V50 Electricals

Hi All

I have just bought a 1977 V50 and it was restored about 8 years ago. It has been used up until about 4 months ago.

I gt the bike home fitted a new battery and proceeded to try and start the bike. When i turn the ignition key i dont get any lights on the dash cluster at all. I am also only able to turn the bike over by shorting the solenoid. I have 4 fuses under te sea and wondered if i am missing something obvious here as the wiring seems in good condition.

If anyone can help that would be appreciated.

The ignition switch is usually the first suspect

The switch gets power from the red wire either connected to the solenoid as shown or possibly from the battery

and returns it to the two top fuses, check for power at the fuses with the key on. If you don't have a meter use a 12 Volt lamp.

Also check that you put all the wires back when you changed the battery, it's easy to miss one.
