condition interested in selling? If so, I may be interested.
