Hi. Just a heads up to all interested riders who want to throw a tent down on newly defrosted but goose -fresh fertilized field to camp out with other similar minded and bike crazed individuals.

Love of motorcycles and blood shot smoke- filled watery eyes is mandatory. The ability to get your bike dirty and possibly muddy is a plus. The willingness to shiver, snort and snuffle in the great out doors in Mid April while listening to the dulcet tones of the Mass pike in the distance is appreciated along with a good sense of humor and the ability to laugh at yourself for showing up to this event in the first place.

This will be held at the Hamilton Rod and Gun Club in Sturbridge Mass, yep , the same place that IMOC is held but we don't wait for the ground to firm up and dry out. So bring a drop cloth to help float your tent should we have inclement weather. (don't forget what Geese do the best and it isn't flying)

Should you be of the demented type and actually consider coming to this first of a kind rally you will receive absolutely nothing for your twenty dollars. No pins. No T-shirt. No bag of discount coupons at the local stores and restaurants. Just a wrist band that says you have paid for the dubious priviledge of being with other Guzzisti and Beemerphiles and whoever else is terminal with 'Cabin Fever' from the Winter of '06'. You get to chase chill blaines, frost bite and hypothermia away in the usual manner by an open fire scorching one side of you at a time while the other remains properly chilled. People will ride the local roads but don't look for anything organized.

As the name implies, there will be an indoor range open for target practice. You have to have the State legal requirements to carry your own firearm and ammunition to partake of the range. NO drinking while the range is open during the day on Saturday for obvious reasons. The use of the range IS optional.

I have tried to keep this a bare bones rally but the above list is quite extensive for what you get for no additional charge. The HRG Bar will be open for Friday night for those that wish to come early and help remove the geese prior to setting up their tent. The availability of coffee at the site is still under consideration as I am looking for someone to make the coffee at 5 am after leaving a warm sleeping bag. So far there has been no volunteers for such a civic minded duty.

Entertainment will be your best jokes around the fire and someone said they would bring their IPOD.

If, after reading this, you think that I am certifiably mad you may be right but the only way to prove this is to come and pay your twenty bucks and then we can compare 'notes'. I hope there are other twisted individuals that enjoy getting out in the fresh air , the friendship and the mutual enthusiasm for motorcyling. If your bike is down for repairs (like four out of five of mine) then DRIVE a car. You get added points from me to be willing to take the verbal abuse from the rest of the riders.

April 13th, 14th, 15th any questions??? ( I already told you the good stuff) bikermedic5807@yahoo.com Thanks ,, Larry

Just out of curiosity, what might those be? Since MA is providing the crib notes for the PRK's assault on our civil rights, I'd imagine about all that you lot in MA can use anymore are charcoal-burnin' front stuffers, and the redcoats from Boston will soon be marching on Lexington & Concord unopposed to take even those away from you...

Since I've been the de facto Shoot'n'Scoot organizer for the L.A.Bikers here in the PRK [except I haven't done one for the past couple years; too busy], I have a slightly more than casual interest in seeing what goes on there, since it will be coming soon in a piece of poorly-written legislation from Sacramento. :vomit:

Skeeve; I like your style but YOU guys (California) have CARB breathing down the backs of this entire nation for EPA requirements. Individual states STILL have alot more leeway on Gun control ( or lack of it). Yes I do live in a pseudo socialist state and will be moving to spend the rest of my retirement years elsewhere.

To answer your question; There are two types of pistol permits that I am aware of.

A and B. A allows you to conceal carry ,large capacity. B. allows you to trigger lock (or bore cable lock) in a locked area (Gun box, trunk, glove box (?) and you don't get to own a large capacity pistol. The ammunition on a B permit Must be carried away from the gun in a seperate locked box or compartment. Essentially to not make it of any use to you the owner in an emergency situation. If you don't qualify for an A permit you carry a cell phone to call for the police. An A permit goes anyplace if you are law enforcement but NOT if you are a civilian. Like Bars/alcohol, schools, certain public buildings etc. A B permit along with the transport requirements allows you to only transport your pistol to and from a range or target area and back home again. No carrying it into the mall on your way home etc. IF you are a convicted felon then kiss your permit goodbye unless there is law enforcement pushing for it for you. If you get charged and arrested for domestic violence, DWI and similar things that show a public recklessness then it could be grounds for revoking your A or B permit.

Just to make your day...It is the town Chief of Police that gets the final say so of if you are going to get issued a permit and what kind it is. This is a one on one interview. (Don't grind your teeth, it is bad for the enamel)

I am sure I either have some of this wrong or I have forgotten something.

For long guns, rifle, shotgun. you have to have the protection (in place) along with in a carrying case so it is not obvious to the public (because they WILL call the station in a panic) and you have to have your FID. Ammo locked in a seperate box...etc. They would LIKE you to keep your long gun in a case until you get in the woods to hunt but common! We are already wearing flouresent orange hat and vest with a minimum square inches prescribed so if joe citizen sees us then it might just be hunting season and THEY are required to wear the ornage stuff too, good idea for the dog too. I didn't say we are all super hunters, some are just city folk with an FID. Dog, tethered Goat, Cow, it's a long list of mistaken targets.

I hope somewhere's in here you find a chuckle but for me it is a real PITA. If you really want to be scared then look to England and I can tell you about Australia too.

I am waiting for Saturday night AFTER the range closes and the beers open. I don't like people I don't know doing a show and tell around the campfire. Larry
