I tried clipping that to restore the links, but without success.

Yeah, same here. Copied the rest out and put it in the address bar. All I got was "this page doesn't exist".

I notice that the format of the "links" , i.e this:

.com/37737215-e75a-4437-b772-db940d46dd91

doesn't seem to match what I see in the address bar when I go to a random post somewhere in the forum, which looks like this:

.com/forums/topic/5691-breakdown-of-model-year-changes/#comment-256916

No idea what that might mean, though. :huh2:

There are some solid threads here on this "Startus Interuptus " issue that affects V11 after 1999-2001.

We'll get it sorted.

This certainly sounds like the best advice for @audiomick . . .

A bit tricky to post existing Gallery images to a new post:

"Right click" the thumbnail in the album and select "Copy Image Link" and the image will paste and display.  Attempting this from the image, itself, is not an option.

Do we know if the MPH Cycles unit fits the V11 Sport/Lemans?

If your Breva 750, 1100, 1200 , Norge 1100, 1200, or Griso sometimes makes a click from under the seat  when you want the motor to make a roar, you need our Starter Relay fix kit.  It solves a design deficiency and is easy to install, 5 minutes for the average owner and it works ! 

 

Their description and the various comments aren't clear if it will.

I may just drop them an email.

An update from MPH regarding their "Startus Interruptus" kit, specifically for the V11 Sport/Lemans:

They are currently out of the V11 kit, and need to order relays to build more, but are in the process of doing so if anyone is interested.

V11 owners, note: This concern applies to V11 harnesses from 2002, and from 2003-2005.

The early (1999-2001) Sport and Rosso Mandello already use a relay and do not benefit from this improvement. They do, however, benefit from a High Current relay in the #1/Start position.

How could this be posted with such a high degree of confidence? There was enough member participation in the "Livin' Easy Test" to draw conclusions . . . If your V11 Start Relay is "Livin' Easy", consider the Startus Interruptus mod. If your V11 fails the Livin' Easy Test? Be certain you run a quality, rated High Current relay in that #1 position (1999-2001 V11) . . .

I was at "my" mechanic's workshop the other day with the V11 Le Mans. She obliged by showing her party trick with the starter button in his presence. He reckoned that it is most likely the starter motor itself, i.e. it is probably full of crud which prevents it from making the necessary contact in the starter motor solenoid.

 

He started to talk about cleaning it out, but very quickly suggested simply buying a new one. I have also seen a few comments here that suggest just replacing the starter motor rather than buggerising around trying to fix an old one. I am fully aware that it is not hard to find a cheap replacement that possibly came off the same production line as the Valeo starter motor, but just doesn't have "Valeo" written on it, but rather some other manufacturer.

 

Nevertheless, I'm curious about what the insides look like, and cleaning out the existing one would be cheaper if it can be saved. So...

how hard is it to pull the starter motor apart? Is there anything in there that is likely to go "boing" and dissapear into the darkest corner of the garage? Is it easy to put back together? Is there any mystical black magic knowlege necessary to get it apart, cleaned and back together such that it still works afterwards?
