  1. Hi Martin...the bike was 2 yrs old when i got it...but i took the RAC used bike warranty...and i was very skeptical about this type of warranty, but it paid out the first £1000...so have a practically new gearbox and a fully set up machine including a service for just over £130...legend
  2. Hi all, a while back i asked if anyone had had any problems shifting from 3rd to 4th. Well, my bike has been off the road at Moto Corsa in Dorset since October. Mike Russell de Clifford has been working of the bike, and stripped the gearbox down to see what the problem was.....2 roller bearings had collapsed, 4th and 6th gears needed replacing, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear selectors were trashed as was the sleeves and associated lock rings, etc etc All the bits were replaced at a cost of £1138 inclusive of labour, and the bike road tested...changed from 1st to 2nd ok, 2nd to 3rd was a bit stiff, and 3rd to 4th...non starter. On closer inspection, the selector shaft lever was hitting the swing arm...slight denting on the front part of the swingarm. Now, i bought the bike in Feb of last year, and after a week, it went away for the engine repaint under warranty...and it looks like it may have been put back together and the selector shaft lever may have been inadvertently adjusted to increase its length. This would not look out of place when the bike is fully assembled, but only when the gear lever is changed up the gears. So, to that end, the lever has been in contact with the swing arm, loading up the bearings and gears in the gearbox, and has been like this for some months....and being a newbie to V11's, i just thought they were crap at changing gears Mike has done an amazing job...i found myself stamping on the gear lever trying to select 1st and then 2nd, only to realise it was already in gear....he also tuned the beast as the left hand cylinder was 1/2 a mile behind the right...i thought that it ran fine and as i pulled onto the motorway, the front wheel came off the ground for the first time So there you go...no wonder no-one replied to my post when i asked if anyone else had suffered this
  3. Hi, i had the engine repainted in the same paint...also had the rear transmission done at the same time as it is the same paint, and was flaking off. Am very happy with the work that was carried out...but if they are offering new cases...well, why not...and it means that hopefully someone with half a clue will rebuild it, and will hopefully give the engine a good eyeballing for any signs of wear and tear etc etc
  4. have added some reliability to owning a guzzi
  5. Had leak onto the x-over as well...turned out to be from the gearbox. metal to metal faces, so just wasnt clean enough. also, the bolts are forward facing and behind framework, so it was engine out to clean faces and torque down bolts again. job done under RAC warranty.
  6. I have an 02 Lemans. This past week, i have noticed that as i change from 3rd to 4th, i pull in the clutch, and as i try to shift the gear lever, it seems solid and won't move...sometimes i let the clutch out thinking it's in 4th, only to find it's still in 3rd. Trying again gets it into 4th. Anyone else ever experienced this. This isn't a problem when pootling round town, but was out for a longer faster ride today, and it's a bit un-nerving when the rear end throws itself about when i mistakenly think it's in 4th, and give it a another handful to stay with my friends on their jap bikes! Sorry if this is a known problem and i haven't researched it thoroughly enough, but off to Ireland soon, and if it's something i need to worry about, would like to get onto the dealer as we all know how long it will take to anything done to a Guzzi, esp here in the uk.
  7. I got offered £2100 on an 02 Lemans with 13500 on the clock...I'm keeping it though cos it rocks!!!
  8. hi, name is chris... started biking 21 months ago on a cali special...couldn't have any weight on wrists due to shattering incident 4 yrs ago then i saw the v11 lemans and needed it... now have regular visits to my doctor for big ass pain killers. had a little incident with my lemans and my wifes car last month...hence the slightly different colour of my bike...appoaching 20k miles in as many months, so am not pee'd off too much about the accident, but am worried about how much the insurance will be next year!!! in process of tidying up the rsend of the bike...getting the number plate/rear light bracket chopped down to bring it closer to the undertray, and waiting on mistral x over. absolutely love my bike...wouldn't have any other....and hoping the summer here won't end.
  9. these were made by renegade, including new crossover and additional piping... http://www.renegade-products.com have ure speakers on when you open the site, and imagine a guzzi attached to the end of that noise...rocking
  10. have recently removed a "one off" set of renegade cans and pipework from my v11 as you lose the rear footrests and wife not hp....these sound amazing...and are up for sale...cost £1100 originally...have receipts, and open to offers
