  1. ...now that's thinking outside the envelope Capt'n!
  2. Baldini You know I'm keeping an eye on, er, Captain Nemo's donkey dong, but just because it can be done - does'nt mean it should! Getting back to this former mod though, I'm accepting Moto Guzzi designed the airbox as is with forward facing intakes for a reason - so why should'nt scooping more (cool) air into their airbox not work? I accept true 'ram-air' effect may not be acheived under 100mph or so, but surely, bigger scoops, scooping more air into the box does makes sense now! Why has'nt this pvc mod, or as suggested radiator hose alternative, simply not been adopted or at least tried by more riders? Drilling 3 holes in the lid, or taking off altogether, may be less fiddly option to creating gains - but is it REALLY the BEST, or just acceptd as such?
  3. Reactivating old post - but does anyone know if cooler air funnelled thru extended, coned-shaped intakes actually had an effect? Is Tracy around to comment? Improving on this particular mod is what I'm trying to get more info on. Anyone given it a shot & have any seat-of-yer-pants results to report? Why would the (seemingly more usual) bell-mouthing of the stock intakes work, when combined with drilling holes in lid? Seems counter-intuitive...
  4. Bloody hell! Genuinely shocking - the audacity! Still, I just can't look away!
  5. I like him! But, I must confess, I like that Ratchethack bloke too - before my time, I know he's gone but I find all the old posts great fun reading! He'd have my vote to welcome back. Then again, my 'ol Ma admonished to alway's say to nasty kids, "Sticks & stones may break my bones - but names will never hurt me!" And seeing this is a bloody free-speech forum, just how violent can it get? F@ck it! I thought guzzi blokes had pride in being are bit odd, rude, cantankerous etc! But thin-skinned as well? Better hope Baldrick never turns up here!!! So here's to all the mad, bad guzzi nutters riding, pontificating & annoying the hell outta each other!
  6. He is special isn't he. I remember a few yrs ago I spotted him [or should I say I spotted his bike, perfect for those color blind] at the Vashon TT, resplendently parked at a corner so everyone could see him. He was sitting there revving his bike up, without his helmet on, just revving it up and looking at everyone, a real attention whore we all thought. Didn't know he would be stupid enough to steal from the only Guzzi shop worth visiting in the PNW. That's ok, my opinion of him can't get any lower. Steve Been scooting around reading up all I can on Mike Rich piston swaps when I stumbled over these comments... Just wanna clarify, is this Enzo the same bloke aka. Captain Nemo?
  7. Hey enzo here you go - sans donkey kong...
  8. You know what Mike? If it is as you say that on the basis they are truly plug & play, I'm gunna help get the ball rolling & put my hand up for a set. Seems these items may prove to be a bit of a rare opportunity insomuch as not being available too often - not to mention price rises! One last question with this particular P&P - sure no fuelling or balance issues are incurred? Higher compression AND with less ping? Sounds like a great little win-win p&p pep-up in that case... Cheers!
  9. Went hunting & found this from 2004, but would'nt mind more comprehensive info on full range of benefits.
  10. Say Mike... so for cost of $495.00 just what is the sum total benefit that is gained? Are there other changes necessary to be done to fully exploit this swap? What limitations do the stock pistons give as compared to the MR's? Is one to assume from Rich's reluctance to have 12 sets sitting on shelf that these pistons give small gains? I mean, if they're so good why don't V11 owners clamber all over each other to get ahold of 'em? Or, is it, like me, a lack of full understanding of the merits? If I knew exactly what to expect I'd be able to weigh up the pros & cons of your request to add to the list! Care to enlighten? Thanks, ScuRoo
  11. Well, I gave it a bit of contemplation... & then decided a couple of kermit-eyes should'nt nobble a worthy shot at the guzzi cool title! Pity those velocity tubes are'nt on with it running! Enjoy!
  12. Hey Naveyblue Let you know asap. Can't confirm definitely yet, but I can advise 'maybe' - depends if all the ducks line up...! Er, or should that be geese! Umm, goose?
  13. Those old Ambo's do look good too don't they... Question is, could I sneak another in?
  14. Following winter there's always the summer ride...!
  15. Life is'nt an ad, I know - but does it get any cooler than this?
  16. The power delivery is different than I've ever felt on this bike. It starts out tame, but builds real power exponentially with RPMs. I mean, it feels just like the RC51 which is a bike that you need diapers to operate correctly. The Honda did this too, Exponential Acceleration©. So the bike is truly complete. Buttery drive. Not loud. Great power. Great handling. And, it looks really cafe racer style sort of chopped up and personalized. Dave Richardson remarked that it looks so hotrod. I think it looks really American that way. As American as Sesame Street & Grease! http://youtu.be/rj23faSZ64U I reckon! O'kay enzo, keep the Kermit's http://jaipatoukompri.free.fr/kermit.gif but, please, just add a little lippy as the final touch! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_BP3zPc6jPlk/SngKdcgCDNI/AAAAAAAAAy8/N5bvr9F6UlM/s1600-h/kermit_1.jpg
  17. Guzzi muse! Look forward to your report! Bung a couple of these on first - My link - sticking out the sides before you make up your mind to add a couple of ram-air scoops in place of those damn frogeyes. A arse-end ram-air goose - now who'da thought... Give this duck a run for his money! My link If it works well - it sure would look well insane! Cheers!
  18. Looked into that Pete, ala: My link
  19. Ah ha ha ha ha haaaaa! The 'force' of the Guzzi muse is certainaly with you - love it! However, maybe the faster you go you'll be creating more demand in getting that fast moving air to do a 180 degree turn to travel 24 inches back to the cylinder. Might get a bit lean at speed? Kill two birds with one stone, just bore LARGER holes where the green stickers were & mount a couple of forward facing ram-air scoops whilst gaining even longer runners to smooth & shoot the airflow into Raptor's lungs!!! My link See, even more performance - & gets the frogeyes dumped!
  20. Have those Ohlin's dialled in perfectly on your V11 & she'll reward you with a mingin' ride Mjingen! Cheers!
  21. Fu-uck man! Whaddya doing? Quickly, DUMP those Kermit frog eyes! You have just diverted any focus away from that muffler - they truly suck mate! Every Artiste needs to resist the temptation of just one more brushstroke. Quit while you're ahead before it turns into an abomination! Hurry, there's still time...
  22. No broken bones, relaxed & happy with great mates as company, heading back to our non-basic European lives once more. Phew, & to think this was just the shortened version - 'Au revoir Maroc'!
  23. Long day's in the saddle up until midnight for last 3 day's & just had to have some of Morocco's best food just one more time, so we pulled into where we had lunch before by Volubilius & they received us with another cracking meal at midnight, shower, bed & with brekky in morning before strapping bloody panniers down again for the race to the ferry.
  24. So we turned round & headed for Marrakesh where we stayed overnight & next day had a well deserved Hamman 'man-love' body scrub, got a few henna scorpions of an old Berber lady, walked past the restaurant that got bombed later & headed as the crow fly's North.
  25. She was Spanish, would'nt wanna mess with her - I'd rather have the nubian desert princess. But then again, any women looks good when you've been out in the desert...
