  1. Hilarious... I'm safe from them for the moment as she's holidaying down at the coast with the mechanic.... But must remember to keep an eye out for these marauders seeking retribution for this slander when she returns!
  2. Ha ha Turtle head! Yeah, I thought it was quite an apt description too! Cheers
  3. G'day mate and welcome back. Ha ha Ratchet's been gone for some time! Cheers Guzzler Ps Yeah I don't like the later versions of the sport with the fairing out front either! Pps hear you about the sciatica too!
  4. Thanks mate. It's looking good this morning as was able to hobble round the supermarket with the wife! Most mobile I've been all week ! Cheers
  5. Mate This one FEELS like he's a hundred and one at the moment.....! Cheers Guzzler
  6. Ha ha Whist 30 + degrees doesn't faze Aussies much it knocks the tripe out of Kiwi's... especially those of us from the South! I remember when I first got here ( Winter ) and I had to sleep on top of the bed with no covers for many months and when being driven round in a car had to have the windows down much to everyone else's amusement! Ha ha I've been here near on 40 years and I still don't like the heat! I got used to it a little back then but as now older find I'm getting more intolerant of it again.... Oh well it's a reasonable 18 degrees outside so in a couple of hours I'll retreat to the balcony with a glass o vino and refine my grumpy ole git routine! The wine will be a better anesthetic then the weak as bats piss painkillers they gave me for my back.... Cheers
  7. Ha ha Would love to but I'm still waiting to get the bike back from her Rubber surgery.... ie replacement of Breather and Inlets etc... In the meantime, I've thrown my back out after chasing a water pipe leak in the roof space of the house.. Why the hell didn't I just turn the bloody water off and call a plumber in the first place.....Arghhhh. Yep, been to hospital poked prodded jabbed and dosed up... now just waiting for it to heal! So even if she was sitting in the carport there's not much I could do but hobble up there and look at her! Bugger # 3 or 4....actually I've lost bloody count now! Cheers Ps At least it's Friday and wine o clock in T minus 3 hours 15 minutes !
  8. Bloody hell, weather sounds serious! Don't worry about rushing to get them out as not urgent...wait till safe and convenient mate! Cheers
  9. I thought I heard something about Ducati Monsters using the same headlight some time ago..... Not 100% sure though. Maybe check that out? Cheers
  10. Mate Don't be embarrassed! You're doing us all a huge service and it's bloody appreciated... Cheers Guzzler
  11. Ha ha Cheers mate, yeah it does look better today! Even the weather... Not wrong about the roads round here eh!
  12. Bugger.... Knew I shouldn't have washed and polished the bike before Friday's ride! All was well come the appointed hour and we headed off through the twisties on the other side of the highway.Took a couple of corners to get into the groove but well into it. It was sunny and warm but bloody windy, although wasn't so bad as the road is quite sheltered here. Dave on the MV blasted off in front determined to test his new suspension settings and I stuck to my Brisk pace. This went well till we came off the Old Sale Road at Newborough and found ourselves on basically single track roads that goats would surely appreciate! This was definitely not V11 Sport territory! The roads were 30 -60 Kph and 1st and 2nd gears with the odd chance to get into 3rd, barely wide enough for 1 and a half cars, littered with crap from the recent wild weather and dodging Cockies ( Farmers ) and their tractors! I was very pleased to pop out onto the very good secondary road to Thorpdale and twist the throttle a bit! Stopping at Thorpdale, the Bakery was closed so no coffee and we notice that my bike is spewing oil onto the road and the top front of the motor is covered in it....WTF. Panic mode sets in about now and it's bloody hot in the gear. Dave volunteers to head back and get his van to put the bike in it and get her home but I realise what's happened. The last couple of times I've ridden her I had some odd streaks of oil on my pipes and thereabouts, cleaned it up and checked but could find no sign of any leaks. So I think that after the higher revs in low gear work the infamous rubber breather pipe has decided to finally let go! After much deliberation and checking the oil level ( fine ) I decided I'd ride her home but keep her under 4k. Luckily no oil on rear tyre. As there was no easy way back to the highway and plenty of twisty elevated road to get there, I didn't set any lean angle records!! But after a gentle run back home we had a better look at it and pretty sure my diagnosis is correct.Rob (mechanic) confirmed that he thinks so too when I called him and he even has the part in stock! So, instead of enjoying a counter attack ( Pub lunch ) at the beautiful Tarwin Lower Pub by the river I have a rather oily bike sitting in the car-port awaiting a trip in the van to Rob's next week, where these 23 year old rubber bits will be replaced! Ironically, I was going to have the inlet rubbers replaced next service as I've taped these up in the meantime so this has just fast tracked it I spose. Well after canned spaghetti on toast for a ( quite ) late lunch I retreat to the balcony with a glass of Shiraz and think about a dip in the pool to cool off... Bugger # 2.... after a warm to hot day the bloody (now cool) wind whips up and urinates on that idea! Time to give up and go inside and listen to some music... as have by now have given up on any further plans! Cheers Ps hope the second ride of the years a better one eh! Pps No photos were taken unfortunately folk's.
