  2. Hey guys. Thanks for all the help. I managed to get it open. I used blue lube by benchmade. Worked great. Lock is still junky so i ordered a a whole key set from barbers, including a new tank lock, for 108$. Thanks again for all the input.
  3. I looked on the box the cap came in..............pretty old but it fits Triumph,Ducati & Aprillia........ If I remember eBay seller had a "buy it now" or "make offer" price... There are MANY to choose from. Anodized colors, styles, etc. BTW........theses are stainless steel fasteners so don't drop any in the fuel tank. A magnet will not pick them up.I know this from experience. Thanks. weighing my potions. going to try dri-slide if i can find it. I did get in touch with harpers and they can get a whole locking set for me for $108 or so. Might do that.
  4. Dri-Slide. Oily lubricants attract dirt and cause the lock internals to wear. Dri-Slide is moly-graphite in an evaporative carrier solvent. Be careful, anything it touches *will* get stained black. Thanks. I'm going to look into that.
  5. What model did you ger? I don't see any Guzzi ones, just ducati, yamaha and mv.
  6. Hey peoples, So here's my issue. I have a 2001 V11 Sport and my gas cap lock is giving me fits. Never had an issue before and just out of nowhere, the key won't go completely in the lock. It goes 3/4ths the way in. Anyone have any ideas for a fix? If it has to be replaced, that's fine, but I need to get it open. I'm low on gas. Technically question: Are there screws on the inside of the cap to hold it in place? Thanks in advance for all the help.
  7. Hey everyone. I'm looking for a replacement gauge for my 2001 v11 sport. I've posted about this before, didn't get much, so I thought I'd try again. My current gauge has some issues...no working speedo and the tach is on the frits. All the indicators work though. I either want to find a used v11 gauge or some sort of aftermarket gauge. I've seen some nice ones, but don't know where to look. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for the input.
  8. Does anyone have a fully functioning v11 gauge cluster that will fit a 2001? or something else that will fit a 2001 that's not over the top expensive? I'm looking for the og gauge or a good idea for replacing them. both my speed and tach crapped out on me. the only reason i still have it on is for the gas light.
  9. hey gstallons, do you think this could be the route of my problem? also, i looked up maxi-fuses andthere didn't seem to be a 10a (which i believe the burnt out one is). can i use a different value?
  10. SO i was trying to test the connectinos with the multimeter and the battery wasn't even giving me a reading...so i started rooting around, looking for a burnout or something...opened the fuse box and found th3 F5 fuse melted. it's melted so bad, that i can't tell if it's no good. it doesn't seem to have blown, but i'm thinking this could be relative to my issue. gstallons, thanks for offering to talk about it. if you're around over the weekend, maybe i can call sunday if i don't figure it out by then. my work week is busy as hell and living in new york, i don't really have the ideal situation to be working on the bike at night. thanks again everyone. i'm going to keep working at this.
  11. Hey Guys, thank you for all your input. i do have a guy who takes care of her, but he's out of town and it's too nice out for me to wait (plus, i hate mass transit when i can ride). i have a multimeter and i'm about to go check. i'm going to look into everything you mentioned and hopefully find the culprit. thanks again for all your advice. and, no...i've never been very good at circuity. down to learn though! -ryan
  12. Can anyone tell me why a 10 month old Yuasa battery would just drain out? This past thursday (june 9th), a friend and I went to a bar for some food and a drink to wait out a storm that was coming in. the rain stopped and we got riding and it started to rain again, but we decided to just ride through it. half way into our commute (about 40min), my batter light comes on, then about 5 blocks from my apartment the bike just dies...it was puttering and i was just hoping to make it home...i did not. I took the battery out and through it on a tender over night. in the morning i walked back to the bike, through the battery back in and she started up fine. the battery light was still on though, so i rode her around the neighborhood for 10 minutes, she seemed fine and the light even turned off, so off to work i went, 15 minutes later, she dies again on me. so now, i park my bike, take the battery out, jump on the subway and go to work (live in nyc). i charge the battery while at work...get back to my bike after work, throw the battery in, she starts up, i ride home and then sit out by my bike to see how long she takes to die...15min...during this time, the taillight turned off and the horn stopped working (tested it right before she died). DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN? do i have a short? loose wires? defective battery?
  13. oh man, i like that. that can be hooked up to the guzzi? all indicators working? or is it a total pain and half the shite don't work? Well, the gas indicator will not work. See HowTo section... damn it! i need a gas light. my odometer doesn't work so i need the gas light.
  14. i don't know if i could deal with the no gas indicator. i've had to push this beast before. not fun.
