I have an occasional no-start issue with the clutch microswitch. It bump starts fine (ugh!). Based on the diagram, am beginning to suspect relay #1. But, is it still relay #1 on 2004 models?
yes it looks like it feeds into 85 on the start relay

Sure, but a 1200cc Buell will easily loft the front wheel with all that torque. You just have to ride it accordingly. The V11 is likely just as fast, but the low end power of the Harley engine in the Buell will pull out stumps.
The V11 engine is something of a mid-range beast. It doesn't need to rev as high as some twins to make power, but it also doesn't have the low end power that a big twin can have. Perhaps it is the best compromise. But that Buell with the torque it had and the handling just this side of a TZ250, it was great. Sadly, it had issues keeping internal fluids internal.
dig it.
mine’s leaking though… ☹️ -

Pretty much. I did a how to post years ago. It's all pretty straight forward. High points
Don't attempt to adjust the main eccentric adjuster on the bike. It's a bench adjustment only despite what people do.
The shift returns spring on the stop plate assy can be installed upside down. When installed wrongly the spring arm rubs on the cover
The pawl arm over travel stop if adjustable should be .60mm clearance at the minimum point in the travel
Fit a scudd needle roller to the detent drum
Fit a Chuck spring
Check the pawl arm is straight and fine finish the contact faces.

cheers for your write-up on the gearbox phil- got me thru it.
It was only after i re-re-read it that i realised i should’ve draw-filed the bearing surfaces- i polished them but probably put a slight radius on them.
Working bloody lovely though now 🙂. Makes me appreciate the v11 setup as when it’s good it’s very good. I got a vfr400 this year and the action thru the box is no comparison. Which i wouldn’t have expected as when i saw inside the v11 guts it looked so… agricultural?- 3

Almost. I had a Buell X1, one of the best bikes I ever owned when it was running right. That thing was wicked. I loved it.
had a blast on a pals uly once, i kept hitting the end of the revs cos i was used to the v11. I love that the guzzis have that extra 2 thousand revs- really feel good in comparison

the po had cut 99.99 of the old lid away, leaving a sliver of plasique, which lost the strength to bolt down firmly. It has a jury-rigged ally frame i made atm- which is crap
-
my v11 is missing it’s airbox lid- i had to cobble a frame together to hold the filter down but would prefer to get hold of a lid really. She does roar on open throttle tho

I’ll bet there’s a couple V7 forums, or groups, on faceache

well it may or may not be pertinent to your troubles, but i had dreadful fuel consumption once that i eventually realised was due to a nasty crack in the exhaust near the lambda sensor (crossover area). So maybe check that whilst you’re scanning about?
