igor Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Hi everyone , so yesterday i felt some air explosion on my left leg and the motor started to do some loud exhaust explosions , after stopping i realized the manifold was broken and ripped . So here are my questions , could this have cause some other problems in the engine , can this manifold be replaced without unmounting the carburator and would some have some links for this part in europe for my v11 le mans ? thanks a lot for your help here is a picture 1
gstallons Posted June 2 Posted June 2 It happens . Contact a M/G dealer near you for availability and go from there . IDK who has the best inventory where you live. Get at least two and change both because these things fail often .

gstallons Posted June 2 Posted June 2 It is a throttle body and you wil probably loosen the rubber clamp at the manifold , push everything back and remove the aluminum manifold by removing the three screws. Consider buying new gaskets too. Then loosen the clamp at the throttle body and pull the boots off and away from the bike. You will want to use a small amount of rubber lube to reassemble everything. Don't forget to swap the clamps to the new boots and take your time.

Admin Jaap Posted June 2 Posted June 2 From what I recall from my '02 Le Mans I didn't have to take anything off, but there was some prying and WD40 involved. 2

Scud Posted June 2 Posted June 2 There are four rubber boots in total. Loosen the two rear ones that connect the airbox to the throttle bodies. Then you can push the har plastic tubes back into the airbox, which will give you room to back the throttle bodies away from the heads and remove the broken rubber boot(s). It doesn't sound like any further damage was caused, since the engine was running for quite a while with the broken intake boot. This is a common problem, because those parts wear out from age and vibration. When you put everything back together, put the new boots on the heads, then connect the RH throttle body, then the left. (since the RH cylinder is farther forward, connecting RH first gives you a better angle when you connect the LH throttle body.) Then attach the intake pipes from the airbox and tighten all the clamps. 2

It depends on how you want to tackle it. I experienced a similar problem with my V11; the admission boot between the cylinder intake pipe and throttle slipped out. As you can see in the picture below, there are two of these boots; the throat is in the middle. I could have done it in multiple ways, but the clamp screw was on the other side, so unaccessible. I had to loosen the boot to be able to rotate the clamp next to the admission pipe. Just do whatever seems the most practical and easier to you. No damage to the engine, but of course, the left cylinder did not work properly. Also, but this is just me, since you have one of these boots that broke, now would be a good time to assess the remaining three, and maybe change them all? As to finding the parts, look at one of the spare parts catalog available on the web, and type the part number. You will most likely find a lot of hits. Europe has much more availability for parts.
Tomchri Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Follow Scud's advice. Done it both ways, taking manifold of, and carefully getting bolts back include L of swearing. And I put the boot in a kettle of HOT water, way more doable then. Dish washing soap works for me as lubricant. Stein Dinse or TLM have parts, and probably in your own neighborhood. Cheers TOM. 1

Wendel in Berlin has also has them, delivery a week or so https://wendelmotorraeder.de/hose_gu01114390-p-1034021.html?language=en&ref=expl and I dare say TLM in the Netherlands would have them. As has also been mentioned, they are available. Search a bit, and you may find a source nearer to you. 1
