20250606_073103.jpgI had the same issue with my Tenni when trying to fit a 5 speed clutch that was supplied as a 6 speed unit some years ago.  I returned it.  In hindsight, I suspect that the original clutch pushrod 'cup' (around 8mm diameter) could have been used with the 5 speed Ram clutch, which arrives ready assembled. Obviously, you would have to take the assembled unit apart to fit it.  I never tried this or confirmed that it would work.  This is a photo of the original Tenni clutch pushrod 'cup', which is branded Ram. Was this the solution you suggested Phil?

No I suggested to machined down the pushrod end to fit but this may work as well .Not sure with the latest RAM clutches if parts are interchangeable with the original.

Thanks.  I never took the replacement Ram unit apart to confirm that the original clutch pushrod 'cup' was interchangeable and thought that you might know, if only for future reference.   Turning down the end will work just as well.  Nice tool box.  👍

Michael has a very pretty Tenni in at the moment. I think it actually belongs to a member here, not sure though. Anyway it came to have a RAM clutch installed among other things. I can’t remember how far it’s travelled, certainly not very far but have a squizz at the flywheel!

The first pic is just to show off Michael’s spiffy new crane! Makes working on things like this a doddle!

This is the flywheel! As you can see it’s a real doozy of a crack! Tick-Tock Motherf*cker!

Oh, and Michael used the board for advice on how to yank the engine out of the front. I’ve never done it that way so couldn’t advise so thanks for that V11 people:thumbsup:

He’s fortunate because he lost his legs in a road accident and our third party insurance scheme has covered his entire recovery and return to work. The amount of assistance he has received has been outstanding and although nothing is perfect it means that rather than being a lost soul, probably unable to work, he has his own business, working from home, with all the equipment needed to, if not overcome, at least mitigate, his acquired disability.

Everyone moans about the cost of our registration and CTP, (Compulsory Third Party.) insurance for vehicles. Well I will never moan again. What better thing than there be than keep people alive and contributing?

He’s also an outstanding mechanic. Far better than I ever was.:oldgit:

I fitted RAM clutch to Scura. I used the pushrod receiving cup from the original Scura clutch in the RAM. Original pushrod didn't work w the RAM cup.

Worked fine.

I am sorry for the misfortune .

Hello fellow forum members, yes, this Tenni is mine….fortunately I scoured the forum before and post purchase…! Besides a few minor electrical gremlins, I suspected the bike still had the original aluminium flywheel and a magnet from a child’s toy proved perfect to confirm! Again courtesy of the knowledgeable people here!
And didn’t ride anywhere except down to see Michael in Bungendore…even this 270km jaunt now sounded risky….phew! Bike is now in good hands to sort!

I am likely headed in this direction-single-plate clutch replacement. Could someone please link to or provide some sort of identifier for the specific RAM clutch that is being swapped-in for the original single-plate clutches? Thanks.

I did the same on my Scura. Sourced the parts from MG Cycle. It was bolt-in with no modification of any part needed.

@JGP contact MG Cycle and talk to them about it. For a while, RAM supplied a kit for both 6-speed and 5-speed. The only difference was that the 6 speed came with a transmission input spline and pushrod to replace the parts from the twin-plate. But the Scura already has those RAM parts, so you can use the 5-speed kit on a Scura or Tenni.

You wouldn't have needed the pushrod to got from a twin plate to a RAM single plater in the 6 speed kit Tim. I replaced the twin plate OEM clutch with a RAM 6 speed single plater and the original pushrod fitted just fine.

It looks like RAM 6 speed kit to replace original 6 speed twin plater requires nothing but the basic kit and use the new gearbox drive at your discretion.

A 5 speed kit for a six speed single plate throw away the gearbox drive spline ( although I suspect you can surface grind it to fit the 6 speed transmission if you really need to) and either swap out the original pressure plate pushrod button OR machine the dia of the clutch end of the 6 speed pushrod to fit the new RAM clutch.

A 5 speed RAM kit to fit a 6 speed twin plate clutch is definitively???????

When someone can fill in the last part of the puzzle or indicate where I'm wrong in the first parts then we can make a difinitive post on it and save it in the "how to" section docc?

I have not done a 5 speed kit to fit the 6 speed. But I recall the guys at MG Cycle saying it would work, because they thought the only difference was the transmission input spline when they compared the 5 and 6 speed kits. This is worth verifying.

This has got me thinking about my Nero Corsa, which I think had an original aluminum flywheel and single plate clutch installed.

And agreed - if someone actually does it, with pictures, we can document it.

I think there was a thread on this forum with a lot of pictures and we got very close to "proof" - but I'm not sure where it is now.
