left came on the bike, stainless steel

right came off 1100 sport as advertised, (hard chrome over) cast iron

I don't have Kevin Cameron to ask, you guys will have to do. :bier:

Maybe some of the racers or more technical among us will have an opinion.

Will one keep the exhaust valve cooler by a significant degree? (degree, get it:grin:)

I doubt the difference is significant but it's interesting.

Thanks to the brain trust!

I'm not a thermal engineer by a long stretch, I admit, but I would be seriously surprised if the one compared to the other exhibited any difference at all as far as the temperature of the valve goes. :huh2:

You’re drunk, bored, taking the piss, having a laugh or… divorced sans pussy

One or more of the above

By the way - the exhaust valve is kept cooler by approximately 0.25 degrees Celsius with the oem upgrade

Worth it (sic)

An interesting thought, but in my opinion, the change in clamp type is more likely to be a cost of manufacture decision,  and also a styling choice.

The earlier finned clamp has more surface area to lose heat, but since it is clamping the exhaust pipe to the head with an insulating ceramic filled gasket in between, almost all the heat lost by the clamp comes from the pipe. I think that the exhaust valve temp will be unchanged by the clamp type.
