I dare say @Kiwi_Roy would suggest an application of Vaseline over the top of the cleaned and tightened connections as well. Not in the connection, over the top when it is all tightended up.

What with @Kiwi_Roy coming to us from most-southwestern Canada, on the Pacific Ocean (British Columbia), I always thought the Vaseline® application most appropriate.

What with @orangem2 posting from "GA", I was thinking (the state of ) Georgia ["GA"] in the USA. Perhaps a Vaseline®-optional locale.

Then, I see "GA" may also mean Gabon in western Africa. Definitely a Vaseline® eligible locale!

My thinking that @orangem2 could just pop into a South'n Spine Raid (just north of the US Georgia border) could be a misguided notion . . .
