  1. Looking for a complete gearbox to replace the inoperable one currently in my 2002 V11 LeMans. Located in SE PA but shipping is an option as well. Let me know what you have, thanks!
  2. Hey all! I've been test riding my newly rebuilt and reinstalled engine, making sure everything is good before I get back to riding for fun. The good news is that everything seems fine with the engine. I've come across something interesting with the transmission, however. Riding around at slow speeds, everything is normal. When I am going faster, I have trouble down shifting. I haven't had a problem going from 2nd to 1st, but every gear above that seems to take a second or two before engaging. After shifting, I can hear the gears turning in the gearbox. Not grinding, mind you, but I can actually hear them turning. After a moment, it gets itself where it needs to be. This all happens while I'm still pulling the clutch. The first time I noticed it, I had already let off the clutch and the bike acted as if it was in neutral. So, I pulled the clutch again and tried shifting down, but nothing happened. Then, as I mentioned above, in a second or two, the gears engaged. Shifting up hasn't been an issue. Has anyone experienced this before? Could it be an issue with the clutch, or the transmission itself? I've done a decent amount of work on different engines, but I have never had to work on a transmission, so this is new territory for me. Thanks in advance!
  3. I'm walking through my transmission fix and any hands on insight would be greatly appreciated. You may remember a post (https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20313). I broke the forward selector (aka. movable hose) on the lower secondary shaft and long story short, I need to do the recall service myself. I have the replacement parts in hand. So far, my best plan of attack is outlined in this thread but I don't think I have to do a complete tear down and rebuild. https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20021 - Firstly, can these parts be replaced without the "special tools" specified in the workshop manual? I am very handy but do not own any of these and I have never had a transmission on my workbench. - Also, can this be done without separating the tranny from the engine? Meaning, go in after removing the swingarm and leave the engine and all it's wiring intact. Also, can I leave the transmission case connected to the engine and pull off the gearbox backplate with the gear stacks staying connected? That idea may be laughable but I'm learning as I go here. So the overall process would be: Remove swingarm, Unbolt gearbox backplate(s) and remove it with gear stacks / shafts still connected. With the output side down and the shafts pointing up, unstack parts from the shafts in question and reassemble in reverse order with replacement parts. Reinsert it as one assembled part when bolting on the backplate. This is doable, right? I see you shaking your head...   4. Hi all, Long time listener, first time caller. I am trying to replace the Uni joint in my drive shaft. The manual is not very helpful as simply says to undo the high tension bolts and remove!!! Have had a really good look through the “how to” section - so hoping this hasn’t been covered before (apologies if it has). Does anyone know of a way to remove the transmission shaft from the bike without removing the swing arm? The yoke of the universal joint is too large to fit through the hole in the swing arm - so you cant pull it down far enough to clear the gearbox shaft. I also considered taking the uni joint apart - but you also cant get to the clips on the uni joint. Any ideas?
  5. Can anyone help with this? I have a 2003 model v11 Le Mans which was first registered in 2006. It has covered 10000 miles from new and runs really well but being new to the bike I am a little worried about a noise that appears when I pull in the clutch at standstill with the engine running. It sounds like a worn thrust bearing, not quite a rumble but more of a metallic roughness. Once the bike has had a run and warmed up it is not so noticeable and of no concern when moving. The clutch feels fine in operation with no stiffness or slippage. It may be that this is all perfectly normal but being new to Guzzi,s I would appreciate some reassurance! I absolutely love the bike and other than rebuilding the rear master cylinder which was seized have had no problems. Thank you for any suggestions, Jez
