  2. This is a limited edition motorcycle, there were exactly 40 made during 2004, with 32 allocated for the US. I am the third owner, the first was a lady who did 32 miles on it, the second owner ran up approx 4,300 miles and myself. The total current mileage is approx 7,200. The Italia comes with complete Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, the carbon fiber front fender and starter cover, 2 brand new tires and 2012 Texas DMT test sticker. The previous owner put on it aftermarket items such as a Roper windage tray, Hyperpro adjustable steering dampener, CRG bar end mirrors, K&N air filter, , NGK Iridium plugs, a billet brake pedal, CRG levers, Heavy bar end weights, Rossopuro front brake fluid cap, Stucchi crossover, a very cool oil pressure gauge, and an equally cool dipstick oil temperature gauge and a Rossopuro billet plate for the indicator lights. He also modified the airbox for better breathing removing the charcoal vent canister with its spaghetti vacuum hose arrangement that is prone to leak, and re-routed the tip over valve to be straight up and down. This machine also has from the factory the $2,000 dollar option of the titanium mufflers and the factory racing ECU. Last year I had a Power Commander put on it and dyno tuned. I can supply a .PDF of the chart if you wish. The only minor cosmetic damage are a couple of tiny scrapes and nicks, one about 2" in diamaeter on the RHS exhaust pipe (not muffler) which the previous owner claimed to have happened when off loading it from a trailer, and the other a minor scrape he also did on the headlamp fairing, but which has been touche din and is hardly noticable. I'm selling because the bike it doesn't agree with my riding style so I want to move on. Will send pics to oyur email on request as they are all too big to post here. Open to sensible offers over $6,500 Hope that helps and please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for looking Fraser Katy Texas 77450
  3. Fraser- I've got the same bike, with the same equipment (and a few other mods), but even when I had it set up identically to yours, it didn't exhibit the symptoms (lack of smoothness and popping) you describe. That said, I'll echo what everyone else has said here - these engines weren't made to lug at 2200-3200 RPM. They are happiest in the 3800-6000 range. I rarely ride mine at fewer revs than 3500. Well I took y'alls advice and on the way to work today kept the revs up by holding a low than normal gear when riding through the subdivision area and what a difference in my perception of how it drives, I'm back as an admirer, particularly when I unleash it on the freeway. So thanks one and all for putting me right with the Gods of MG. Fraser
  4. I also ride a 1000cc Kawasaki and can roll the throttle on in top gear from 2,000rpm without any "indifference", so I wanted an insight into the experiences of others to validate what I'd been told. Fraser
  5. Thanks for taking the time to explain your take on things, appreciate it. Fraser
  6. I wrote in last year asking if anyone had engine performance issues as I thought my engine ran rough between up to 3,000rpm. It has the factory race ECU, Titanium cans and the emission control sytem had been removed by the previous owner. Since then it's been into MPH in Houston twice to see if they could smooth her out, but with limited success, it's a Guzzi thing I'm told witht his model. Basically when progressing through the gears up to 3,000rpm it lacks smoothness, not at all happy, feels like it's missing or the fuelling isn't right and sometimes I get a "pop" from the exhausts. I've been told that I should keep it around 3,500-4,000rpm to prevent this while using in built up areas, although that would mean keeping it in the low gears, which just doesn't seem consistent for a bike designed to be a street bike, even with the fatory mods. I've owned many bikes and this is the first time I've come across this type of thing when the engine is warmed up, I'm told is adjusted correctly and has only covered 6,000 miles. Do any other owners have this same issue, is it normal that it dislikes low revs so much? Any insight greatly appreciated Thanks Fraser
  7. Thanks everyone For the technical responses and even the untamed wit, which was on the mark and pretty true. I will take it back to MPH who did the original tune up, as it would seem further fiddling is required, will advise IF they manage to fix it and what the fix(es) was/were. Meanwhile I'm off out for a blast on the Triumph, happy, safe riding. Fraser
  8. Hi everyone, just new to the Forum and Moto Guzzis. Been a biker all my life and have covered a couple of hundred thousand miles on two wheels, but had until recently only ridden Japanese hardware. Background Just become the proud owner of a 2004 Coppa Italia out of Florida, now with only 5,500 miles on the clock. Previously owned by another enthusiast, who removed the charcoal vent cannister, installed a K&N filter and re routed the tip over valve to be vertical (not yet checked to see if it's still vertical). Has the factory Racing ECU and Titanium mufflers fitted, nice!! It's just out of the local MG dealership where they set the tappets, corrected the fuel trim and set the ECU for the mufflers. Problem Which was present before the service and is still present is that the engine feels like it is running "slightly" roughly below 3,000rpm, I say slightly as I'm still not use to the V Twin feel, but between 2,500-3,000rpm the engine periodically misses a beat. That's to say I'm going along and I get a push back JUST LIKE it's just missed a complete firing cycle, although I'm inclined to believe it's fueling related, due to the overall rough feeling when running, as it's not misfiring. I've checked the Iridium plugs and they are clean and gapped correctly. So I'm left wondering if anyone has any ideas what may be going on? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
