  2. All these filter reference numbers are fine but, if I go into a shop and ask for it, the first question will be "What vehicle does it fit?" and most places will not even have motorcycle-inclusive search engines. Plus, I have the less than sneaking feeling that car filter prices will be substantially less than motorcycle ones - especially for HD. All of the Transit 2.5 (91-00) and Transit Connect 1.8 (00->) diesels use a UFI filter that is very close to the recommended one for V11s. 23.280.00 as opposed to 23.287.00. 1.6 Austin Maestro/Montego petrol engines of the 80/90s use a filter which is identical to the one recommended for BB Guzzis at the time, although that number is now obsolete in the UFI reference book.
  3. To drag this thread up from the dusty confines of internet history: Modern retailers do not reference oil filters by type code. Their computer stock search engines will only allow input of Manufacturer/model/year. The thought of dragging the average shop droid through the process to get hold of some obscure Italian bike manufacturer ("A Moto Wotti?") is not something i relish. I am sure that the spin-on filters will also be used by some Italian (and other) car and I know that filter manufacturers used to list vehicle fitments on the packaging. Does anyone know what cars the usual V11 spin-on fits? I seem to remember that the big block used the same filter as the mid 70s Fiat 128. But I wouldn't bet my big ends on it.

  5. Highest fashion here, at the moment, is to look like a slightly tailored 1950s trials star. http://www.barbour.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=products.view&ProductID=17095&PCategoryID=23&RangeID=1
  6. All that owner needs to do now is paint the tank green & the sidecovers & running gear white... I would rather like him (unlikely to be a female, in my ever so humble opinion) to explain how he managed to fit that dumper truck tyre between the forks. Bet the front wheel won't turn. Or the forks won't, er, fork.
  7. Have a good one. Looks like it might rain.....
  8. It's always possible that someone has already been in there to repair the cruciform and was only able to source one without a nipple.
  9. Wrong question. "Those guys" are everywhere and it is nearly impossible to sift them out. They even had one as POTUS recently. The correct question is "Why is there not someone available who can deal with me intelligently?"
  10. The second runs are a vast improvement, with almost exactly a 10% increase in peak HP. Much smoother curves, too.
  11. You live in the Dolina Poprad? You lucky, lucky bastard. I hate you.
  12. That's a _very_ interesting rev counter. I reckon the bevel gears must have been really rather noisy at full chat......
  13. Speak for yourself. Some of us are only 50 in body. I'm about 16 between the ears.
  14. You don't want them spinning like a top in their bores, or you would have yet another wear point to deal with. They just need to move a fraction of a circle so that wear is spread as evenly as possible.
  15. Interesting to know if it was the Victoria. Only two I know of are the BMW and Zundapp.
  16. Is the revolving footpeg part of the design?
  17. I'll PM you my address so you can kick off without further enquiry.
  18. Do you want to post the whole unit to me and I'll make up a new elbow in something more substantial?
  19. I know you're in the Emerald Isle but is the inside of your CARC _meant_ to be that rusty?
