Yeah, it surprised me that link displayed the later "faired" Sport design study from Marabese Design/ June 2000. Luciano, himself, said he designed the V11 Sport in one night, without being asked by any Guzzi management or others; as an inspiration. And he was adamant that his vision was in one color, "monochromatic." Luciano Marabese/ V11 Sport Designer
footgoose
the fairing "frame" mounting points are present on my early 2000 neck. It indicates something was planned early on.

Or were those mount points already on the SpineFrame from the faired SPOrT 1100/1100 Sport-i? From the Daytona, even?
footgoose
Yeah, I forgot about those. No doubt they’ve been on the frame neck all along the spine era
docc
Seems the V11 is wrought with a plethora of vestigial structures, but little if any forward thinking . . .

There's a reason I coined the phrase "going out of business since 1921." They've alway been a small company hanging on by their bootstraps, and making wonderful motorcycles with very little money. The last really competently engineered machine was the V7 Sport, IMHO. There is generally a lot of afterthought engineering. The Centauro was one of those worst cases, and our beloved V11 Sports are it's children. Ahh, forward thinking is for Honda..
