  1. I swapped out my clutch assembly, didn't remove the alt. IIRC, just stuck something in the start ring to stop turning. but I'm a shaved ape so... depends on your level of persnickety. In the bowels of this forum is most all the information you'll need to decide whether to swap to either a RAM aftermarket or an OEM dual plate clutch. Then any concern for the possibility of the aluminum flywheel failing will be gone. That's the road I took.

  2. I did not have to remove the alternator (at the front of the engine) to dismantle the clutch and flywheel. Good call to have a close look (dye inspection?) of your Rosso Mandello aluminum flywheel. Might as well unbolt the flywheel from the crank and (dye) inspect its forward surface. Make time to see to the common leak points. "Once and done." Have you found a RAM replacement clutch/flywheel unit?

  3. Well yes, any metric grade 10.9 bolt would do if it has: - Rolled, not cut threads A section of plain shank to fit the hole snugly A head size that doesn't interfere with the clutch. The genuine MG part has already taken care of these considerations, and I see MG Cycle sells them for $1.68 ea. Since it's standard on lots of models, I'd ask Motokiwi for a price.

  4. Good price. I wouldn't use the Surflex friction plates though and you'd need to swap the input shaft hub n the gearbox to fit it but still a much safer bet than a single plate unit with the fracture prone flywheel. Oh, and the other friction plate is there, it's just behind/under the intermediate plate. You can see it's splines.

  5. Been so busy with some travel, family stuff and holidays that not much work done. Finally got my BT stand from BD after ping ponging across the Atlantic 3x. Came with instructions only in German...i asked them for English translation and they told me to contact BT. Seems like you would want them to provide proper instructions for something holding up over 400 lbs. In the meantime I found a used pair of pit bull stands for a great price so the bike is lifted now with both wheels off. Have new Angel GT's ready to go on wheels today. Got the bead breaker wheel stand from HF, worth every penny. Will do driveline service while wheels are off and new brake pads and caliper service. Still looking for a used HF cycle lift. Just missed out on a almost new used one for $450. Have to be quick with them, they go fast on CL. There will be others, just have to be the early bird.

  6. Back home again in Indiana.. wrote a song about it.. and can type again. For whatever reason, neither my Android tablet nor Kindle Fire would let me post on this site. They call me Rain man out in SoCal. Every time I come out it rains so I can't ride in the mountains because of the rock and mud slides. Sooooo, I called in a "historic" Pineapple Express *and* Bomb cyclone shortly after I took this picture. My job there was done.

  8. No it has two friction plates, I guess one is not in the photo. I can get more pics if you want. It’s from a Centauro, I don’t know the mileage but the splines do not show much if any wear. I can shoot close ups if wanted.

  10. I hurt my back yesterday, building a tire change jig. As I laid on the couch all day I watched lot's of good stuff. One of my favorite movies, Sing Street (Netflix), and endless Youtube videos. This particular one was so calming, I really enjoyed traveling along with him as he rode his '67 so so very far across Canada. Enjoy!

  12. I've got the alternator off my bike at the moment. You are welcome to come over to look and see how little it will help with accessing the clutch. BTW, the manual says "Screws “B” (flywheel bolts) must be replaced with new ones upon the following reassembly, due to the high load and stresses they are subject to; (apply thread locking product, Loctite, medium strength, to the screws and tighten to torques of Nm 40 ÷ 42)." P/N GU12067701 Qty 6.

  14. Always on the calendar for me...see you there again this year Leroy! 630 miles door to door...maybe I should do it on the Scura this year...but the Norge is so much easier for carrying camping gear and the long distances.

  19. The red paint is thicker. That decreases the clearance. Also, the front zerk has a special antigravity coating that repels the grease gun.

  20. And now for something completely different...I did my first V11 oil change...nice ritual doing the filter. Also drained all the fuel and put in a couple gallons non E. Who knew how long those fluids have been sitting in there with the bike last registered in 2015. Google is my friend. With no manuals yet I questioned how to check oil level on this bike with no center stand. Many old posts from this site popped up. Got it dialed in because of all the info here. Can't wait to tackle the driveline zerks. 😳

  21. Ok, back to our regularly scheduled program. I have the mill set up, and will start the last no doubt highly collectable Lucky Phil V11 Sport Shifter Extender (tm) run this afternoon. Yeah, I know.. I said the last one was the last. But. I have a precedent, set by Guzzi.. "Hey, Luigi..those 500 numbered Rossos sold pretty well. Let's run another batch."