  13. Mate As crazy as the weather is down here in South West Gippsland at the moment it's outa control up North. Northern NSW and Qld are flooded and still the rain keeps coming...yep in Metres in parts! I just hope that when the flooding subsides and dries out we don't get FIRES... it was looking a bit ominous in that regard before the flooding began though so fingers crossed. Cheers
  14. I was in the same boat years ago when I was returning to the fold... Pretty sure I wanted a Guzzi but had the money to go with whatever I wanted (within reason), so in the end a couple of things influenced my decision. My wife decided she didn't want to ride pillion so that meant I can go with whatever...and I had every intention of test riding bikes that intrigued me. Ducati Monster Triumph Speed Triple etc. BUT before I could do so a certain Green V11 Sport popped up. Ha ha, a few mates had also told me to go with the heart when making the decision too. Well originally the colour of the V11 put me off (it wasn't mentioned in the ad and I can actually remember asking the shop on the phone about it...It's not that lurid Green one is it...) but as soon as I fired her up the heart was a goner and yep the salesman was right in that the colour grows on you! I love it and don't regret it for a second. Guzzi's are a long term commitment that get better and better the longer you own one.. So my advice is to... GO WITH YOUR HEART. Cheers
  15. Ha ha I'd better go and charge up the camera for Friday.... Cheers Ps weathers bloody nuts here at the moment...summer winter summer.....but so far Friday's lookin good!
  16. It is a nice looking home! No way in hell would I be venturing out on a bike in weather like that either! Jeez, what a difference in our weather I had my first dip in the pool for the year yesterday and a vino on the balcony... I'm hoping my first ride of the year will be Friday before heading back to work on Monday! Cheers Ps Interesting about the doors, never took any notice before but ours here in Oz also open inwards.
  17. Aha 5mm difference! Ha ha whichever way you go you'll end up with a better unit than the stock unit! I was going to go Wilbers back when I changed mine out but the supplier lost the ability to supply them at the last minute. So, we went with the Hyperpro which he could and as mentioned I'm happy with it. Cheers Ps I did hum and hah about whether to go Emulsion ( basic ) or the all singing all dancing version at the time but have no regrets.. The Emulsion 460 does the job well for me.
  18. G'day mate I have the Hyperpro 460 Emulsion shock on my 01 Sport and think it's same size as standard. I sometimes wish that I'd ordered it with the optional length adjustment ability to enable the rear to be raised by the 8mm of the Ohlins, but I'm pretty happy with how she handles as is with forks raised in triples by 8mm. .It's been a while since I did this so will leave it to wiser heads to prevail on that and fitment to your LeMans. Whichever way you go I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with the Hyperpro units... I know I am! Cheers
  19. My Dad's mate Lance used to have a big Chev Impala back when we were kids... This was quite something in 70's NZ I can tell you. Yeah, the boot (trunk to you guy's) was bloody huge! I remember throwing the racing go kart and everything needed to race all day in it and still there was heaps of room ! That and even just cruising around it'd chirp the tyres when the 3 speed auto changed gears.... Bloody impressive especially when you're more used to 52 Morrie Oxfords and 57 100E Prefects..... Ha ha the memories! I'm just about to call me ole mate in Perth for Xmas and as lifelong mates and gearheads will remind him of the ole days and Lance's Impala! His 57 100E is long gone and now has an XK8 Jag in the garage! Anyways folk's I'm gonna pour myself a glass o vino and have a laugh with me ole mate so to all of you in our wee V11 world...Merry Christmas and hope you all have a great festive season! Cheers Guzzler Ps I kinda think many of us here would be pretty good mates if we weren't spread round the globe eh. Still bloody good to know ya all in cyberland all the same!
