  2. Good info..I'll do that docc, thanks!
  3. I spoke to the dealer today...he will do as you suggested, docc, and zero the CO. Mufflers and crossover were delivered to him today so shouldn't be long and she will be on her way home. Should have her in plenty of time to make the Slimy Crud in Wisconsin. Thanks again to all who shared their time and experience answering my questions. I'll let you know how things turn out! Dave
  4. JB & mz - I understand what you're saying. I agree starting with a good baseline and going from there is a good idea. Lucky for me I am already there. The bike runs perfectly in stock form and has had all the recalls and upgrades listed a few posts above, plus a complete service and new tires. I just know that I'll want to hear a little more of the motor from a nice exhaust. I don't know of any Guzzi shops near me that have a good reputation, and since the bike is currently being stored at a nice reputable shop I'd like to take advantage of knowing it will be properly tuned before it is shipped off to me. I am also under a bit of a time constraint as I can't just let it sit there infinitely while I make up my mind. Thanks, I do appreciate you taking the time to put together such a detailed list. Tom - thanks to you as well. Your last post had a good bit of the kind of info I was looking for. I am leaning toward the Mistral reverse cone style. If I am understanding you correctly...it sounds as though these mufflers with the Stucchi may have a more mellow sound, and the same mufflers with the Mistral crossover may have a sharper/harsher sound. Would you agree?
  5. I've purchased some of these pegs before...nice stuff. Stout piece. I believe they are available in black as well as some anodized colors if you like that sort of thing.
  6. JB - thanks for the detailed reply. As it sits the bike has no issues whatsoever. All recalls have been done, shifter springs, relays, fluid changes, shaft service, tuning, etc. The bike needs nothing, I just want a different sound. I'll have to look into those grease fittings.. Docc - I thought you may have been able to tell from the audio whether or not the baffles were in, but I agree that they are not visible. Maybe hidden by shadow or covered in carbon. Also - I don't have the bike in my possession to take a look...but, when ordering a crossover, do I need a sensor bung?
  7. There is this thread: A Tale of Four Crossovers started by Greg Field. Not sure if it has what you're looking for. -Docc, yes that was one of the threads I had read before adding my post. Definitely good info there, I've never heard a bad sounding V11! -Ha! I suppose you're probably right, there. I'm just new to the Guzzi world and you don't see one around too often, so honestly I wouldn't know! I was just looking for opinions on what might suit my wants/needs as stated. The truth is I have precious little knowledge about or exposure to Guzzi's. Would you say these reverse cone Mistrals have the db killers in or out? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCrXxFa1XQo&feature=player_detailpage
  8. I just bought a 2000 V11 Sport, and am will likely be purchasing some Mistrals and a crossover. I've done a fair amount of research on this forum regarding exhausts and crossovers. So, I'm looking for your thoughts - I generally ride my bikes for the "Zen" aspect of it all, more of a therapy then anything else. I don't normally ride to go fast or for a thrill, although often times the ride does turn out to be thrilling, which is perfectly fine with me! What is most enjoyable to me is just going through the gears and listening to the song of the engine. The deeper and more melodic, the better. I am not interested in blatty or raspy, just a deep, kind of percussive purr. It's a tough subject, as everyone's idea of this is probably a little different. I'm hoping to take whatever responses I get and be able to make a somewhat informed decision. With what I have read so far, and what I have listened to on youtube, etc, it seems that the oval or round canisters may give a deeper sound over the more visually appealing reverse cone design. With the varying quality of the videos, though, it is really hard to tell. It also seems the the Stucchi crossover gives a deeper tone than the Mistral. I realize mufflers and crossovers have been discussed ad infinitum, but typically the discussion is more performance oriented. Dyno charts are not that important to me, although the health of the motor is paramount. Thoughts?

    Magni fairing

Thank you all for your input. Thanks for welcoming me to the site...looking forward to delivery of my Sport and enjoying your site here! So, morgy, is that like PayPal or gwallet? -Docc, I don't think so. I think what he wants to do is simply a bank transfer; he said he would provide his bank info when the parts are ready. So yes...I have ordered this beautiful extravagance. The bars that come with it are painted black, which didn't really appeal to me as there really isn't anything else painted black on the bike. He said he could supply them chromium-plated...this didn't initially appeal to me either as I am not a huge chrome fan, but since the headlight bezel and gauge bezels are chrome accents I decided to give it a shot. Besides, by the time the switch housings and grips are mounted I think the visible areas of the bar will just be an accent as well. Hopefully I will like it. Docc, as an aside, since you are wanting to see a Magni in person...Tennesse ain't all that far from Illinois...maybe I'll run down there this summer! With just over 3000 miles she's barely broken in... I've also got an exhaust question or two, but I will start another thread with an appropriate title... Thanks Dave

Well, I certainly appreciate everyone's replies here. I'm very excited about my new Guzzi(also a green RedFrame Sport) . Haven't received it yet as it's being shipped. Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock... time is passing awfully slowly. Gio - I'm still curious about how you made your payment for the fairing. For some reason Mr. Magni wants me to pay via transfer through an email. I'm just wondering - why not thru his website? Guess I should just ask him...

    Magni fairing

Chamberlin - thanks for the ebay link, I appreciate you posting it. I saw that one...looks like it's missing the RH head to fairing bracket, and some other hardware. I think by the time I were to get it shipped and painted I'd be near or above the Magni price including painting and shipping, and then I'd still have to track down the missing hardware and buy that. The fairing price does include the lower bars. I do agree with luhbo the price is insane. docc - I hope the Gio you're referring isn't the same Gio I'm referring to?? (i.e.-Giovanni Magni) I guess the world really is small then! Dave

    Magni fairing

Hey everybody, New to the site, and new to the Guzzi world. Have a garage full of bikes, and at 49 yrs old just bought my first goose, a 2000 V11 Sport! Got a feeling I'm really going to love this thing. I've been looking at fairings, and really like the Magni. I've had a series of emails with Giovanni and he's asking me to make payment via email and that he will send me his bank info when the parts are ready to ship. This makes me a bit uncomfortable...have any of you purchased a Magni this way? Just curious. Thanks, Morgy
