  2. Awesome advice!! Thanks everyone. I now have my weekend On-Line Shopping all planned out. Cheers! bandit
  3. Hi. I'm looking to get rid of the stock bitubo damper and replace it with an Ohlins. I searched low and high and can't find one for the 2001 V11 Sport. The Ohlins website doesn't even show any products for Moto Guzzi. Has anyone replaced their bitubo with an Ohlins on a similar bike? If so how do get the right adapter kit that fits the mounting points? Thanks
  4. So luckily I do have a PCIII (that was a nice surprise, the previous owner must've been obvious of it) and when connected to laptop the reading seems to align with the RPM gauge reading at idle and beyond. So while my gauge is showing 500 rpm with motor off, it is NOT "off" by 500 with the motor running.

  6. Thanks for the feedback. Good eye Kiwi Roy, it is an aftermarket one. Not sure which. I picked up the bike as is - I feel like Inspector Clouseau trying to untangle the history of the electrical system... UPDATE: Confirmed the battery is grounded as well as the Voltage Reg. I've also replaced the front signal bulbs with LED versions (now my entire brake/turn light system is LED). When I picked up the bike only the rear as LED and the front was original. Mixing LED and incandescent is problematic - likely from varied power draw but I'm not really an electrical expert. I've noticed something interesting about the turn signals and there may be a connection to my battery indicator. I got the following behaviour: - Motor Off, Power On: Turn signals flash and appropriate frequency - Motor Idle, Power On: Turn signal flash frequency seem slightly increased and pattern slightly erratic - 3000 RPM: Turn signal frequency is very high - they almost appear to be ON rather than flashing NOTE: The headlight stays perfectly lit during all this. Can anyone point me in the right direction in diagnosing this? Is this signs of a faulty voltage regulator? Could it be a relay or bad 12V resistor (there's one installed under the seat - I assume its for the rear LED lights)? -Max
  7. Update: I've added a ground wire from the voltage regulator to the engine block as shown in the picture. My addition is the brown wire - have I done this correctly? (note the wiring is temporary). I've also checked all fuses and cleaned connections as well as removed and re-inserted all relays. Unfortunately still no change in the voltage numbers from what I posted above and the battery indicator is still glowing until about 2500 rpm.
  8. Thanks will try that. Do you mean the green wire from the regulator? Or just ground the regulator itself?
  9. Update: With bike of the voltage across the two batter terminals is about 12.5 V @idle voltage is 12.9 V (dash warning light on) @3000rpm voltage is 13.4 V (dash warning light off)
  10. Hmmm. Interesting.... And your battery life is normal? Are you using a trickle charger? Well I've confirmed that my voltage regulator is fully grounded. Not really sure where to go from here. I suppose I'll continue diagnosing the electrical system based on the various posts here...
  11. Thanks for the info - I studied these diagrams and other posts... So I found the voltage regulator and according to my workshop manual there should be ground/earth wire connecting the voltage regulator to the battery (see attached pic). But, in real life, on my actual bike there is only a wire-harness plugged into the voltage reg with a bundle of wires. Is the green one running off the wire-harness plug the ground? Or should there be a separate wire somewhere else that should be grounding this thing?
  12. I know... I'm quickly learning to "let go".... I'm falling in love with my new V11 - quirks and all
  13. Thanks. I'll test with multi-meter and post back. By "earth connections" do you mean ground?
  14. My voltage light is on when the bike is idle and continues to stay on until the RPM reaches 2500 or so.... Anyone know where to begin diagnosing this?
  15. Hi All - just got my first ever Guzzi, it's a 2001 V11 Sport and I'm really enjoying learning about these bikes. I've noticed that my RPM gauge never shows ZERO (i.e. when the motor is off). It just sits at about 500. I've confirmed the gauge is accurate (via PCIII and USB hookup to my laptop) when the bike is running. Just a little annoyance that my OCD can't get over... anybody else experience this or know how to fix?
