And somehow to here. The bloke in the video with the obviously bleached hair was a mate of mine for a while at Uni. Very talented. His name is Nick Disbray. I don't think he managed to do anything very successful after being with that group. Pity really, he was very talented. :(

One can be envious of those spider fingers, but you can't beat genetics. :huh2:

Of course, the "natural advantage" is not everything. The man has obviously spent many, many hours practising, and has a talent for music.

The left hand reminds me of someone who was at the University with me. He didn't have the long fingers, but the left hand was very relaxed, and he was very, very accurate. At the time he was mostly playing jazz. Apparently, he moved on to Latin American stuff. And yes, it seems he is earning money doing advertising for various guitars. A man has to earn a living. :huh2:

PS: for regular visitors, yes, I have mentioned Doug before. Because he is good. I'll probably mention him again. More than once. B)

Very excellent performing by your friend. Interesting he is playing 7 string guitar. Altamira builds some fantastic guitars in China. Also producing some of the best Asian made Gypsy Jazz guitars as well.

This thread has convinced me that I was on another planet during the '60's through ... possibly now!

I knew that I was a noncombatant in the sexual revolution -- despite my constant efforts to enlist!  -- but I never understood the music of the times and, then and now, found and find it off-putting.

I was an all-state drummer in high school, got and declined a music scholarship to college, continued to play drums in all sorts of local bands to pay the way through college and law school, but never felt any connection to the music.  Instead, with the exception of the occasional gig with a visiting "Big Band" playing "Swing Era" stuff, it was money and nothing more.

I don't say any of that in a critical or dismissive way of the rock and other similar music beloved by others here.  On the contrary, I am envious that so much of that seems to evoke nostalgia.

FWIW, Kathi has similar views, tho she does get misty-eyed over much folk music, and shares my liking of bluegrass.  We do not listen to music at home, but occasionally, and only that, in the car on longer trips.

Now, I do play an unusual -- OK, weird :P -- set of music when puttering in the Moto Grappa.

I think I have posted some of that here before with fewer-than-expected jeers, tho I am sure some eye-rolling.

Predictably, given my years of rudimental drumming in marching bands, I like these guys ...

For the same reason, I am also a big fan of HMKG ...

But, my most recent affectation is this and similar items that I stream into the Moto Grappa ...

Makes me feel good about young people and the way ahead.

OK.  Enough.  Best to you all.

One of the worlds great Guitarists and songwriters. Everone not familiar do yourself a favour and look at his full body of work inc his movie scores, brilliant. I recommend the score from the movie "Local Hero" to start with, just to give you a taste.

Someone who was under the radar for me.

Billy Strings I know, a friend got to play some with at a Kentuckians of Michigan get together. Marcus King I must live under a rock from time to time.

All very nice, except the acoustic guitar is slightly out of tune. Pity, because they both play well. :(
