Just want to point out that the table of efficiency is where the big lie in this inherently biased document [produced by the Washing Electric Vehicle Assn.; this is like the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's periodically self-serving "surveys" showing how dangerous motorcycles are, w/ the usual doctored & invalid statistics.] Sorry Dave, but this paper is pretty worthless. Esp. because it doesn't include the generally rather high lifetime energy costs of EVs vs. ICEs [talking cradle to grave here, not just energy consumed.]

Skeeve, thanks for checking this and exposing it as a junk site. Dave's not exactly well known for paying much attention to credibility of sources. . . After the infamous GW Thread, if he ain't learned anything about validating sources by now -- he never will. . . We may safely conclude, I suppose, that by posting stuff like this on this Forum, he figures no one else pays any attention, either.

 

The author of the article Dave linked is someone named Chip Gribben. According to the site, Chip's only credentials are associated with his title: "Special Events Chairman/Webmaster" of EVA/DC. Now those're quite the top chops for an authority on Low Carbon Footprint Alternative Transportation Eco-Efficiencies, don't you think??

 

If you look further, the knuckleheads at the EVA/DC have yet another Conspiracy Theory about GM, Big Oil, and none other than Ronald Reagan. It's a dastardly global scheme to defraud the planet by preventing the filming of "a documentary" -- tromping on their “right to film” in the process (in what Bill of Rights does "The Right to Film" appear??) -- nevermind -- that "right" was clearly denied! "The moratorium" was clearly timed by GM, The Gipper, and their devious henchmen in "Big Oil" who're keeping Moms Gaia from the many splendored, wondrous virtues of electric cars and a Low Carbon Utopia for all, and (shudder!) fouling her pristine air with pollutants from burning those horrid, smelly old petro-fuels --- FOR PROFIT!!!!

 

Hmmm. I have an 18 year-old son who does research for his College papers. He's doing one right now. He has a full grasp of the idea (on his own) that the strength of a position of any kind is only as strong as the strength of its verifiable sources. . . He's a Freshman, straight out of High School. . . Wherever did he come up with that one??
