Short V11 Video

The snow has cleared and a recent rain has removed the tons of salt left on the road.  The V11 was rolled out of its warm bed to make this video commemorating the start of a new season.

I would suggest that is not a "LeMans", but a V11 Sport ("V11S"), as shown on the sidecover (with no script on the tail cowl).

And a gorgeous Sport it is!

I second that. There is not quite enough fairing on that for a Le Mans.

And, this, a fork mounted "flyscreen" rather than the frame mounted "fairing" of the LeMans variants, or even the other frame mounted screens of the Ballabio/Café Sport/ Coppa Italia or 2005 Scura R.

Interesting, the original  V11 Sport, 1999-2001, was naked (sans "flyscreen") with an available, accessory, Stucchi fiberglass option.

The first, factory, special edition Sport of 2001 (Rosso Mandello) carried the 2nd generation flyscreen . . .

 

The 2002 V11 Scura could be considered a "special Sport" with fork mounted flyscreen:

There were unfaired (nekkid) Sports in 2002 and the 2003 "carryover" LongFrames ("Sport Naked") . . .

There was the 2003-204 Café Sport that came with handlebars and a frame mounted flyscreen:

 

Not sure if any "later"/actual 2003 - 2004 V11 Sport were delivered without the fork mounted "bikini"/flyscreen that is seen on @Dave Swanson's magnificent 2004 V11S(Sport). (??)

According to this 2004 MG North America Press Book found on Greg Bender's website, it seems that a V11 naked - sans fairing - was still in the line-up.

Looks like 2004 was a great model year for Moto Guzzi. Spine Frame, Tonti, & CARC bikes sold brand new together.

I think the naked and clipon models used a lower cast alloy headlight mount, as there is a difference in vertical height above the lower triple, for example. The Ballabio, Cafe Sport, Coppa Italia and a few others(?) used a headlight mount that was forward and up, to match the 'dirt bike' handlebars they came with.

Yes, it is a Sport of course, but It will always be a Lemans to me.  HA!

It keeps my 77 (and my 73) company, and the Sport is the only bike that rivals the Lemans aurally
