Guest Nigelstephens Posted January 16, 2007 Share Posted January 16, 2007 Got by box apart and the main bearing feels rough. No bits in the oil and everything else seems okay. Please would someone tell me a part number for skf or otherwise for the bearing I need to get. I know there has been alot about plastic cages and the like. Just want to make sure I donet get one of these. The gearbox is for an centauro 5 speed. The bearing is the large one on the input shaft. The selector drum moves around about 1mm laterally with end cover on but no gasket. This does not seem that much but I have some shims coming. Has anyone got any experiance whether removing this clearance will actually improve gearchanges? I know Pete Roper has an article on this but just wondering if anyone else has done this job with good results. If you can help me out with a pdf manual for the Centauro please PM me?
