MGS01 with bigbore watercooled engine

Hehe thanks Paul  you're giving me good ideas,I only question the reliablity of the thing because so far it hasn't apear on many "aplications" - bikes (AFAIK)

P.S> I mean the Bigbore as in the MGS on the photo , was that what you mean??

 

About other big bore kit , I think about it when the bike would need it in some 40-70k km more or if I get too bored about how it is now.At the moment I look for ways to keep engine running as healthy as possible

KIND OF WANT NOW??? Unless your a Postal Worker who gets to deliver the mail

on your own personnel Guzzi every day...

 

That would take me like 4 to 6 Years to cover those miles. But lets

say ya your the serious TOURER (Hat off to ya) and ya can do it in 2 years.

 

Granted I've had a lot of different Guzzi's. But I honestly had my v11 for

a total of 247 miles and said "God dam! I love this engine and new tranny...

But its the wrong colors everywhere and I need some porting and 11.1's!!!"

Seriously, I road the bike for 247 (came with 11K on it) and tore it down to

the just the engine and spine frame.

 

Wires???

`Well I have my Guzzi for the last 19months have already made a "wooping"

39K km already.Do a lot of touring though that's not the bike's "cup of tea" in terms of comfort for doing many miles per day.

The bike is still "sexy" and "charming" so I plan to keep it for a long term relationship beek.

Dunno I don't want to change cylinders already but I may do that in next 24 months,and get a complete new motor for spare just to have an original 1100 at the side(if I want to restore to the "original"condition..Will have to see what's there first and then descide if I get the project moving.

Original condition (no bores an extra holes) is important for me so I firstlly have in mind to bring a couple of PS out just by having the motor run at it's best, with little

tunning aids. I don't expect much , I don't need to much (at the moment) I have a genuine 81PS at the wheel measured, and I know that the power curve can change and increase up to 5% or so with a bit tunning (i.e. PCIII) and so on.

i.e. measured at the same time a same Corsa bike of my friend with the Termignoni exaust kit and the original Corsa chip gave out simply 83.4 HP on the wheel. The chip plays important role. I am sure have seen it on dyno while playing with chips , in and out and saw almost identical power curves though difference in power output. ;) That's why I descided to dig the PCIII and co. kind of tunnings.

 

Nice Mistral carbons you have there, :thumbsup:

I got some alu Mistrals fitted this season and they're sounding :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Man, you do rack up some miles!

Thats some serious site seeing, I'm jelious.

 

Its tuff making "big" mods, with the goal of putting

out juice, yet keeping her stock. Not to mention,

you could find yourself un-able to find replacement

performance parts down the road if and when they break.

 

I'm having that problem right now with my 76 Lemans 1.

About 10 years ago I put a 992 cc big bore kit on her,

made by Agustini. Long story short, now I need replacement

pistons and they no longer make those pistons (by Ram @ 90 mm bore).

Looks like my only opption from Augustini right now is a

948 cc Barrel's & Piston's Kit... I'm still on the fence.

 

With my v11sport during the tear down for powder-coating and anodizing.

I ended up adding FBF 11.1 pistons and FBF "Stainless-Steel" racig valves,

bigger K&N's, Quad-D exhaust, PCIII (best money ever spent),

5.5 Lemans rear rim, and some stiffer fork springs. She really boogies now.

And with the PCIII I have endless tunning opptions.

 

I would still like to add a light weight Clutch/Flywheel. Maybe over winter.

But... I almost think I should buy a spare set of Pistons and Valves so

way down the road and FBF doesn't make them anymore, I wont be stuck!

Well last year was twice in central Europe totaling well over 10K in both tours

this year only once totaling another 5k or so.here and there(local country) have done some other trips but these will be reduced this year. an over 60% was done in traveling so far.Always good , the only problem is sometimes to get of the bike.

Well this year will be more relaxed as I think of.

Maybe you can just find some original cylinders pistons on the net and have less cost , still remain on stock (easier to find?) parts.

Interesting , have you measured any PS on a dyno yet , even using different PCIII maps??I mean then you'll have a more complete view of whats happening to the bike when using different maps, and also notice what is usable power.

The Mistrals and the Mistral crossover didn't gave me a smooth power curve but there is plenty of tourgue from 3-4K rpm I mean plenty (will have to request the graph from Daes-Guzzi where I forgot it) to be exact but as I can recal there is minimum ,about, 60-65% of the total tourgue laying in 3500.rpm or so.

Yeah that's a good idea to have some stock if you're interested on the same, but at the other hand as long as you are in stock sizes you have a broader choice.

You can always use the originals in caxe of "emergency"

As far as goes about lighter clutch , I recon it as not a reliable thing (those ergal made and or others that have metal removed) to have on your bike. I'll never change these, the gain is to few for the money and risk-reliablity taken.

There is a stock clutch that was described as "light" from HMB Guzzi where he sells some original V11 parts.

Paint! I wish, that would have made my life alot easier.

I hand the seat, foam seat pad and the Foam tank pad

recovered. First I had to find a color of "Pleather" that would match

my pork chops, should have seen me in the sewing supplie store carring

my red sub frame around asking the ladies to help me match.

Then I had to find someone willing to "Take on" the foam. Nobody

wanted to deal with the pad and tank pad. Finally found some one through

Yoshi at the Garage Company. They did a great job.

 

They ended up later on doing my buddy Jason (aka gh67) tank pad in

carbon fiber cloth (like on some after market seats out there.

 

I was seriously chewing off my nails when all my parts and seats where

getting painted and recovered. Iwas like "Have you totally gone mad and

its all going to look ^&^**^%!"

 

Its kind of a Rockabilly 32 Ford Coupe crashing into a D.C. Comics character.

Looks great. This isn't really the right thread to start asking about things that aren't BigBores, but... you mention foam tank pad. Do the early bikes have foam pads set on top of the tanks? Mine's the big plastic lump that is set on and in a large recess in the tank top. Perhaps it looks 'good', but it makes a pretty poor surface to set a tank bag on! :o

 

As a matter of interest, do you have or are you putting any logos (MG or anything else) on the bike – or are you keeping it all plain, solid colour?

This MGS01 is still for sale- back on EBAY and the price has fallen from £14000 to £12500 eventually!

but at that price its well under the original sticker maybe not enough if he thrashed it around and still really high since the bike has no real well ..... anything other than recreational track day use. :huh2: I'd love a street version of that bike it has one helluva look to her.

Get a set of two MAG Flashlights from Home Depot

and put your v11 plate on her... Now you've got

weekend road bike... Ha ha.

 

Or atleast that was one of the reason way back when

that I wanted a v11: papers and a plate 4 a Guzzi track bike.

 

Of course, now that I have me v11, I have her cause I love her.

My v11 is a 2000, and they have a foam tank pad, I think its

for leaning on when your talking to your buddies at your

local hang out... Kind of an Elbow Mini Couch" or some

extra comfort when you get a tank slapper. Ha ha.

 

I beleive the newer v11 not only got ridd of the pad but

also have a 2 or 3 bigger liter tank.

The pad was kind of like that 1976-78 Lemans foam stuff.

A real pain to have some one willing to cover, but I found

the right guy and now he's covered two more of my buddies bikes.

 

No badges on this one, wasn't in the theme. But after getting

sick of being asked at my local European bike night...

"Is that a Ducati?!? Cool!" I said BLANK IT and added these.
