  2. I do not have the specs on this late model cam shaft, and I don't want to take my new toy apart and put a degree wheel on it and check cam timing yet. But closing up the lash does advance the cam timing by a small amount, depending on how steep the ramps are,it will also effect TDC overlap, and I don't know how sensitive these EFI computors are on these bike. This bike came with the accesory mufflers and a different ecu,I guess to recalibrate for the exhaust. If anyone on this forum has taken the time to check cam timing on a V11 Sport and would like to post it I would sure appreciate it. Steve
  3. I checked the lash on my Ballabio,it was a little too clattery, but running good.I got a factory owners manuel with my bike, and the specs were very tight .004 int. .006 ex. my other Guzzi's I always set at .008 and .010,I thought what the heck mabey in the last 30 years or so they've come up with a tight lash profile. So I set them to spec, the tappet noise was diminished considerably, but the engine was un happy,it killed the bottem end power, even droped the idle 100 rpm,so much for the tight lash theory.I set it to my old specs and the engine is happy again..008 and .010 still seem to be the numbers. 4. That looks like an oiling problem, loss of wedge, break down,or just inferior oil,are you going to have a look at your mains?
  5. Hello I came across this site after buying a nice V11 Sport. In the 70's I owned and raced Moto Guzzi's starting with a drum brake V7 Sport, and MK1 Lemans, both are long gone. When this V11 popped up locally I snapped it up and couldn't be happier, although I do like the feel of the Tonti framed bikes better.I am currently in the procces of gathering up the bits to relicate our 79 Ontar...

  6. We race a Sprint Car in a spec class that requites a flat tappet cam, after trying every different oil,and getting the same accelerated lobe and lifter wear,I started using GM EOS part #88862586 on top of Valvoline 20/50 Racing with great results. And from a cost stand point it was less than the trick racing synthetics. I used to race Moto Guzzi's a LONG time ago,and after 32 years since my last race/ride on a GUZZI (Ontario 6 hour 1979) I just bought a beautiful 04 V11 Sport with only 5000 mi on the clock, they've come along way since my original 72 V7 Sport. I am using this same lubrication in my GUZZI. You can consider all 4 of your lifters and cam wall art, they're done. Steve
