Here is the event basic information.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN MOTOGIRO

NAKUSP BRITISH COLUMBIA

SEPTEMBER 13, 14 AND 15, 2013

Rocky Mountain MotoGiro is an event promoted by the Rocky Mountain Section of the

Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group. It is one day of road riding on public roads at legal

speed limits and a second day of closed road timed riding.

The event is fashioned after the original Giro Motociclistico d'Italia, an endurance race

comprising 3,400 km in 8 legs through mountain roads down the length of the boot. All road

racing in Italy was banned in 1957 after a horrific accident in the Mille Miglia race, spelling an

end to the Giro.

The endurance portion of the Rocky Mountain MotoGiro will take place over 300 kilometers in

four legs, points being awarded for the ability of the participant to travel each leg at the

average posted speed limit. The event will start and end in Nakusp B.C.

The closed road portion of the event will be in Nakusp on the Nakusp Hot Springs road, a 12

km mountain road, mostly up hill. This will be timed with points being awarded in two classes,

125cc and under and 250cc and under.

Points will also be awarded for the age of the machine, older machines being awarded more

points than newer machines; size of machine, smaller machines being awarded more points

than the larger machines and in recognition of the original event and the participants of the

time, points will be awarded for the origin of the machine, most points for Italian machines, next

for European machines, next for Japanese and American machines

Points will be awarded and awards given for fit and finish, judged by a participant's choice

A chase vehicle will be following the participants

Eligible bikes will be as follows:

250cc for 4 stroke machines up to 1974

200cc for 2 stroke machines from 1970 to 1974

250cc for 2 stroke machines prior to 1970

350cc for machines from to 1949 to 1959
